I have been trying to lose weight (though not working TOO hard at it)- I had lost 20 lbs and was at a plateau I guess......
I was staying at one weight for a few weeks- where before that I had been losing pounds every week.
I started drinking, only a couple times a week, Apple Cider Vinegar in a juice.

I've lost 5 more lbs in the last two weeks (which wasn't AS FAST as before but started me losing again).
I've since read about Apple Cider Vinegar more and have found it has a number of benefits.
Have any of you taken it for either weight loss or any other reason?
If so, how have you seen it benefit you?

I know some people who use this daily for arthritic pain and others who use it for high blood pressure and cholestrol levels.
but it is good that it has started to help you kick start the process of losing weight again.
When you find you are not doing too much other than just diet it might be an idea to then start adding in exercise to keep it going as well. good luck :)

Probably not what you're looking for with this thread, ocean, but I know someone who uses it in their bathwater: It makes their skin softer and helps with their psoriasis.

I've used it while making a homemade salad dressing, though I don't remember the recipe. :P

Best of luck with your weight loss! Just remember: The slower you lose it, the slower you'll gain it back (if at all). :)

my wife swears by the stuff. apparently it's suppose to be good for just about everything....hair, skin, heart burn, etc.

she takes a shot every day.

we've also used it on my dog. he's getting old and we put a shot of it in his food every morning and sometimes rub it on his coat. it really has made a difference on his coat.

smells awful though, so he has to spend at least a few hours outside after rubbing him down with the stuff.

never heard about it for weight loss, but it wouldn't surprise me if it was used for that as well.

Actually, it IS what I was looking for. :)
I wanted to hear all the different benefits others have had from it.
I read that it can be used as a toner or exfoliate...... and did see things about eczema, psoriasis, acne and all sorts of skin issues.

I decided to buy a big bottle of the vinegar and a big bottle of v8 fruit juice and made my own mix- It was good. Not as good as the Bragg juice already all set up and sweetened with stevia- but it was pretty tasty-
The bottle says to have 2 tsp, 3x a day.........
I will have more later tonight......

Chicken, I haven't read about it helping with heartburn- but I wonder what that's all about. I do have a stomach ulcer, so if it helps with heartburn, maybe it will help with that. (The ulcer comes and goes)

I wonder what the difference between the tablets or pills and the actual vinegar is....

Glad to hear I wasn't totally out in left field with my reply. :)

Gonna have to pass along the part about it helping with heartburn--Thanks for posting that, ChickenScratch! Does your wife take it before or after the heartburn has begun?

my mom and aunt swear by this stuff....same brand too. it is said to help with everything from digestion to arthritis

plus i have always liked the taste of apple cider vinegar, it makes a great reduction with pork too

I use it to clean cuts, etc...

Slightly off-topic, but you can also use honey to heal cuts as well; no need to buy medical supplies :)

neither really, she just takes a shot a day. i think it's suppose to just kind of stay in your system and fight heart burn constantly. more like taking prilocec or something instead of taking tums for instant relief.

i could be totally wrong about this but she had awful heart burn when she was pregnant and this is when she started doing the apple cider vinegar thing, after researching natural remedies.

quick search and this is pretty much what each site had to say about ACV and heartburn

Question: Can Apple Cider Vinegar Relieve Heartburn?
Answer: Some people have reported that natural apple cider vinegar works for them, and helps relieve heartburn. They theorize that heartburn occurs because there isn't enough stomach acid, and taking apple cider vinegar brings the stomach acid level up, allowing the stomach to digest food properly and causing heartburn to subside. However, other people state that lower stomach acid is not the cause of heartburn.
Apple cider vinegar is very acidic and may irritate or damage the lining of the digestive tract. Instead of relieving heartburn, it may actually make it worse. If you are considering using apple cider vinegar as a treatment for heartburn, it is important that you talk to your doctor first.

While some people have used apple cider vinegar to treat their heartburn, it's important to note that there haven't been any clinical trials to support apple cider vinegar's effect on heartburn.

You can also alleviate heartburn by making wise choices in the foods you eat. One of the leading triggers of heartburn is the food we eat. Since we all have to eat, we need ways to prevent food from causing heartburn. The following tips can help you.

^ It is mostly due to her diet (that she refuses to change 8)). Next time she has a doctor's appointment, I'll tell her she should ask her doctor about ACV.

Hey Ocean!

I used to take it daily for a couple of months. I used to for a cleanse.

Heres how I took it and maybe you want to try it like this, I used to mix it with honey, then heat it up in microwave, It really didnt taste too bad, plus the honey is good for you too.. Try this out and let me know what you think. =]

p.S Vinigar has been used for years to combat acid which is what causes hearburn, so yeah it makes sence

There was a book called "Folk Medicine" by a Doctor Jarvis that made apple cider vinegar out as the absolute panacea for nearly every condition that could ever afflict humans.

I think most of the claims for vinegar, or vinegar plus honey are bogus but its inexpensive and not harmful so as long as no one is skipping necessary medical treatments to do the vinegar stuff I figure its good. I do find vinegar useful for sun burn and can see how it would make for a decent antiseptic. Here is an article that is a bit sour on the whole vinegar as health food proposition,

Wow, perfect timing for this thread to receive so many posts. I actually just bought a semi large bottle of it yesterday. I'm hoping to eventually make my own mustard and juice with it and to bake also.

Enki, do you use the vinegar in combination with Aloe Vera? A healer, then a balm might be a good combination.

i might go down to the store and buy me a bottle=D

OP- are you still drinking the stuff? hows that going?

^I am :)
I'm halfway through my bottle now and it is helping with digestion, and I think will continue to help with the weight loss.
My ulcer has bothered me a bit recently so I haven't seen any results with vinegar helping that at all-
I will keep you posted on any improvements I see :)

^^are you still using that drink? or using just straightup ACV?

and would you recommend ACV or a legit supplement to help lose weight haha?
