Opiate Withdrawal

Okay... I'm quitting, I've decided to be done with this. So I've been taking hydrocodone everyday now for about 3 or so months...before that I was taking them
Every other day to every few days for about 4 or 5 months. Usually I take 25mg at once and only once a day. But only have been taking 25mg doses for about 3 weeks, my doses gradually have increased. For a while one 10mg pill did me justice. Every now and again I might take a 25 mg dose twice in a day like in the morning then at night. I'm just ready to be done with this. How bad do you think my withdraws are going to be? Any advice on handling them?

First, have you tried a simple search? I KNOW there are a shit ton of threads on this very topic -- super similar stories and questions. BUT - to not be a complete bitch... I'll proceed. ;)

Your wd's won't/shouldn't be too bad. Your tolerance is fairly low and that's a great thing. You could do a taper - drop to 15 mgs for a few days, then 7 or 5 mg... then stop. Could be done in 1-2 weeks. You could EVEN just drop off. You'd have some discomfort no doubt, but you could deal with that. Get plenty of sleep, take some hot showers (or cold... people tend to vary on preference regarding 'this' and wd) and eat well. Get exercise! Movement is key... sitting still or laying around TOO often can make you think too much about how shitty you may be feeling.

If you have the runs - lopermide. If you feel you can take benzos w/o it becoming a problem, use them sparingly. For example - lorazepam or temazepam for sleeping. Or even ambien. Whatever floats your boat.

In sum: W/ds shouldn't be too bad at all. They may be quite mild, in fact. You could taper OR drop off. Just make sure you have supplies in the house in case needed (for stomach/the runs/runny nose, sweaty body & clothing... hot/cold flashes, irritability -- be ready to deal with a lot of emotions).

Ugh. Emotions are the worst for me. I already have really bad anxiety. Sorry, No I didn't do a search. I am really serious about this so I thought with posting my exact situation, I would get the most precise opinions. I hope it's not so bad but I'm ready to be done My tolerance keeps building...so exercise is good during withdrawal? Because I really want to get back into the gym and get disciplined and healthy.

I like that you have realized your bottom line and that you want help to get off the opiates. I wish I would have been as smart, but I guess I'm lucky to be where I am now, right? ;) When I quit Oxy/Percs, I quit cold turkey and it landed me in a bad situation. I ended up going to the ER, was up front with the Dr. there, he gave me a shot of morphine, 10 percs and said taper off with these, and I don't want to see you back here unless something is broken! Okay, now about you. It's smart to taper off them for the least withdrawal possible. I completely agree with getting exercise and taking hot showers. I had the shakes something fierce for a few days, and walking was the best for me. The only thing I could eat was chicken broth and pickles - the salt helps with body aches and the pickles helped with nausea. Definitely agree you need something for the runs! I also had a prescription for clonazepam, which helped ease the anxiety. If you go into it prepared, you will come out feeling great. Good luck, and I hope it all goes well for you!
