WTFF! my primary care doc !?

she has been prescribing me the norco 's 10-325 now for a few months. Yes im addicted to them but i dont take more than i should . I call today to get my refill and she says she will no longer fill them that i need to call my uroligist (SP) .....why would she stop filling these for me ??!!? are primary care docs not suppose get you hydros ?? i dont understand , why she is leaving me hanging like this . I dont think the uro is going to give me hydros ...ive only seen him one time !
 
She is covering her bases. If their is a pain issue that is on going the doc will send to a specialist. Still she should have given you a heads up D: !!!
 
thats what i was thinking , so now i called my uro to see if he will prescribe them to me , so now what if he doesnt ...do you think i should call her back and ask her to send me to a PM doc ?? ! ? I do have pain problems , but i am addicted to the norco at the same time ..i know it's crazy !
 
how long are PM care docs allowed to give the pills , do you know ? ? she gave me severeal scripts for them
 
She is allowed to give you pills but I think that like TAOW said she is covering herself. Opiates are nothing good to be addicted to so I think its for the best you just suffer whatever withdrawals you are going to have in the next 3-4 days and get over it.

:p i know opiates are no good for me , but atleast let me wean myself off, especially since i will be on vacation next week and ill feel like shit the whole time. I dont think that was very fair of her ...she needs to give me a heads up and say "this is your last script "
 
Primary care doctors can give you scripts for as long as they see fit. Fair or unfair, your only option is seeing your urologist. If you have an issue with your PC, I would seek out another one.
 
my uro is calling me in some pain meds and hopefully i can start weaning off of those....and then start all over again when i have my surgery. Lovely !

If you have legitimate pain, why do you think you need to ween off of the pain meds'? unless there is something your not explaining...Whats up ??

/\ Yeh something weird seems to be going on and moreso there is nothing we can do about it. This is something you should have discussed a bit further in depth with your doctor. Or have shown concern over the phone and asked her questions more questions. If my sub doctor decided to pull something like that their phone would not stop ringing for one minute and they would very much regret it. Or they would at least refer me to someone they can guarantee would maintain me on the drug. As long as I do what I am suppose to however and do not mess around. So if you call your dr early for refills to many times stuff like this can happen.

Have you done anything you can recall to provoke this?
If not maybe you can call up a more sympathetic doctor? I don't know but 10mg of norco on the other hand (if thats all you were taking a day) shouldn't be that horrible to get off of. Hopefully something comes a long but I would really call your dr back just to ask some questions maybe.

Hey yall , im in the process of finding a new doc even though i have been with this doc for awhile now . Yes i do have legit pain that pain meds are needed for and i never take over the dose im suppose to but at the same time i dont have pain every single day and i take them ( and i shouldnt ) . I have flare ups about once a month and thats when i should be taking them . I guess i need them but at the same time i abuse them b/c i shouldnt take them when im not in pain. Hope yall got that : /
The uro did call me in 5-500 (when i was on the 10-325's) so here is my time to wean off . Then it will start all over again when i have my surgery .
