DXM analogs?

You can't really have name modification without structure or synthesis discussion either,

Agreed about the former, but the latter is hogwash. Of course you can discuss potential new structures without needing to discuss synthesis. Discussing new names without discussing the structures they represent is pointless, but big deal? It's not like you can't discuss new structures here.

3,4-methylenedioxy-DXM: both an empathogen and a dissociative!

I know this is a joke, but for me DXM itself is /very/ empathogenic... it's always produced strong loved up-effects, and I get much more social on it. Do you guys think it might release serotonin to some degree in a similar manner as tramadol?

Sorry for being off-topic...

It's well known that DXM is a potent serotonin reuptake inhibitor. It's also a norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor and (purportedly, though I personaly haven't seen/ben arsed to look up literature refs on it) a dopamine reuptake inhibitor.

All jokes aside, what would adding the epoxy bridge ala morphine/codeine to DXM do? Once an only wonder.

I'd imagine O-acetyl-N-allyl-nordextrorphan, or maybe O-acetyl-N-(3-methylbut-2-enyl)-nordextrorphan would be the obvious choices.

Hard to do much to optimise DXM when it is active at so many different targets with low affinity for all of them, any significant improvement in activity at any one target will tend to reduce activity at the others, resulting in a quite different drug effect overall.
