Let's Talk Craft Beer

What about all the other great PURELY american beers such as "DogFish Head" or "Magic Hat" or "Anchor Steam" or any of the other thousands of much more flavorful american beers?

Although I think bud is a poor excuse for a beer and I personally like my beer to have lots of flavor, I am impressed by what they do.

Budweiser starts with an agricultural product such as barley and rice which is something that by nature varies greatly from batch to batch, field to field, seed to seed, etc.. never giving you the EXACT same product. Yet, budweiser applies science and technology and takes something that is normally by nature a random/unpredictable product and turns it into the EXACT same taste, smell, appearance every time.

That is impressive. It is impressive that they have mastered what they do so well where as they can literally make the exact same product every time from starting ingredients that are never the same every time.

I just wish that a company that has so much talent, knowledge, technology, resources, and money would use their skills to create really good crafted beers in addition to bud.
How you explain butwiper, reminds me of McDoogal's (when you put a patent on an agricultural product it's gonna' to turns out exactly the same every time), minus the hundreds of chemicals (McDoogals) went through to achive that "tastes the same, consistantly - & minus the "talent" -- goes for the both of em'

These were part of my night last week... both were excellent

Fraoch Scottish Heather Ale 5%
Scotland
Into the boiling bree of malted barley, sweet gale and flowering heather are added, then after cooling slightly the hot ale is poured into a vat of fresh heather flowers where it infuses for an hour before being fermented. A light amber ale with floral peaty aroma, full malt character, a spicy herbal flavour and dry wine like finish.

I would love to try this....for the superficial reason being that my name is Heather :)

Canadian Beers, unlike almost all American Beers, are actually very good. I havent been ordering them myself, my friends have, as I wouldnt know what to get, but what they've been ordering me (mainly "blonde beers") are very good.

order anything made by unibrew

I just tried the Sam Adams Irish Red (from the Brewmasters Collection) yesterday aftewrnoon and was pretty impressed. It had a very good flavor and was delicious ice cold after spending a day in the sun :)

It's actually "dry hopped w/ fresh heather- Excellent, quaffable beer, very satisfying

I've been very interested in this company for some time but couldn't find anywhere to purchase it online at the time. I am especially interested on one of their brews in particular that uses pine needles in the brewing process. Supposedly the pine is very invigorating. This is how all ale was like pre-1500's. Don't get me started on how the catholic church pushed and pushed for hops to be mandatory to add to all beers because of its sedating effects. Did they really think that adding a sedating plant to beer was going to stop men from brawling and fucking?

Don't get me wrong, I have only known beer with hops in it so of course I appreciate the taste but from what I've read of early medieval records, the general european population revolted at the time and hated the thought of having hops added to all beer and insisted they keep their other herbs but eventually they lost that fight.

To be fair, I'm sure the preservation qualities of hops had a lot to do with it's widespread use.. probably even more than the story I told above but I'd like to think the former was true... it just gives me an excuse to bash on the catholic church.

Sam Adam's Irish Red is excellent.

And don't hate on Miller either. I drink MGD, High Life or Pabst Blue Ribbon on basically a daily basis (a daily basis).

I treated myself to some of these yesterday, however:

Stevens Point! Hells yeah, pretty sure while WI may not have the best craft beers, we probably have more per state than anywhere but maybe CA.

My brother and I are drinking malt liquor...yup yup

Idk if anyones informed the ppl of this thread of the divine brew but ill praise it anyways.
For those who have this beverage available in their state
BUY A FUCKING MICKEY'S ICE!!!!!!!!

Im no fancy ass beer sommelier who enjoys beer that tastes like light vanilla n mandarin orange zest.
Go to your local fucking liquor store n pick up the smoothest, most delicous brew in existence.

^ I think my palate would be offended by trying that.

I am enjoying the plethora of craft breweries in san diego. Unfortunately, they beers can be pretty pricey. I was at the store today and picked up a 12 pack of Taproom 21 pale ale from Rochester NY. its alright, not that great. I was expecting it to be crisper and more hoppy, but its more to the lager side of things. Still, i'll drink it.

Oh, and this is my 1776th post (under this screen name, i had a bunch under Yucatanboy back in the day), so in honor of 1776, I highly recommend the 21st amendment live free or die IPA :)

I think I read somewhere that technically it isn't beer but carbonated dog urine.

im thrilled to be living in Beer City USA (Asheville NC).

I love American craft beers. Ive tried beer from all over and really very few can even compete with the full bodied flavor some our beers have.
I havent drank a shitty beer in over a year, i prefer to drink less often and buy the good stuff.

To throw one into this thread, i love the New Belgium 1554 Enlightened Black ale. Such a tasty and smooth brew.

im not too familiar with Canadian beer. But a couple of my canadian friends said there is no where near the variety we have. And they dont get any of our microbrews there. So the preferred American beer (i cant blame them) and now brew their own so as not to be limited by canadian beer.

I heard there arent very many hopppy brews at all. Things like IPA's and stuff.

Someone said it above but anything that Unibro makes is awesome. Very good canadian brewery in my opinion.
