Former Alice In Chains bassist Mike Starr has been found dead in Utah.

A spokesman for the Salt Lake City Police Department said officers responded to a call about a possible body at a residence earlier in the afternoon.

'There is nothing to indicate that this was foul play by another individual,' the spokesman said.

The medical examiner's office will likely conduct an autopsy on Wednesday, but the results of toxicology tests could take up to two months.

The 44-year-old musician had appeared on the third season of Celebrity Rehab with Dr Drew Pinsky, back in 2009, where he was treated for addiction to heroin at the Pasedena Recovery Centre.

He then appeared on the spin-off show Sober House, documenting his stay at a sober living facility following his rehabilitation.

Just last month Starr was arrested by police in Utah for an outstanding warrant and found to be in possession of a controlled substance - six pills of the sleep medication Opana and six pills of Xanax, an anti anxiety drug.

Very sad, though to be completely honest, I cant say that this one couldnt have been seen coming for quite some time now.

The first real big concert I ever attended was the Rolling Stones at the old Tampa Stadium (the old "Sombrero"), and Alice In Chains was the opening act. My Aunt and Uncle had an extra ticket after one of their friends canceled on them. At the time I was only 14 years old or so (I'm 32 now) and I was MUCH more excited about seeing Alice In Chains than the Stones, as I was/am a big A&C fan.

For weeks I obsessed over the upcoming show, and I was absolutely ecstatic by the time the big day had actually arrived. Unbenounced to me, the night before the show Layne Staley (or maybe it was Jerry Cantrell) overdosed (not fatally) and A&C was replaced by...............

The Spin Doctors. :- ( Nothing against the Spin Dr.'s, but they're no A&C !!!

Needless to say I was thoroughly bummed about this, but I must say The Rolling Stones put on one hell of a show!!! Overall, not too bad for a first concert. Unfortunately I never got another chance to see Alice In Chains before Layne Staley overdosed (for the last time) and died.

I did get to see Jerry Cantrell's solo act several years later, and although he put on a great show it just wasn't the same w/o Staley.

R.I.P., sad to see another music great die.

and yeah, Opana is a sleep medication and Xanax is a painkiler?

AIC is certainly opiate music, though.
