Misc Hexobarbital

Hi folks!

I just found 1g of crystalline Hexobarbital in my parent's cellar, it's pretty old it seems, over 20 years actually (made in the DDR). Assuming it's still good, how would you apply this stuff? It's in a glass ampule, sterile for injection purposes, but since I don't really wanna get further into IV use of hard drugs, I'd prefer another route of administration. Intranasal sounds pretty nasty, considering the dosage. Rectal maybe? I know this one has an extremely short biological half life, so oral probably won't do much I assume, eh? Speaking of dosage, where do I best start? I'm not using any GABAergic drugs on a regular basis and haven't had any for a few weeks aside from a bottle of beer. Is this even worth the try? Is there any euphoria with barbs, this one in particular?

I also have a whole lot of Tramadol (which I absolutely love, I guess I got some lucky combination of cytochrome genes) and that one always benefits from a downer thrown into the mix with the stimulating touch it has to itself. Especially with barbiturates inducing P450, I am hoping for some increased metabolization rate to the opioid receptor agonist, whatever it's name is.

In short: Any advice is much appreciated! :)

On a more serious note: The stuff seems extremely hygroscopic, it was about 10-20 cubic centimeters of volume before I took it out of the vial, now it's a sticky mess. 200mg up the ass I say. Ass seems reasonable since it's metabolized in the liver for the most part.
 
Used to be used for anaesthesia, but that was decades ago. 250mg-500mg IV for knockout I think. I guess 150-200mg will be fine rectally. I'll try a tiny dose first though (like 10mg) and then 150 or whatever 20mins later, just to make sure my ass doesn't burn too bad lol. It has turned into a tiny piece of solid now, kinda like molten plastic, about 1-2 cubic centimetres volume now lol. Very sticky stuff.
 
Interesting...if you get the chance, I would recommend writing out a proper trip report because this is an interesting substance and I'm sure a lot of people would be interested in reading about it.

Good call on trying with the "threshold dose" to start out with!
 
Yeah I'm not too experienced when it comes to downers. This stuff is probably wasted on me and I'm sure a hardcore IV user who's into benzos as well would get some serious euphoria since this is about as hypnotic as it gets. I'm not sure, but considering how it was used in anaesthesia it should be pretty hypnotic. When I do benzos I either feel nothing at all even at pretty large doses (5mg Lorazepam, 30mg Diazepam, 60mg Oxazepam all had me feel nothing at all before) or they just knock my ass out. The only benzo I ever got some euphoria off was Clorazepat (50mg oral) and that was intense as hell! Ended up doing a loooot of stupid shit that day... I don't even wanna get into it lol.

I should also add that I had ~10mg amphetamine phosphate in the morning (I'm extremely sensitive and my body metabolizes it really slowly, probably a half life of 15h.

I'll just leave all these infos in this thread, so if anyone ever gets their hand on the stuff and googles it or searches on bluelight, he'll come up with this. Most valuable information so far is probably that it has hygroscopic properties, never seen anything like that with a pharmaceutical. It was fluffy as cotton candy at first (crystalline cotton candy lol) and within seconds it turned into a small firm piece of plastic like stuff, very sticky. I think I'm repeating myself lol.
 
It doesn't seem to fall into a group of "interesting barbiturates as a last resort"... It induces a short (about 1 hour, for longer surgeries for prolonging the effects neuroleptics were given) and shallow narcosis after a single 1g of sodium salt (but depending on the patient 250-500mg used to be used), it doesn't fully wipe muscle tension out either. Also, though it is a substrate of cytochrome P450, subtypes aren't the ones responsible for metabolism of codeine to morphine and tramadol to desmethyltramadol (CYP2C9 and CYP2C19 aren't involved in aforementioned opioids). Taking all mentioned properties into account (1-hour action, not fully muscle relaxing, sedative dose not clearly lower than narcosis dose*) I wouldn't do more than 150-200mg at first. But it's definitely much worse from far superior secobarbital and pentobarbital. There were many much often used barbiturates. How come people come across such as hexobarbital? Strange...

*This is actually characteristic for barbiturares. Let's take barbital for instance, a therapeutic dose was very close to doses used by people who find it nowadays in some old medicine chests. 800-900mg would be a sedative therapeutic dose and 1g is a starting "recreational" dose with lethal dose being "3.5 to 4.4 grams" (according to this source).

I got the sodium salt which I thought was most common and I'm not sure if P450 is boosted that selectively. I thought Cy2D6 and 2B6 would be boosted as well. Cy2D6 convert to the good shit (desmethyltramadol), Cy2B6 to the shit shit afaik. I'm sometimes drinking grapefruit juice to Tramadol which is supposed to decrease Cy2B6 stronger than Cy2D76 I think, not sure. I have a really nice metabolism when it comes to Tram, only Hydromorphone and Piritramid IV could surpass oral Tramadol, orally no other opioid could, not oxycodone and not hydromorphone, morphine or whatever. I never puke off it, but get extremely social at first and with a higher doise (200-300mg) and an antihistamine like Diphenhydramine I get heavy nods and warm rushes. Also there seems to be next to no tolerance developement over periods of max two weeks.

Back to the barb: The sing in the anus was actually unpleasant and the last dose of ~400mg was therefore administered orally. Can't say I'm impressed in the least so far. I worked my way up from the ~10mg in 4 steps to ~400mg. It's closer to being drunk or even coming off Ketamine than to Benzos, I got some dizziness working it's way up from the neck and feel tired, but not relaxed. Still have bruxism and pruritus (like I always do). :/ The 400mg are hitting me now. Seems the stuff is stable in a vial like I had. COuld be 40yrs old, could just be 22. The crystals looked beatiful and had such a shiny white.
 
Stoned but not euphoric at all. Like you said, muscle tension and bruxism from the amphetamine in the morning and the tramadol's serotonergic activity. I'm very sensitive to that and a little speed can make me feel like I'm freezing to death cause I get so stiff, 5HT-psychedelics cause massive pain towards the comedown, forcing me to do yoga, but it always furts like a motherfucker. I'm not doing them anymore though and ahven't done MDA in forever (it's even worse, most likely from 5HT2A-receptors is the sarcoplasma of muscle cells).

Definitely have trouble walking straight and focussing my eyes is really tough. On the other hand I feel very tense. I don't like that at all. Could just be the amphetamine (from the morning) and the pot I just smoked, but I usually wouldn't feel so tense. Barbs shoudl calm me, I'm not enjoyig it, itch is also present. :/

edit: For some reasond I'm fiending for more, as I would after taking cocaine. Maybe there's some sort of major perceptible influence on Dopamine and NMDA (that's how it feels) while at the same time stoning me through it's GABA agonism. Btw the metabolism rate of Hexobarbital (possibly all barbs, not sure) gets slowed down to around 33% (got this figure from memory, too lazy to pull publication) of it's original speed by cannbis. This would make for a couple of hours activity. My hands feel slightly numb btw.

edit2: i get very little enjoyment out of this and feel a little cold which is often the case with benzos as well.

edit3: Maybe I should've given this to a collector :/ I just feel really confused and hectic and it just ain't fun. I've never really gotten fun out of Benzos as I mentioned further up, but they at least didn't get me stoned. Opipramol or Diphenhydramine are more fun than this. I'm also swaying back and forth which is annoying, my sense of equilibrium is fucked. Btw I took it all by now, half oral, half rectal probably. Some is still about to kick in. All of it at once would've probably been the way to go if I would have had any experience with this stuff.

edit4: I forgot to thank you for your post adder! Very informative. Bluelight filled anohter hole, Hexobarbital didn't turn up a single result through the title search. Btw should this be moved to benzos?

edit5: the numbness is spreading to my face, especially my lips. Feels a little like a local anaesthetic and might be due to the tramadol, eventhough I only had 50mg in the morning and 100mg shortly before thr Hexobarbital. While the dissociating aspects have vanbished I still feel dizzy and get a lot of short nods.

edit6: I can only stress how pleasing this nod is. Wihout te tram this wouldve pribabl been shi.

edit7: Fuck it's strong now after anotger joint, really dozzy, put th joinr out mid way

edit8: I also had 6mg Citalopram this morning along with 40mg of Pranzoptazoland 10mg Domperidon.

edit9: To sum it up, by now I fel pretty drunk without the initial antidepressant/euphoric /anxiolytic effect boze gooves me at first (I speculate that comes from it's NMDA antagonism which shows a rebound within the first hour og cosumption and this falls right into the manic (srtarting at T+2min) and the emo-phoric-depressive (t+30) episode timeschedule. godamn my head is so heavy, in an unpleasant qay rhiufh, i shoud bw in bed

edit 11: i was just about to take a shower when the effects started wearing off. i didnt check the exact time, but it looks like this lasts about 1 hour for the omeuo/pleateau, so lets see what the comedown is like and how long it lasts.

edit12: I took the shower after all since the dizziness got really annoying and unpleasant. To me it felt more like a non-recreational downer, it sure got me a lot more stoned than Benzos typically do, but as with all my benzo trials I have no desire to repeat this at all, the dizziness I got wasn't worth it. i assume this should be used for surgery, not for good times.

edit13: Still having double vision with both eyes open at T+4:00, very similar to what Ketamine does during the comedown.

Had some really deep sleep despite the Tramadol, feel slightly hungover. The stuff did a lot more than I thought it would, especially with it's "ultra-short" half-life. Still I'd have to be pretty desperate to repeat this.
 
I guess it's the problem with anything short-acting and potentially addictive that it calls for more and more after it wears off. Like you had morphine and hydromorphone at equal doses concerning strength - you're definitely going to take more often if you use hydromorphone.

From my experience barbiturates are sort of "drunkness" feeling but anyway they feel less intoxicating. Those of medium duration like secobarbital or pentobarbital (or even cyclobarbital is good here) were the most sought after during the times when barbiturates were prescribed just like that, now physicians don't even want to prescribe benzodiazepines. Anyway, the other side, i.e. long-acting barbs, is terrible. I mean phenobarbital or benzobarbital (it's still used in Ukraine and it's very much the way phenobarbital is). The indications were "sedative", "hypnotic", "muscle relaxant". Now when I'm thinking how long they work and how you wake up feeling like a zombie, it's a normal thing they got displaced. And it's not only because of the high potential of abuse and low margin of safety but also because as sedatives and hypnotics they actually lose with short-acting benzodiazepines. In both cases one has to wait quite long for effects. In anxiety it's important that the drug acts as fast as possible, for insomnia you want to take a pill and lie on your bed, and fall asleep. You don't want to wait in either case. So really phenobarbital is usable as a last resort for epilepsy attacks.
 
I'll try to sum it up. It felt a lot more intoxicating, physically taxing than the benzos I've tried, I even had a slight hangover for the first 2h after coming out of bed. The loos of coordination was a lot heavier than what I know of benzos as well. When I took that shower, I actually had to lean against the wall in order not to fall over. At this point all benzos I know would've long knocked me out. I really disliked the dizziness I got off this, but that might've been due to the Tramadol combo, pot effects (mixed with tobacco!) also seemed to be boosted massively, again part of this will be due to the Tramadol, but I still got sick as a dog everytime I took a drag which Tram alone wouldn't do at that dose.

Altogether I took the full gram in the course of about two hours, half orally, half rectally which is above what an anaesthesiologist would administer for inducing sleep before surgery, though he'd administer it IV. Oral BA is supposed to be around 90% btw. The material might have decomposed to some degree throughout the last 20+ years, so be careful if you're planning to dose this as high as I did. Not recommended without tolerance I'd say.

I gotta agree to adder that it felt a lot more like being drunk off my ass without the euphoria I get during the initial phase of drinking (probably due to the ery short lived NMDA antagonism booze gives) than like benzos. Not worth repeating to me, but I'm glad I can cross it off the list. :D Some people might find enjoyment in this.
 
hm isnt it quiet risky to take a barb and combine it with a opiate? (even a weak one like trama?) not to speak of the trama+ssri you take ^^ but it seems you are quite hardcore ;) but really other less experienced useres should be careful with that ammounts and combo!
 
I was about to answer "blah" and probably would if this wasn't bluelight. ;) But yeah, it's risky, I slowly upped the barb dosage though and knowing it has an "ultra-short" half life I knew the effects weren't gonna creep up and hit me from behind after I was feeling effects for ten minutes already. Did I mention a dose of amphetamine in the morning? I'm very sensitive and the tiny dose I take lasts well throughout the day. That combined with the Tramadol's ssri effects and the Citalopram does sound risky, but I'm really just taking 5mg citalopram, maybe 10mg amphetamine and 100-200mg Tramadol. All on and off really. Surely not too healthy and while these aren't dosages that I'd consider reckless, I wouldn't recommend such combinations to anyone either. I'm very familiar with what my body can and cannot take, though that surely is no guarantee of experiencing unexpected adverse effects. Back in the days I experimented a lot with MAO-inhibitors and that kind of got out of hand and I'm probably happy to be alive, but I'm moving in relatively familiar territories now.
 
shouldve kept the vial intact as a trophy.. idk i wish i had some "exotics" i guess i would call old garbo an exotic lol.. but yeah shouldve kept it intact and got yourself some real drugs.. sorry but i only read a few posts, if this is an entire troll thread then i fess up, you got me too..
 
Interesting, thats another chemical for me to look at. Too bad it was old, the old school barbs are awesome. Good enough for me to make my name after even. They aren't like benzos though. I know they treat alcoholism with benzos, but barb's lay you out. A good dose of seconal for instance feels like drinking half a gallon of liqour but with NONE of the bad feeling, and a slightly better ability to walk (slightly).
