What is in suboxone that make you throw up and feel absolutely horrible if u swallow it? Ive looked all over google and cant find anything telling me what makes me so sick when i swallow any suboxone. I mean there has to be some ingredient that makes you sick if you swallow it im assuming but ive found nothing saying what it is. All ive read is that if you swallow suboxone it wont work or wont work as well, but it said nothing about making you sick. Any one have any info on this?

Do you feel neauseated with opiates in general? Might be a silly question, but it is a fairly common side effect!

Secondly, why are you swallowing your suboxone? Works better sublingually - better bioavailability (have a look at this thread) and kicks in faster too..

Thirdly, as opposed to subutex (which is just buprenorphine) suboxone contains naloxone, intended to make it non-abusable via the IV route - but actually does nothing at all as buprenorphine (the active ingredient) has a higher affinity to your opiate receptors than naloxone... however, it does seem that it gives some people side effects (nausea and headache seem to be the most commonly reported ones). I've not got any personal experience of this however but if you do a search you might find something, or someone else here might know more :)

Fourthly - how much are you taking? Even though it's not absorbed amazingly well orally it is still more than possible to take too much which will exacerbate the side effects..

Finally, I find that ginger is great for nausea if you aren't taking too much and can't find a way of minimising it any other way :)

i dont know if this relates at all but last night i took my usual IV dose of suboxone and ended up falling asleep on my computer chair, woke up 30 minutes later feeling real sick and ended up puking my guts up and i would fall back asleep and wake up 20 minutes later doing the same thing, even hours after everything was out of my stomach, was just throwing up stomach acid. i dont know if it was suboxone related or i just got some food poisoning or something.

Since you IV'd the Suboxone it could definitely be the bupe.

^sir where have you been mr kdoutn'muhaz :)

Yea I think there should be more options for quitting opiates/opioid's. That shit pisses me off when I think about it because anytime I tried to take Bupe using Subutex, this always happened. I only tried it a few times. I got so fucking sick the last time tho. I did plug a bit of it. Maybe too much for back then, But it never made sense or felt too promising. I remember not puking but I was to take 8mg tablets, 32mgs a day as needed. I did take Suboxone with the Nalox. once. It was kinda weird because I wasn't that badly hooked when I had took 1mg piece of an orange Suboxone tab under my tongue. I had a large habit at the time, maybe 12 vicodin? More if they were super weak, point blank though, the night I took it I was still hungover from the night before off of opiates. Atleast I think I was. It worked that night, woke up felt super great. So your issue is odd but you could be allergic to that stuff. Some people are. It can happen to a lot of people, I think I was allergic, but I may not have been waiting long enough. The day I was sick for almost 2 days it felt like I swallowed or drank a soda like right after the shit dissolved. It was lame. Did NOT feel better in any way shape or form. I wish you could get either methadone/bupe/ or Opana ER/or they had Vicodin without APAP in 10mg pills. I don't get why there is little options and the two choices are worse than an alternative...

Buprenorphine is sort of infamous for causing extreme nausea even in people who usually don't get any nausea or little nausea from other opiates. The reason for this remains unclear (at least to me) - maybe another opiate is what you need? I know that's not the easiest option but it may be the option for you.

If the regular anti-nausea drugs aren't helping you (don't forget Benadryl!) than you may want to think about your dosing or even what drug you're using :\

I found the first time I took Buprenorphine extreme nausea ensued. Every time after this however I never experienced any, however it really fucked with my thermostat...

The side effects from Bupe seem to disappear with daily dosing quite quickly.

when i first started, even the tinniest bit of subs would send my stomach to hell and i wouldn't be able to move around for 4-5 hours. i tried tums, baking soda, herbal remedies, ect... but nothing worked as well as DPH (diphenhydramine) often sold OTC as Benedryl. this shit is magic for me. 1 pill (25mgs) cures all the nausea and potentiates the bup.....stay safe man!!

try a lower dosage sublingually. Also I found snorting to be very effective and I could use less.

suboxone is actually suppose to be really strong i think somewhere ive seen a comparsion chart to other opiates

It could be the fact that buprenorphine has such a high binding affinity for your mu opioid receptors and it is only a partial mu agonist. It sort of teases your brain in a way. It gives you opiate effects, but not all the positive ones. I'm one of the lucky ones who hasn't ever experienced horrible bupe nausea. I've had friends tell me they'd never go on bupe because it always makes them sick. I'm not sure if these people would eventually adjust to it or not.
