[MEGA] Edibles/Oral Cannabis

A few firecracker questions?

Can I use .5 of good medical bud and still get a good high?
I want to conserve my weed and get the most out if it but still get a good high. I'm pretty light tolerance even though I smoke almost everyday.
I want to make these for when can't smoke somewhere.

And I want some opinions am Is it better using pent butter and mix it with some vegetable oil or is it better using that natuilla or what ever it's called?

0.5g should work.

Nutella works fine apparently. I found this recipe on another site.

Nutella firecrackers

To all who hate the taste of peanut butter but want a quick edible high: use Nutella. Yes, that tasty hazelnut confection has enough saturated fat to absorb our worshipped THC and tastes much better than peanut butter.

Here is how to use it:

1. Spread a good amount of Nutella on two crackers of your choice (graham crackers are good)
2. Chop or finely cut about 1 gram of bud
3. Sprinkle the chopped bud on the crackers
4. Press the crackers together and twist slightly to cover the bud
5. Bake in the oven for 15 minutes at 350 degrees
6. Let cool down
7. Eat
8. After an hour do your best to remember where you are

Does THC need to be in solution to be orally effective?

The common dogma is that THC is inactive orally unless in solution. But is this really the case? The body is able to take up benzos, and fats, which are not water soluble. What is special about THC? It must be heated (or cured), sure, but I think that this might be one of those myths that sounded scientific and which we all took for granted without really considering it. I think that oral THC is probably just as effective whether dissolved or not.

Questions? Answers? Experiences? Please share.

No. The issue here is that THC is normally present in Cannabis in the form of a carboxylate - THC-COOH or THCA, not to be confused with the metabolite 11-nor-9-carboxy-THC. This is how the cannabis plant biosynthesizes it and is much more prevalent in "uncured" marijuana than THC proper. Heat from either smoking, vaporization, or cooking in oils/fats/milk will drive the CO2 off of the THCA and convert it to the readily adsorbed psychoactive THC. "Curing" the buds by letting the THCA slowly release the carbon dioxide by repeatedly exposing it to fresh air works too. This isn't to say that there's "no real THC in cannabis" - there usually is, just at a low concentration unless cured and dried properly.

THC is very fat soluble, and even slightly soluble in water (a few milligrams a litre at least); the aromatic ring and the pentyl chain hanging off the end are an excellent predictor of this. THC-COOH is slightly less soluble (and much less volatile), but the carboxylate group interferes with the transport across the blood-brain barrier and binding to the cannabinoid receptor, leading to a large loss in psychoactivity unless heated. In theory if you had pure THC you could eat a reasonable amount of it and have a great time, assuming handling and weighing a waxy resinous oil was no problem.

I have heard of people making decarboxylated cannabis gelcaps that had an undeniable effect, with no solvent systems involved at all. To further this point, there is undeniable evidence that hashish can be eaten straight for intoxicating effect (probably thanks to the handling involved in making hash; also probably due to a high concentration of THC even though there may be more of the carboxylate). Mounds of anecdotal evidence also point towards "cured" marijuana being more potent and of better quality then fresh-off-the-bush stuff; whether or not it's psychological or a result of enhanced decarboxylation is a debate for another time.

Yeah, I know that THC-COOH is more abundant in fresh bud than "THC proper", I wanted this discussion to be separate from the issue of heating it making it more potent. I am talking about THC itself, and whether or not it is only orally active (or more orally active) in solution.

The problem here is that stoners are so damn unwilling to risk wasting cannabis that no-one ever wants to experiment, when we know for sure that baking some brownies is guaranteed to work.

THC is active alone (not in solution) but is difficult to handle and dose. It is adsorbed more rapidly and evenly when dissolved in oils or fats and it is for this reason Marinol is in sesame oil and stoners everywhere use butter and oils.

Eating marijuana straight and obtaining an effect is also possible; search for "canna caps".

I have a friend who once ate 3gs of nice weed to save it from being confiscated by the cops. He said it got him very high.

It works better if heated yerg, however I know from experience that it still does work if the surface area is sufficiently large and the cannabinoids haven't been dissolved in fat or 'heat activated'.

This is my personal experience, so I don't know if that helps. In fact, it worked so well, I got far too high for my liking, so my body absorbed quite a large dose at the time.

^Yeah, heating converts tetrahydrocannabinolic acid to THC. However, my question is whether, if there is no THC-COOH but only THC, solution before ingestion increases efficacy. Basically, imagine we have already heated the cannabis; will eating it as is be any less effective than baking it in a cake?

Preternatural Tolerance to Oral Cannabis

Ok...So I cant get very high off edibles...

Many experiments in the past have confirmed this...

Currently...I have eaten 3 pot cookies, one of which was sufficient for each of my 4 friends who took them, and a cheeba chew (a mmj hash tootsi-roll or something like that with .4g of hash oil)...and Nothing...well i mean, something, but nowhere where I figure I should be

I eat edibles on an empty stomach, my tolerance isn't through the roof or anything although i do smoke daily, I smoke to kick them in....

Am I missing something...What am I doing wrong...What can I do to potentiate...etc

its possible that when you cooked it the temperature was too high and you vaped out all of the thc

Multiple batches, cooked by multiple people have been ingested by me over the course of my career...

None of them have done it for me, even at absurd amounts....

And, beyond that...I have a hash edible from a dispensary in me right now as mentioned...I doubt they failed to properly prepare their product lol

If you can get high smoking cannabis but not from eating, I would suggest you're probably doing something wrong, especially if your friends got high. Was your stomach full before eating the cannabis-laced food?

I doubt it. If you powdered it then the heated cannabis will probably be more effective then a cake, due to ease of digestion.

Always an empty stomach...even tried fasting for 36 hours before...and nope...

Is it a possible metabolization issue maybe? Im confused and somewhat upset haha

THC is active orally by itself. or else the medicine "Marinol" won't work at all.

It might be the plant material itself that hinders the absorption.
