I have been dropping between 60-100mg a day a xanax and a couple of glasses of wine for a night cap. Today I am having anxiety extreme, heart palps, and shortness of breath. Does anyone have any solutions?

if you are having trouble breathing and your heart is acting irregular,
you should go to the hospital - would you be able to get a ride to an emergency room?

you mentioned how much, but for how long have you been taking the xanax for?

I came around. A little wine and a solid meal helped out. I have been taking xanax 2mg a day for the past 4 years for diagnosed anxiety.

As a doc would say Adderall won't kill you but it will make you feel uncomfortable.

I dont understand why doctors even prescribe adderall...that shit is nasty & can cause all kinds of problems. Stop using it!

No doctor should say that because it's totally not true. In fact, if you look in your prescribing information you'll actually see "sudden death" listed as a side effect! 8o

If you're ever in a situation like this again, slow your breathing. You can control your heart rate to some degree simply by slowing down your breathing and taking deep breaths. Also eating something can help you come down.

Just reread the thread, that seems more reasonable lol. I think 60-100mgs of xanax would kill you. But I'm still confused as to what is 60-100mgs. Really wish people would word their threads better sometimes. :o

How are you doin today Bicycle race?

Some of the other posters made valid points here. It concerns me that you're docter would be so flippant about your meds. I hope that you taking care of yourself hun, you really got a scare last night. <3

Thanks for your concerns everybody especially Asclepius. I am feeling like a champ this morning after 12hrs of sleep. I apologize I wasn't able to articulate a more clear explanation of my dosages yesterday. I was in a very panicked state. Most of what I was going through was the result of anxiety and hyperventilation which causes symptoms that mimic a heart attack. If I would have gone to the emergency last night they would have probably just given me a benzo and put me on the monitors.

Aderall is a thorny drug and there is alot of misinformation out there on it. Let me clear some things up that I know. It won't kill and it doesn't damage your heart. The exception being people who already have some undiagnosed heart problem. Heart damage is an all or none thing- you either have a heart attack or you don't. Combining adderall and xanax isn't a 'speedball'- that would be taking adderall with some opiate. They work on completely different parts of the brain and the central nervous system.

Obviously the drug isn't for me and the pills have been flushed. For others out there who like aderall my advice is to just watch your dosages and stagger your intake every couple of hours so you know your limits.

A couple of years ago I went to the e.r. after a nights binge and this is exactly what the doctor said. If you aren't showing any arrhythmia, your bp is fine, and you are not experiencing chest crushing pain the e.r. docs generally don't concern themselves about a heart attack. In the hypothetical situation that you were to die from adderall you would generally have seizures and go into a coma.

I don't think this is an accurate statement?? Surely your heart can be weakened over the years through misuse or abuse of chemicals or drugs, no?

You displayed symtoms of Overdose last night Bicycle. Glad you got rid of the Addys. It might be a good idea to exlain the 'side effects' to your Doc?

It has been found that it can cause heart-attack(and stroke) in some circumstances; various people react differently to the same meds. Combining Adderall with alcohol/other substances may increase the risk, whether the person has an underlying heart condition or not.

People with a once healthy heart may be unaware of any changes to its condition due to diet/lifestyle and most people will not get this checked unless there is some alarming reason to do so, therefore many remain unaware.
Saying you 'either get a heart -attack or not' sounds like it is just a simple unpreventable occurence, when it is not that black/white in reality.

To say 'it wont kill and doesn't damage your heart' is a blanket statement hiding alot of the intricacies regarding dosage, personal health/allergies, or substance combinations.

Glad you seem to be taking control of the situation.:)

It's very good to be skeptical especially with a drug like this. If you are experiencing scary symptoms see a medical professional asap. My intention was to direct my post to people who might be experiencing similar things and making matters worse by panicking. My intentions are not to be argumentative with these folks. One poster had it right - doctors shouldn't even prescribe this shit. ADHD is relatively rare condition which is now being widely over diagnosed and over prescribed.

I am not a medical professional, but I know my system very well. What I know about hearts is that they don't get weak- they get blocked, clogged, and dangerous rhythms. A heart becomes damaged after a heart attack when part of it dies due to a blockage or arrythmia. It is safe to say once the drug is out of your body, and it didn't do bad things to you, you are probably in the clear. It is always better to verify your condition with a medical professional.

In my case I took 60mg over the course of the day combined with coffee and a couple of cigarettes. I knew I was panicking, but I couldn't get past the physical symptoms. Just know your limits and don't try to push them as we tend to do with drugs like this.

Well said, I think it was perfectly normal to panic considering what you were experiencing. Sure you are ok now but when your body goes into shock and you're breathing is restricted- its a clear fight or flight response to survive- it would be abnormal to react otherwise Bicycle! ;)

This appears to be true but you are wrong about the heart muscles; they can and do weaken over time, due to high blood pressure/blockages etc. The heart is made up of more than just valves.

Cardiomyopathy is a condition where the heart muscles become damaged and weakened. It occurs due to various reasons including virus, Alcohol abuse, Drug abuse etc etc

...Ok, Thats enough of the 'Med 101' for today.

60mgs is a pretty high dose for adderal isnt it? I can see why it gave you anxiety.

60 mgs is up there, but it isn't crazy. It's high if you take it all at once, but I took 30 in the morning and 30 letting some of it metabolize. Allot of people are prescribed this dose or sometimes even more. In my case 2 cups of coffee and cigs didn't help matters.

Yes a cardiomyopathy is a weakening heart. I avoided mentioning that exception because they are very rare. I think It's very good people here are skeptical about health issues. Keep questioning. M2c
