So from what i know, 2-bromo-lsd is a non-psychedelic version of lsd. It is being used in studies as treatment for cluster headaches. This compound has effects similar to lsd on serotonin receptors. This makes me think it would be great for treating my depression. All of the other meds haven't worked and I think boosting my serotonin this way might be my best chance to combat this. Does anyone more qualified have an opinion or ideas on this?

I don't think BOL is completely non-psychedelic, it's just weaker IIRC.

Thanks.

Well if taken at a low dose daily the possible initial psychedelic effects would diminish as you develop a tolerance. Like taking regular acid. The serotonin increase would remain though. Right?

i don't believe it releases any serotonin; afaik LSD binds at serotonin, dopamine and other receptor sites.

with regard to cluster headaches: i know that ergotamine, in conjunction with caffeine, is a prescription treatment for migraine headaches.

going for a run releases serotonin, norepinephrine, and dopamine tho if thats what you're looking for.

or you could eat mdma or amphetamines or take an SSRI.

fuck doing all that tho. About three weeks ago I quit an SSRI after decreasing the dosage for 3 months. My brain is STILL trying to level out on serotonin production. I still get the zaps occaisionally, can't sleep sometimes, sometimes dead tired in the middle of the day. don't needlessly fuck about with your brain.

LSD does not increase serotonin at all, it is active at some of the serotonin receptors (among a vast array of other receptors, it has a complex mechanism of action).

Additionally, the recent literature has seemed to suggest that serotonin actually plays much less of a role in depression than we had previously thought (which probably accounts for the rather poor success rate attributed to SSRI treatment).

Yeah there's some controversy about 2-Br-LSD being non-hallucinogenic:

a case study describing how a 28-year-old worker in the laboratory of Harold G. Wolff took BOL-148 0.5 mg for a ‘‘pounding’’ vascular headache. This resulted in a LSD-like delirium for at least seven hours (2). It was published in Annals of Internal Medicine and the reference (2) to it is easily found on PubMed.
Wolff’s group concluded, ‘‘from these observations it is clear that BOL-148 in relatively small amount produced a delirious reaction similar in almost all respects to that of LSD’’

You probably might as well try low doses of LSD instead, should be easier to get too!

True. I know that tripping from it or not taking lsd seems to treat my depression. I'm not so sure taking it everyday would be the answer but it would probably work better than all of the meds that ive been on that have failed.

D7CE,

Did you ever try 400-550mg of Neurontin (Gabapentin) twice a day? It has far less side effects than SSRI's and many of the other anti depressants. It can be incredibly effective and makes the daily activities a joy again, like listening to your favorite album is like being at a live concert. Definitely the most effective drug I've taken with the least amount of side effects.

Some users have also reported it to help balance them out and bring their personality back after different psychedelic binging.

Ha! That's funny. I often do half a hit of fluff when I feel a migraine coming on. Normally it works like a miracle. Much better to go through the day with a slight disconnect than a train spike through your head.

Doesn't work on sinus headaches though. :(
