Are you in the "I haven't noticed any negative side effects" camp?

Weed changes my personality completely when I smoke it often. For the worse. I'm less likely to go out and do productive things and I feel like I deserve everything to be handed to me on a silver platter.

When I can be lazy, and get everything handed to me on a silver platter, then I'll start smoking weed again ;).

I've been smoking for almost three years and I hate how others assume that just because they're dependent on weed that others will then become dependent on it too after a certain time frame. Honestly I think that's bullshit. I've been able to stop smoking and not have any problems....even after I was smoking chronic everyday. I've been addicted to other drugs such as opiates and benzos after I started smoking weed and that's when I finally felt what withdrawal was like. Weed could never even come close to that.

Well, I smoke weed it will make 2 years this summer. Not daily, and when it turns a daily thing I stop doing it for (1 week or too, to get "normal" again), simply because I do not think is healthy and it starts to get "boring" (if you know what I mean). Weed has some negative effects on me too, ex: before I smoke I want to go to the gym, right after I smoke a joint I really don't want to go to the gym lol... The same with study etc. Lazynesssssss

Yes, I get negative side effects. Sometimes I will get very cold after intaking a large amount of the drug, it's an uncomfortable feeling. Dry mouth to the point that it hurts my throat(I smoke out of a lightbulb). I will get the marijuana taste in my mouth and it isn't bad but I'll have to spit alot... not really a neg s/e though. Sometimes I'll get so high that the fucked up feeling is unpleasant and it's undeniable that I'm fuckin rocked... The euphoria will still be there, but I'll just be like what the fuck.

I find taking in a lower dose is better than going at the higher ones. I will get a nice pleasant stoned feeling and nice thc effects.... You gotta know how to dose yourself properly.

oh and also..... lazyness. EXTREMe loss of memory to the point that my brain feels like it's literally shot. daily use can put me in a consistent 'out of it' feeling that doesn't feel good. hmmm, weed can do alot of damage to you, it all depends.

But being a pot smoker is still worthwhile if you can handle it, which I can because I know what I'm doing.

I guess maybe I'm different. I don't have trouble going a few days without smoking, when I do I have zero withdrawal symptoms.... I don't get headaches.... The three side effects I experience are hungry, happy and sleepy. I have been smoking for ~5 years or something, I haven't really been keeping track. California native here, maybe properly grown bud yields less side effects??

Edit: Read a few more of your reported negative effects.... FYI I do not experience a lack in motivation or laziness. Yesterday I blazed right when I woke up, I spent the first few hours of my morning doing chores, listening to music and applying for jobs on the Internet.. Currently eating off unemployment dollars. I consider this to be an average day of productivity...

I'm in the "I can see negative side effects in others, especially when they try to say they can't notice any themselves" camp. Of course them saying they get no negative side effects makes me WANT to find negative stuff, but that doesn't make them any less negative when I do find stuff.
I certainly can see negative side effects in people. I find it makes most people okay with being lazy and not producing anything worthwhile.
I've found few people that have almost no negative side effects, but that's usually cause they were athletic and active before they started smoking, so the negatives don't affect them as much.
Not saying the goods don't outweigh the bads, but it's all up to you what you want to sacrifice. Just try to be aware of things and don't try to lie to yourself in order to spite some stranger because it's only you you're affecting.

I disagree. I have Rheumatoid Arthritis, and use cannabis as medicine, through different methods. It helps control my pain and inflammation enough for me to be able to do tasks I could not do before. It makes me more productive.

I mean the person for whom there's nothing stopping them from doing anything productive in the first place. I wasn't talking about smoking weed for a specific reason, I'm talking about smoking weed for basically no reason.
Most people don't have cancer, or arthritis, or colitis, or glaucoma, or chronic pain etc. And so your reasons shouldn't be confused with other people's use of it.

And using weed topically? Like rubbing a pot-cream on your skin? What's that do?

Well, you did say "most" people, so I wanted to address that. :) I know quite a few people who use cannabis as medicine, to be more productive.

I make my own cannabis tincture and salve. I use the tincture orally, and the salve topically, directly to the area of pain. It helps relieve pain.

I have a neighbor who grows medicinally, I used to grow my own.. My neighbor is prescribed 160mgs Oxycodone a day, as well as some amount of dilaudid and valium, he has been able to curb this destructive medication by using Cannabis as a medicine.... Before I got my medicinal marijuana recommendation a few years back I was pretty fucking depressed about where my life had been going.. Since then my depression has been in a comatose remission, I don't expect it to return to the surface anytime soon. When I tried traditional SSRI medications before getting the Cannabis recommendation I became lethargic and quiet most of the times, since switching I have more energy, I speak eloquently and truthfully.... I am not socially awkward or timid as I had been before (5+ years before)..

So yeah, Cannabis has had specifically positive effects in my life, sans the idiotic taboos which have prevented me from socializing with certain individuals who find it necessary to prune such undesireables as myself from their circle. I don't care either, so I don't really consider it a negative.

Well, I am in that camp. After several years of cannabis (ab)use I didn't recognize any side effects, neither does any person in my environment. Cannabis is a nice tool for getting yourself into comfort with the world, at least if you're one that can tolerate it. Past experiences have shown that there might be some people that don't experience it to be that benign as it is for a lot of people.
So even if there might be a lot of stoners not recognizing any side effects I would not say that it is a harmless drug. Actually I think that the often observed natural=safe attitude is actually sometimes (e.g. with cannabis) really dangerous for some people, but that's a little off-topic...

It depends where you live. If your in a medical marijuana state; odds are there's going to be more medical users.

I've always sort of used weed in a medical fashion. "most people" like smoking weed recreationaly. But others find it a good replacement for opiates and other pharmacuetical drugs.

To the poster that was talking about smoking weed and not doing shit. You need to quit smoking and get your life straightened out. Get a job and start working, you have to much free time.

I imagine so, but I don't live in a medical marijuana state.

Well said.

You're absolutely right. There's nothing negative about it, they legalize drugs as alcohol and tobacco and pot's still illegal, it makes no sense. Nothing seems to be correct anymore.

After 7 years of smoking nearly everyday with no side effects I began to feel some at the age of 20. I found I became increasingly anxious and paranoid when using cannabis. Not one of those people who smoke and think they're going to get caught by the police or anything like that, but just in different things going on in my life. Most of this had to do with school, for example. I would smoke and start thinking about my exam in 3 weeks or my homework due in a few days when I didn't think about it at all when I wasn't high. Maybe its a good thing to be conscious of these things, but its definitely not enjoyable. Since stopping using cannabis I now have a 3.7 GPA, so I guess it doesn't really help.

Also the amount of money spent on cannabis is ridiculous especially if you are a daily user like I was. The last thing I would have to say is the sleep. When I was high I can sleep no problem, but for some reason if I didn't smoke for a couple of hours before bed I would have an extremely hard time falling asleep.
