[MEGA] Edibles/Oral Cannabis

No, actually. For a start, I didn't state that they weren't suitable, I asked why they wouldn't be. The burden of proof always ought to lie with the claimant, rather than the skeptic. In a case of a claim like that one, which is stupid and unfounded, I am well within my rights to dismiss it unless I am provided with evidence. This is the foundation of the skeptical intellectual tradition that has served our society so well.

However, I'm feeling charitable, so I will now make the claim that such fat is indeed suitable, and then proceed to back that claim up with reasoned argument. My argument will take a bifurcated structure. The first prong centres on the fact that cannabis does not need to be in solution; the kind of oils that cannabis foods contain, or their containing any oil at all, is completely irrelevant to their efficacy. My second prong is a scientific one. Saturated fats (like butter) and unsaturated ones (like olive oil) are both perfectly acceptable for use in cooking into cannabis foods. When you hydrogenate palm oil, all you are doing is adding hydrogen atoms across some of the C=C bonds in the aliphatic chains of the fat, thus yielding a more saturated fat. It should be obvious that this simple change is not going to magically produce a new kind of fat that has wildy different properties, and that it too will be just as suitable for bakery as any other lipid (more suitable, in fact, which is exactly the point of hydrogenating it in the fucking first place).

Thank you for the wonderful explanation. I will still never use nutella over organic PB though. I don't trust that all of the THC will come out into the oil in nutella.

^It doesn't have to be dissolved in the oil, that's a myth, you could just stick it in the oven as it is for the necessary amount of time and eat it with no oil whatsoever and get just as high.

But wouldn't the THC have nothing to come out into? Surely the THC doesn't get absorbed into the peanut butter without any oils present.

Yes, it needs to be heated in some cases in order to decarboxylate THC-acid to THC, but you don't need it to be dissolved in order to heat it. If you search this thread for "decarboxylat*" (top tip, using "*" in a search is a wildcard, so it'll bring up any posts with "dercarboxylate", "decarboxylation", "decarboxylated" etc) you should find some more info, then if you still have questions fire away.

The only time I ate cannabis it was firecrackers similar to these. I ate them just after a meal and it took me forever to feel them.

Actually, after over an hour eating them me and friends were convinced they didn't work so I went back home and started being VERY HIGH there. It was a pretty bad experience because my parents were home and I was anxious about getting caught.

From almost everything I've heard it's a waste of good hash or keif to use in firerackers, or edibles entirely.

Why? Hash is much cheaper then chronic for me, it's close to the price of schwag in fact, so having to use a large amount isn't that big a deal to me. I've also been getting blond hash that can be crumbled into a powder, which seems ideal for making edibles. I've had hash brownies before, I didn't make them or ask how much was used, but they worked fine.

I just discovered a way to make firecrackers tastier, the other day I made some with cashew butter instead of PB, and they were delicious. Triscuits are the best crackers I've tried for them so far, they're very sturdy and hold up well to cooking, and are also delicious.

I find PB tastes ok, and that nutella tastes terrible in finished firecrackers. Cashew butter though, is a flavor explosion.

From what I read it may be potentially harder for the THC to come out into whatever you're baking with. Just use brick weed. No reason to bake with headies.

^Like I said, hash costs a similar price to brick weed for me, given potency. 1 gram of hash costs me what 1/4-1/2 oz of schwag would cost. If I'd use 1-2 grams of the schwag for food then that would be equal in price to about 1/5-1/3 gram of hash, so the dose would be about the same. And the effects of oral hash are different then the effects of oral cannabis, so it might be worth it. If I make any hash firecrackers I'll post here about them.

I can see how the hash would not work as well for cooking if it was standard marble hash that's sticky and stuff, but the hash I have is like greenish yellow, in hard rocks and can be crumbled into powder, which seems ideal for an extraction in food.

You dont need to link me to a page that says nutella wont work when I have already used both...
Thats like linking me to a study that says sex wont cause orgasms

Once again, the THC doesn't need to "come out".
Sounds like just pressed keif with a pollen press.
That's exactly what hash is.

Cannabutter - Need a quick response.

Sorry not to put this into the mega edibles thread but i've got some cannabutter on the stove. Most recipes I've looked at say you need to have a lid on the pot, but this pot doesn't have a lid. If I cook it with no lid will it still work fine? Does the THC evaporate or something if there's no lid on it? Am I ruining my bud?

Please respond quickly.
