Umm...thats alcohol & fireworks. In my area we had alcohol banned from a festival we have every summer because some drunk blew off his hand while lighting a fireworks, I think it was a quarter stick.

Also, I meant watching the fireworks from a distance (organized fireworks by the city)

Mornin' BDDers. Although as not many of you are from the UK I imagine it isn't morning for many of you..

Another drug-free day for me today *sigh*

^ I don't but I was on 300-450mg/day for about 4 years for neuropathic pain.

Two questions:

1. Does tolerance build quickly with Lyrica? I take 400mg about once a week. Just wondering if it will still be effective after a while.

2. Did you notice any strange side effects while taking it? It has the tendency to make me st-t-t-tutter sometimes.

^ I took it therapeutically so I'm not really sure about the tolerance to recreational effects. From what I've heard, tolerance can build pretty rapidly when you take it regularly but I can't imagine it building that quickly administering it once a week.

I never had any problems stuttering but I seemed to get diplopia (double vision) much easier when I took other substances with it (opioids, cannabis, alcohol, benzo, etc.) ...diplopia is nearly inevitable with enough of most sedatives but with lyrica, I would get it when I took substantially lower doses of the other drugs than I would need to take to get that effect without the lyrica.

EDIT:

some basic google searches have turned up other forums where people mentioned stuttering/vocal jerks as a side effect they experienced and oddly, this blog says they're investigating lower dose (50-75mg) pregabalin as a treatment for stuttering.

^ if you're taking 400mg at a time once a week, you may have been Rx'd it for anxiety but your're exceeding the amount for a single dose you were prescribed, correct? I've never heard of anyone being Rx'd 400mg in a single weekly dose.

As far as tolerance to the therapeutic effects - I wouldn't expect it to build up very quickly but typically people aren't utilizing the doses or schedule you are so it's difficult to say.

Yes, I am going beyond the prescribed single dosage. But the prescribed single dosage (150mg) doesn't do shit. I have a naturally high tolerance to most drugs.

^ how did you/do you use it? What doses and frequency?

My anxiety has become quite predictable. It's almost like it builds up, and at a certain point it overflows into an anxiety attack. These attacks occur about once every 7-10 days, and I can feel when they're coming on. That's where the Lyrica comes in. I had been using Xanax and Valium but that shit puts me to sleep almost every time I use it. And sleeping on the job = not good. My doc wanted to put me on Buspar, but I talked him out of it, and talked him into giving me Lyrica - which actually works very very well for anxiety. In addition to that, it knocks out my lower back pain as well. I really like this stuff.
