Your top 5 "drug movies" & what you watch when you're high...

Fear and loathing in las vegas ofc, Grandmas boy, Pineapple express, Cheech and chong, The wackness, Shawshank redemption, Half baked, Dazed and confused, and Death at a funeral(brittish version)... some that come to mind lol %)

Drugstore Cowboy, with Trainspotting a close second. Unfortunately I find that most smacksploitation and well drug films in general are often gimmicky or annoyingly cartoonish.

Oh mannnnn. I have to agree with Blowinkush... Party Monster, by FAR is the best movie.

Ketamine + a severely flamboyant macaulay culkin and seth green + raves + ODing + murder + crazy shit = GOOD MOVIE.

my favorite.

other good ones include:
A Scanner Darkly (based off the book)
Holy Rollers
and of course
New Jack City

The Corner. My new absolute fucking favorite drug movie (actually its a TV mini-series). It shows the harsh reality of drugs, how it destroys families, drug dealing, etc... and is totally worth watching. I became so absorbed into it and could not stop watching it. It is really shocking. There are torrents that can be found easily online.

Here is a trailer.

Actually, I've seen so many drug movies... Fear and Loathing is my all time number one favorite, but this is number 2 :)

The corner was a great mini-series, it's definitely a must watch for anyone who's a fan of The Wire, made by the same guys, a lot of the same cast, set in west baltimore and follows the lives of a family of addicts and dealers. Pretty heavy stuff, especially since it's all based on a true story (they do a quick interview with the real versions of the main characters at the end).

I actually made a list not long ago.maybe six months ago. Stored it on my phone and didn't think I'd ever post it. Yay!
Go
Fear and loathing
Spun
Requiem for a dream
Empire
Trainspotting
AaaBad lieutenant
Bully
Party monster
Blow
Carlitos way
Thirteen
A scanner darkly
SLC Punk
Wonderland
Kiss kiss bang bang

imo
requiem for a dream.

3 groups of people,
start working toward something they want,
and with solid goals,
fall short of the finish line,
and fall fucking hard.

Although unrealistically, they inject heroin and their pupils dilate, the movie really draws out on some realistic emotions and possibilities.
The plot, is so fucking easy to relate to, from any drug user, or anyone who's ever tried to achieve more than they're getting in their lives.
And really follows the very real fear of addiction, in any persons mind. Not even just the addiction to a chemical, the addiction to a want, a desire.

I haven't seen any drug-related movie like it, but i'd surely like to, or even one better :d <3
your favorite?
Good watches?
Etc.?

how high !

Permanent Midnight, Trainspotting, Requiem of a Dream and Drugstore Cowboy for Heroin/Opiates
Pineapple Express, Super High Me and Cheech and Chong for Weed/cannabis
Salton Sea, Spun and Tweek City for Meth

^ For some reason, I thought that Brick was a horrible movie.

Maybe because they only showed the drugs like once, and left most of the operation to the viewers imagination.

I wanted to see them breaking it up at "The Pins" house, and how the dudes the main character fights were pushing it. Don't just show me some skinny dude that rolls around in the back of a van with a lamp in it, and not show me how he operates.

I watched Bad Lieutenant last night. It was a pretty good movie. I enjoyed it and saw a side of Nicholas Cage that I had never seen before. After his performance in this movie, he definitely gained a fan. I usually view him as more of a boring actor, but in this movie, he was not only boring, but unpredictable. I give it a 7/10.

I'm not sure if we are allowed to post torrents, but I just wanted to share this movie. If it is a problem, mods, go ahead and take it down, I understand.

The Corner is a mini-series by HBO, but this movie will show you what rock bottom is really like. This movie shows people struggling with the battle of drugs. It includes about the most amount of drug usage that I have ever seen in a movie, and shooting up is probably the most commonly used way of getting high. It shows how drugs can tear families apart and the some of the most vivid scenes that you could imagine in a drug filled world.

It shows what addiction is like.

I've experienced some pretty shitty rock bottoms, and this is almost like watching myself fall down and then climb back up.

I give it a 9.5/10.

I cant pick one movie as the best but my top three in no particular order are as follows:
-Party Monster
-Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas
-A Scanner Darkly

As for other "drug movies" there are plenty of great ones out there including:
-Berlin Calling
-Trainspotting
-American Cowslip (just watched this last night, highly recommended)
-Pineapple Express
-Friday
-Cheech & Chong Up in Smoke
-The Holy Mountain (not a drug movie but certainly one to watch while on drugs)
-Spun
-Blow
-Easy Rider (RIP Dennis Hopper)
-Half Baked
-Scarface
-The Doors

That's all I can think of at the moment.
If it hasn't been mentioned already, the Wikipedia List of drug films is a good place to find movies based on the drugs used in them.

On a side note, there are a couple good TV series revolving around drugs:
-Weeds (comical)
&
-Breaking Bad (I highly recommend this, watch the pilot right now if you haven't heard of it already!)

When I first saw A Scanner Darkly I was having an unhealthy, habitual relationship with PCP. I haven't touched dust since that day.

I watched this last night. I've seen it before, but this time, I understood it better.

I really wish they didn't make it so cartoony. It would have been SO much better...

I think I've already mentioned this, but the greatest movie ever made (not just among drug movies, but ALL movies) was Requiem for a Dream.

Greatest movie ever.

Other good drug movies are Basketball Diaries, Trainspotting, Spun, and Drugstore Cowboy.

Just got done watching "Candy" & if this movie doesnt stop you from begining to do heroin, I dont know what movie would. It totally turns me off of even thinking of trying heroin.

Requiem For A Dream is the best hands down. Possibly the best movie ever made as ^^ said before. I'm watching empire right now, and I forgot how good it is. Very good movie. John Leguizamo is a great actor. He has a movie called The Take as well. Not exactly a drug movie, have a bit of drug use, but it is a bad ass movie.
