just started this new antiphycotic to help medicate unpleasant obsessive and disturbing thoughts. i uslly smoke herb but idk if i should quit temporarilly or all togeather. previously i have had negative interaction w/ zyprexa and bud but that was when i was little and i was just wondering if Anyone ExperienceD in this matter may be able to provide insight.

google search didnt really do the trick..

Does smoking weed normally help control your thoughts or do you sometimes react badly to it? I would think that trying the medication out on its own would be the best way to find out if it works for you or not. I don't know so much about antipsychotics, but in general it is always safer to avoid combining any substances unless you know how you react to each one.

If you are being prescribed antipsychotic medication for proper reasons then it may be best to generally avoid other substances such as marijuana.

Try cutting back, or switching to strains with high CBD and lower THC (indicas). CBD is a known antipsychotic; however THC can exacerbate symptoms of psychosis. Go look on PubMed for studies.

Well ive never taken perphenazine but i have taken seroquel, risperidone, zyprexa, methotrimeprazine and chlorpromazine. The latter 2 are phenothiazine typical anti-psychotics like perphenazine and ive really only taken them for nausea or occasionally sleep. The rest ive taken for bipolar disorder.

Ive smoked weed on all of them and although it does seem to add to the drowsiness it doesent add to any bad effects atleast for me. Maybe it's your reaction to cannabis? Id suggest cutting it out for awile just to see if nothing else.

yes i sometimes have negative reactions to smoking, the best thing to do is probibly put the habbit on hiatus until i feel its not having a negative impact on my mental health. Thanks
