Recent testimony by captured drug cartel leader Vicente Zambada in Federal Court points to DEA and FBI protection and collaboration with one of the most dangerous and powerful criminal organizations in the world: the Sinaloa Drug Cartel.

South of the border, a brave Mexican journalist exposes how the Mexican government not only protects the Sinaloa Drug Cartel, but also works as an ally to eliminate their rivals and competitors.

Almost four years ago, on September of 2007, the Mexican military caught and confiscated an airplane with almost 4 tons of cocaine in the state of Yucatan. A month later, there was a plane crash in the same region, involving a similar aircraft –a Gulfstream II with registration N987SA, belonging to a U.S. company known as Donna Blue Aircraft Inc. When authorities arrived at the crash site, they discovered around 4 tons of cocaine onboard the aircraft.

The narcotics reportedly belonged to the Sinaloa Drug Cartel, under the command of Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman, whom according to Forbes Magazine, is among one of the wealthiest men in the world. However, the airplane did not belong to Guzman; it was later discovered by both Mexican authorities and independent news sources that the aircraft was used for CIA rendition flights. Mexico’s leading newspaper, El Universal, obtained the flight records and other documents related to the ownership and recent flight information and confirmed that it was a CIA aircraft.

A year later, one of the members of Guzman’s inner circle, Vicente Zambada, was captured and later extradited to the United States. Last week, at a federal court in Chicago, Zambada presented evidence stating that U.S. Government agencies, such as the D.E.A. and the F.B.I. protected him and worked with him.

Furthermore, he’s not just making baseless accusations; Zambada is actually naming names, such as “the DEA Regional Assistant for South America, the Director General of the Office of the DEA in Mexico, the DEA agents commissioned in Monterrey, Hermosillo and Mexico City , including but not limited to those who are named Eduardo Martinez “Manny” LNU, “David” LNU, and Stephen Monk, as well as other people, including FBI agents whose names are unknown but the defendant agencies are known for, ” according to court documents.

In the document, Zambada states that the U.S. Government agencies were in contact with him and were fully aware of his operations between January of 2004 and March of 2008, just months before his arrest.

Who are the real drug lords?

In a recent interview with the newspaper Diario de Juarez, Mexican journalist Anabel Hernandez, who’s living in exile in Italy, stated that in the Mexican Drug War, the federal government and the United States D.E.A. only go after the Sinaloa Drug Cartel’s competitors.

Anabel Hernandez, author of the book "Los Señores del Narco"

She indicated that the protection that Sinaloa receives from the government is ‘systematic’ and embedded in the drug war policy. She also accused Felipe Calderon of protecting the Federal Public Safety Director, Genaro Garcia Luna, who many accuse of having ties to the Sinaloa Drug Cartel, and plays the most significant role as the government liaison with organized crime.

In her new book “Los Señores del Narco” (or the Narco-Lords), she provides detailed information about how Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman, the alleged leader of the Sinaloa Drug Cartel is an Orwellian creation of the Mexican government, almost a mythical and elusive character, who’s story about how he broke out of prison in 2001 using a laundry truck is completely bogus.

She finds it hard to believe that Forbes Magazine listed Guzman among the richest people in the world, given the fact that he’s illiterate and cannot do basic math. “When he was captured, his testimony made absolutely no sense; he couldn’t come up with the exact figures he was supposedly paying his people; he could not do basic additions or multiplications,” she said.

Further in the interview, Hernandez said that the real drug trafficking is done by people other than the typical drug dealers, who are only figure heads in this so-called “drug war.” The real drug lords are not wanted by police or federal authorities; they are people well established in the political and economic systems, as well as many other areas of government, from where they have established a wide network of complicity to money laundering and protection of the drug cartels.

“These are people in positions of power, who use their power for trafficking, or who at one point of another it has been proven conclusively that their careers -whether they are businessmen, politicians, governors, presidents, secretaries of state or police chiefs- have been financed by drug money or are deeply linked with drug trafficking,” she said.

Anyone Surprised?.... :\

^^^that's almost the worst part. This is business as usual. 99.999% of americans will never hear this news and the ones who do hear it are left with nothing else but a fleeting thought of 'I told you so'.

And all the Mexican protests against the war on drugs won't ever make the news... Fucking business as usual. Ugh it makes me sick but wtf can we do?

my hope is that information technology will wake us up.

that process has already started, as seen in this thread.

Some scandalous top level shit going down there. Not suprising at all, the CIA is busy in mexico spending tax dollars & doing multi-ton cocaine runs and the DEA is at home trying to lock up anyone who takes a toke. bunch of bullshit

EDIT; Ahhhaaaa- post 420- yea!

Ya but at the expense of the taxpayer... Not to mention all the lives ruined over throwing people in prison.. for what? What is accomplished by spending so much taxpayer money on the WoD? Aside from lining the pockets of crooked politicians..

Get high to block out the pain? But seriously, I agree. It's so screwed up it's hard to know where to start.
Amen...

Old news; Chapo's always enjoyed a higher level of 'official' protection than the other cartels.

I honestly cannot say I have too much issue here, at least sinaloa isn't doing the damage that cdg/cdz are doing :\ All the cartels enjoy some official protection, but simply enforcing law and order by going after violent cartels is, in this situation, tanatamount to 'going after his rivals'.

Sounds about right.

Pablo Escobar wasn't the real head of the cartel back in the day.

No? Who was?
/honestly- I'm not very informed about the old<or current...> colombian groups
(Edit: I wasn't just saying that's old news because "the gov is in bed with cartels" or any generalized shit like that; it is pretty much 'common knowledge' that sinaloa enjoys some of the best 'protection' of any of the cartels. And, given the obviously necessary secrecy, it is impossible to know for sure, but it absolutely seems they're among the more professional, competent, and least-problematic (public violence, etc) of the cartels - so it's hard to get mad at 'favoriting' them when they're not leaving the same piles of corpses in public every day as many other cartels are doing. Not saying I support killings outside of self-defense, but at least sinaloa isn't engaging in 'intimidation killings' the way others are :\ )

Interesting article, thanks :)
I still don't see how that backs the assertation up, tho. Are you saying it was ochoa sr., his kids, or that them + escobar shared the top? Or that escobar was simply an enforcer? Sry if I'm missing something obvious, but I'm just seeing that as 'others were at the top', and didn't see anything putting escobar in any role relative to the ochoa's.

"thats the great thing about having your *coke and *smoking it too lol"<---fixed

But god damn what a racket, you can bust/kill your competition take their dope, take their property, empty their bank accounts and still make money pushing the confiscated kilos....and since you just busted the other suppliers there is scarcity in the market, so you can jack up prices too. FUCK!

It's like shit like this comes up and we all go "FUCK" and nothing ever comes of it, so the corrupt politicians and others just keep seeing how far they can push it. And without any repercussions why the hell would they stop?

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

This is no surprise to me & I have been saying this stuff for the past 10 years. The CIA & our government have been dealing in drugs for decades.

The article was re DEA ;P
But really, this isn't "they're drug dealers" as much as it's "to operate in certain capacities necessitates alliances w/ unsavory people/groups". It's not like the gov is some unit of its own, or doing these things with an end-goal of moving product.

Anyone Surprised?....

Hell no! Like lost boy, I have been suspecting that Calderone and his government have been selectively prosecuting the drug war for years. The funny thing is the average mexican national has known this for years. This is why the Arellono-Felix cartel was taken down, and other groups slip through. Its a bid sharade with huge interests corrupting the absolute highest levels of the government and civilian finacial institutions.

The movie traffick is widely accepted among maney as being a realistic portrayal of reality... "as the noose of narco-militarism tightens around our neck... we pray for martial law."

This drug war has been perpetuated by lying self-serving Enemies of Freedom everywhere. The facts of which are so unbelievable and far fetched they seem to be fictional.

unfortunately, this nightmarish assault on Freedom and unalienable Human Rights is quite real.

The sickest part is that public money is used to "fight the war on drugs" & imprison people, yet no public revenue is generated. It goes into offshore bank accounts of extremely wealthy, powerful, and corrupt people.

Wow I read your post too fast... I agree with
no public revenue is generated.
But not so much with
It goes into offshore bank accounts of extremely wealthy, powerful, and corrupt people.

There's definitely money that goes to those places, but the WoD absolutely profits many in the general public (who work in the mentioned industries). The net financial change is absolutely negative on the whole tho :/
