i did a search but couldn't find much specific info on this.
i've been prescribed it for depression, anxiety and pain relief, i've been on it literally 2 doses and my kidneys are fkn killing, bladder feeling a bit rough and my balls are feeling bit sharp also...

its exactly what i felt when i had too much GBL and my kidneys cracked the shits.

am i being silly thinking that the cymbalta is to blame in such a short time?
only other meds i'm taking is 5mg diazapam and 7.5mg zopiclone at night.

the list of side effects for cymbalta seems very brief compared to alot of other anti depressants, so i'd be keen to hear how others have got on with this drug.

Didn't feel or notice anything when I took Cymbalta in the past. As if I didn't take anything.

Do you feel anything with your 5 mg diazepam?

ive just been put on this too had about 4/5 doses/days now, you taking 60mg? (also take 5-10mg diazepam)

1st dose had nausea but that passed

experienced a bit of sleep interruption probably due to the noradrenaline side of it, and a mild bit of restless limbs

no other real complaints yet, though I read it can put a bit of load on your liver so a big drinker wouldn't be prescribed it I doubt for example.

It also seems to be metabolised kinda slowly by cyp2d6, and a dose of codeine (about 350mg) gave me a very mild effect not nearly as nice as normal. I suspect this enzyme interaction is the reason rather than any neurostransmitter stuff. (kinda off topic but thought id add it)

first dose i took was 60mg just by accident, should be 30mg first week, 60mg after that.
i had somnolence during the day hardcore and sleep is a bit weird, but thats normal for me anyway.

i don't drink, but my last liver function test showed it was above the accepted range, i've only taken meds as prescribed to try and limit liver damage.

Cant see it being that ime but cant say for sure obviously. I been on alot of different AD's and personally tolerated it (cymbalta) the same as any others ive tried apaart from avanza. But I'm not you, I'd talk to your Dr. AD's as you'd know have pretty much every side effect listed mainly just in case.....I mean suicide is a side affect from ADs so i'd talk to yo doc.

Sounds like it could be some of the usual nasty side effects that can come on when you start taking an SSR/SNRI.

The only SNRI I have experience with is effexor. I managed 3 days on that before I had to stop due to the side effects.

if the side effects are so bad that they are distressing you alot, it might be worth seeing the doctor and changing to another SSRI/SNRI. Be particularly careful of the psychological ones, ie if you find yourself thinking about suicide or highly agitated then you should stop (these are some of the more serious side effects of SSRI/SNRIs). Unfortunately, you are probably going to get some shitty side effects for the first 2-4 weeks. It kind of goes with the territory.

Have you tried in antidepressants before?

ive had a few antidepressants before yeah, none have agreed with me lol.
Drs keep giving me antidepressants with some pain killing properties and i can't justify the side effects most of the time.

compared to when i tried zoloft, cymbalta is ok, im just a bit more jittery and anxious. i expect some side effects, but kidney pain isn't cool.

Hi there, welcome to Sur la Table.

Duloxetine is an SNRI, used for depression, GAD and diabetic neuropathic pain.

What you are experiencing is a 'psychosomatic' response to the initiation of a foreign substance in your body that doesn't get you high. It's all in your mind, in other words. If symptoms persist, please consult your hospital, as it could be indicative of renal failure.

Another theory is the zoplicone dosage at night-time. But given that you are on 5 mg of diazepam, I don't think that there's a strong correlation between BZD withdrawal syndrome.

So you basically
1) stated the obvious
2) cortadicted yourself by saying its just mental then to see the doctor
3) span something about benzodiazapine withdrawal when he takes a 5 mg diazepam daily?

pls dont spin bollocks for the sake of it

lol easy guys.
the pain isn't in my head, i don't have bad reactions to medications cause they don't get me high.

i was on 2mg xanax a day, but even when i've stopped cold turkey i haven't had withdrawals.

it could be unrelated, but i'm very weary of taking new medication after all the random shit i've had.
i had found a few articles of people having kidney stones whilst on cymbalta, on person after only a week - this was after i started feeling the pain.

if it is from the cymbalta, ill see how i feel in a few days as i'm sure it will pass.

I've edited your post to remove unnecessary insults.

It doesn't matter if you are a doctor or not, it seems to be a bold step to assume that misk's symptoms are psychosomatic. As a doctor, you should know better then to diagnose people over the internet.

You're right. I worded it incorrectly, shoulda sed to misk that it could POTENTIALLY be the psychosomatic response

all good :)
i'm aware my mind can play tricks on me, especially with anti-depressants, so i usually ride it out until either the medication doesn't work or the side effects become unbearable.
the good news is i think its helping with my leg pains, a noticeable difference, so i'm hoping everything will pass and things will be peachy.

perhaps my response was a bit aggressive for this greenlighter 'doctor' to handle, but anyway I read the tone to be a bit presumptuous and condescending but anyway not going to get into anymore discussion on that

I haven't had any liver/kidney pain, but in terms of other effects I have noticed is a seriously dry mouth and lips. It is actually pretty dam bad I have to continuously sip water and have bad peeling lips very annoying. And I was reading a book the other night and I was like wtf I am seeing double here, it seems only to be when reading at short distance longer vision even to pc monitor is fine but reading is strange.

Here is a link to some discussion on some side effects people have had

pitty, he seemed nice :P

mcwally, so far i havent noticed too much of a dry mouth, i had a very bad reaction to TCAs and had cotton mouth 24/7.
i've noticed a bit of vision differences and loss of appetite.
kidney pain has lessened and everything else seems to be improving, i'm feeling pretty positive about it atm, hopefully that continues :)

crazymeds.us is a message board that has tons of anecdotal and emphirical information on all of these strong meds. it is extraordinarily useful for determining if the side effects are real.

yeah i came across that site when i was researching seroquel.
when i was looking for info on google for cymbalta i was trying to take the info with a grain of salt so to speak because i do know that most side effects should get better over time.

i value the opinion of users on this board as we are from the same cuntry and alot of us are in or have been in a similar mental state (ie. anxiety/depression) and have partied in similar ways plus theres some sick cunt chem gurus like Mr Blone, Drug mentor etc etc.
i know we're all still a bit different, for me, knowing when to stop taking a medication is sort of me trying to figure out which symptoms are in my head and what impact any of the longer term side effects will have on all aspects of my life.
