Well, just searched for a thread about drumstep and since there's no thread dedicated just for drumstep I thought I'd make one :)

Anyone else enjoy it as much as I do?
It is said to be a sub-genre of drum and bass but I'm not really sure what to think of it but the beat structure is "half time" and has basic kicks, all I know is I love it :P, here's some examples and favorite tunes of mine :)

If you can explain drumstep in a better way then by all means do so, just sharing what I know personally. Post some favorite tracks as well.

sounds like the inbetween of dubstep and dnb.

All of those songs seem to have this manic symbol going on throughout them to keep the tempo going. Not my cup of tea personally, it sounds like I have heard it all before kind of.

Damn that shit goes alright ay! I like it :)
And yeah, it's just a cross between DnB and dubstep, plain and simple.

BUMP
Was going to start my own thread but realized there was probably already one out there for it, so im just copying and pasting what I was going to post:

It's a bit of a guilty pleasure of mine. I guess you can say this is the baby of (jump up) Drum 'n' Bass and Dubstep. From what ive seen, a lot of the songs seem to stay more on the Drum 'n' Bass side of things, which I certainly enjoy as Dubstep has overstayed its welcome in my ear drums.

Freq Nasty played a very sick set over the weekend which had a lot of Drumstep mixed in, very high energy and really fun to get on down with my badself to.

So whats everyone elses view on "Drumstep"?

Any good tracks to share?

Heist - I Need Killers

Pendulum - Witchcraft (Rob Swire's Drumstep Mix)

Crissy Criss & Youngman - Kick Snare (Drumstep VIP)

D*Minds - T-10 (Gangster Step Remix)

Rusko - Hold On ft. Amber Coffman (Sub Focus Remix)

lOVE THIS.

So frantic.

So focused.

When the wobbly sounds start coming in....wwuuuuaahhhh wuh wuh wuh

Quite like this genre, really not a fan of dubstep at all as it just doesn't hit the spot and I don't feel I could move to it. This gives a way to dance to a good dubstep track by throwing some dnb on top.

As a lover of Jungle, Dub, Reggae, Dnb & Dubstep, this is naturally a grand genre that still has a lot of time to evolve and routes to explore :)
It's been around for quite a while but never actually had it's own pigeon-hole, so now that it does in the means of "Drumstep", it's naturally going to develope more and more ;)

I'm going to be releasing a couple of tracks actually on Iglue House Records, probably just as a 2 track "EP" type affair.
I've also done a track on one of Methodology Recordings' compilations (Safe Mode) called "Soul Comfort" :)

p.s. Here's a thread about the whole compilation "Safe Mode" :) Was released on 07/06/2010.

Most of the Dubstep I've heard is tired for me too. Like many up and coming genres before it, the novelty has worn off. That might be because it is popular and all the 'young' new jack kids are into it. In my opinion, the sound--overall--has become formulaic and derivative.

This variation on the drums and bass theme is enjoyable though.

:)

I really, really, really hate this track. The main reason is because in the beginning it really had something going for it, I thought it was going to be an uplifting drum and bass track but then the wobble comes in and kills the whole track. :\

You shouldn't expect much more from Rusko. :)
