Drug induced panic/anxiety/depression

So basically, will I ever recover?!

It's been 2 months now. I've used mdma and cocaine multiple times before with only a few day comedowns to worry about. However, on this occasion I threw LSD into the mix. Well, a week later I had my first ever panic/anxiety attack after drinking a coffee.

Since then I've literally lost the plot: constant anxiety, depression, thoughts racing, feel like I've got a block in my brain. I've tried kava and I started taking St.John's Wort yesterday but I just don't see the light at the end of this tunnel at all. I wish so so so so much I didn't touch the acid. I fear I've drug-induced anxiety/depression/panic to deal with permanently now.

It is very unlikely that this will be anything long-term so worrying about that will just make the anxiety worse.

Caffeine can also greatly exacerbate anxiety. You may benefit from avoiding it at the moment or at least reducing if you drink a lot.

This probably doesn't sound re-assuring while you are experiencing it, but anxiety is a good way of being forced to look at our thoughts and stop believing them. Most are delusional, repetitive, and self-abusive. Anxiety seems to be an extremely narrow focus that magnifies certain thoughts and gets caught in a repetitive loop. If you can use the anxiety as a way to understand better how your mind works then there can be great benefits.

All the best :)

^This is very true. Great Advice.

Are you seeing a Naturopath or did you just decide to take these herbal supplements on your own?
Some, like kava and St John's, cane intensify feelings of depression for some, when they ARE typically taken to reduce them.
You may think about seeing a Dr. or Naturopath about it.
If you are taking other medications, these herbs can cause negative side effects or react with certain meds in a bad way.....

Keep your head up and keep us posted! <3

i decided to take them on my own..anything to just give me a break from the edgyness/depression...the kava seems to chill me out for a bit..haven't noticed much from sjw yet but its only been 2 days...i just feel like i've blown away my dopamine or seratonin or whatever happens up there..or even worse, opened up a door that won't shut with the acid...

or even worse, opened up a door that won't shut with the acid...

It is actually extremely rare that this occurs after only one time of using acid, and if it does happen it's usually due to some underlying problem that was there to begin with. It is much much more likely that this is a one-off reaction and with time you will be completely back to normal again. It might take a few more weeks, or perhaps a few more months, but you WILL be okay.

I understand you've started taking the St John's Wort and kava kava to try and reduce your symptoms but depending on the severity of your anxiety, you really should consider seeing a doctor about this. They may have some more effective treatment methods to suggest.

In the meantime please try and be healthy, as this will aid and speed-up your recovery. Eat fresh healthy food, avoid sugar, caffeine and alcohol, drink plenty of water and get some exercise in most days of the week, if you can. And of course, please give all recreational drugs a rest for a good long while so your brain can re-stabilise itself.

Good luck, take care, and keep us updated with how you're going <3

The same thing happened to me from a years use of mdma from taking it every two weeks-monthly. I didnt have anxiety and depression in over 5 years but after i did that it took me a year to recover. I feel like therapy and exercise worked best for me. I was also on ssri's and benzos after the mdma use which also may have sped up the recovery time. A year later i was off the ssri's and still tapering off benzos. Hang in there, it will go away in time

Wow..good to hear time helps but at the moment I'm just not sure. If I knew for sure it'd go in a year then I'd wait it out but I just feel a new person. Whatever happens, losing control of my mind like this will stay with me in some form or another.

Do you think I should get on some SSRIs then? I've heard some bad stories about them. I just wish I knew what caused it. As I said, never had problems with coke and mdma before so I put it down to the lsd.

You are not alone, nor are you weak or losing your mind.

panic attacks are the scariest shit ever when they first happen, and it can feel like your going nuts, but trust me, your not.

I am a fully recovered and well-balanced family man who had a similar experience to you.
Millions of people suffer from anxiety.

yes go and see a doctor, it shouldn't be something to fear, they will help you.

a mild ssri and tranquiliser will probably be given at first.
this can help immensely, and often just the knowledge that you have a chill pill in your pocket to counteract any anxiety attack is enough to calm you down.

with a bit of care, and perhaps using some breathing techniques and meditatiion, this will pass, and then you'll wonder what you were ever worried about.

you have not damaged yourself pemanently, youve merely felt what it is like to get freaked out, and now your worrying about returning to that state.
don't sit this out on your own, its much better to seek advice as youll realise how normal it is for people to suffer from anxiety as they get older, and get help in how to conquer it.

its no biggie, it just proves your human.

listen to bob marley and use online guided tranquil meditation in the meantime,. and stay away from stimulants for now.

peace be upon you my friend!!

Worthy of repeating. I suffer from panic attacks as well, use stimulants in moderation or don't do them at all. You'll be just fine :)

I haven't experienced much drug-induced anxiety/panic/depression. However, the ones I have had are extremely limited in terms of how long it effected me.

I would stay away from caffeine and other stimulants while working on reducing anxiety. What have you done to try to reduce anxiety? There are lots of things that work for people so there is a lot of hope to be had. :)

Only a doctor can answer this question. The best thing you can do is to go to your doctor and discuss your symptoms with them, then decide on a treatment method (which may or may not include pharmaceuticals at all).

Well, look, maybe a door has been opened that wants you to look through it -- we all lose our innocence at some point, our belief that reality is some particular way. LSD is famous for opening this door. So instead of this being something bad, maybe it's an invitation, saying "don't go back to the way you were, look deeper, look closer". I dunno... just an idea.

Peace...
