I just happened to wander over here and I couldn't help myself.
I'm with Lost Boys - that is a HIGH dose, my friend.
I never need more than 10mg for recreational use.
I have a family member who was on 160mg per day, two 80 mg ER doses.
Another family member is an RN of 20 years.
Trust me, that level of opiate is typically given to cancer patients and palliative care.
That means these are dying people with little hope for recovery.
Only a pain-management doctor should be prescribing at this level.
The prescription itself is filled out in triplicate, in most states.
There will be no 'government agency' or investigation by your pharmacist that goes beyond checking the script and your doc's credentials. If there is a problem with either, then you could be cut off. If you have changed the script, you have committed a felony and will likely be caught.
More important than this is understanding the risks involved with heavy opiate use.
I know you must have real pain. The family member who I won't refer to has lived with intense pain that has lead to a life-long dependency on vicodin, and for several years - high dose oxy.
Even with pain to justify the use, there are severe consequences that your doctor may not be spelling out to you. Your dopamine receptors can be permanently down-regulated, of course.
But you probably know that. Withdrawal is insane!
The greatest risk is death.
If you take too high a dose it can arrest your breathing.
It paralyses the diaphragm and you peacefully suffocate.
Keep that in mind if you ever decide to share your meds with a person lacking your level of tolerance!
Also, if you lower your dose and then return to a higher dose, you may underestimate the effects. This happens to many heroin users - they get clean and then relapse.
Only to discover that the old dosages are now lethal, even to them...
I highly recommend against taking 160mg per day.
It will turn you into a zombie even if it doesn't kill you.
Here's a better idea - save them up.
Use as little as you can and keep the rest.
That way if you are cut off, you will be fine.
Good luck with surgery.
