How the British Fell Out Of Love With Drugs

Hehe. Evad's not the only one even Cockney Cocknockers can't keep up with ;)

Ket was massive in the early-90s on the rave scene. Every party I went to back then had hordes of krusties kooking up ket round a campfire. Crystal meth was also available "on the street" where I lived (just a small market town in rural Oxfordshire) but that was definitely an anomaly. If the club scene is 5 years ahead of the rest of the country then the illegal party scene would be 5 years ahead of them, I suspect. RCs were fairly widely used at raves 20-odd years ago and have only really filtered through to the mainstream relatively recently. I also remember MD crystal being available around the same time years before that became common elsewhere.

In general I'd say as long as you're not the great unwashed mass of druggies in the mainstream you're probably gonna be a bit ahead of the game whatever lil scene you favour.

i really have fallen out of love with fecking journalism more liKe, its so fucking smug is journalism, "hear, listen to my original well researched story about what i know because im so cool" NO FUCK OFF, YOU KNOW NOTHING YOU CUNT!!!!

So where's whatever it was that caused peops to take dope going instead? Don't tell me todays 16-24 year olds are so impeccably at ease with their surroundings they don't sometimes feel the need for a little something. Be nice to think they've found a better, contemporarily more productive form of expression. But the way most city and town centres are now no-go areas when the pubs and clubs close rather suggests otherwise.

When I was nicked for coke possession back in the seventies, it came back from the lab as 86% pure. I told my mates it was 89%, didn't want them to think I was scoring down the pub. If all I could get was the cut garbage on offer nowadays I'd have gone on the piss instead. History, ain't it a bitch?

I suppose being a bit of a drug geek/on a mission to catch 'em all I have the rare privilege of trying drugs before even the london gay scene to gets into them. The london gay scene in 5 years will be doing drugs I am now ;).

Spill the beans dude, what's going to be big in clubland in five years then? %)

Ahh it seems the London gay scene already knows about quavers...

i agree mdma is pretty non existent unless at raves or special dance nights. It will come back though i just think the main stream occasional user gave up on the drug during the drought and there will be a time lag before the casual user will go back. But there are huge amounts of solid crystal on these shores at the moment. The supply is here now just got to wait for the demmand.

Pretty gormless article. Doesn't even mention the explosion in mushroom use when they were legal a few years ago.

I think E and coke use will have dropped with the quality being so poor.

MDMA is back down to 30/g in Bristol. That's pure. That must suggest it's plentiful again.

it doesn't suggest desperation at all, MDMA is cheap as fuck at wholesale compared to cocaine etc so naturally it retails at less, used to be got for £20/g and possibly less in these parts when abundant. Bristol is the just the cheapest UK city for most drugs.

I don't personally think that the British have fallen out of love with drugs or ever will. I just think we have fallen out of love with poor low grade quality drugs. Give us quality gear and we will consume vast amounts of any given drug.

But it is still more expensive than it was pre drought so that theory doesn't add up.

I think that the youth ( or yoof as evad called them - do you still count yourself amonst them btw ? ) have been subjected to the wonderful world of the legal high & most of them thought "fuck that" I reckon.
The local kids smoke dope & definitely had access to meph etc but they didn't seem to take to the legal high thing. Stimulants that are sold still mainly consist of amphetamine cut to varying degrees & cocaine cut to shreds - no wonder they prefer booze at least there's quality control.
To my knowledge no LSD is easily available locally, heroin is but again there seems to be much less uptake from youngsters than there previously was.
My sources are what I see in the streets around me & my teenage kids & their friends who by & large are pretty much honest about such matters with drug use.
Also I think attitudes have changed whatever mysterys the drug scene once had have been dispelled to some degree IMO due to the vast amount of information available.

I tend to agree with Mr B up there. Kiddiez round here seem to fit a similar profile. Meph never took off round here cos everyone who tried it instinctively knew it was toxic crud. The yoofdom here were used to near enough pure MD crystal (which seems to be the main "competitor") so tried it once or twice and never bothered a third time. They may be mostly morons (and I mean that in the affectionate way) but at least they have sense and taste.

The growing market amongst teenz here are 2Cs and - in particular - ketamine. Both have always been available but use and availability have skyrocketed in the last year or so and they're loving it. Weed has fallen off the map virtually, GBL was always seen as a tramp's drug, MD was out of circulation too long (but is still seen as King when available) and RCs never really took off in a big way.

I am obviously no yooungblood these daze, but Mrs Shambles kidz are and so are all their friends. I don't mix with them socially as such but I do score off them so have some vague contact wiv da yoof of today.

i laughed when i read th whole article, see it entionned an aging heroin addicted population and thru this drought, i ve seen there aare so many younger users of heroin, madness, and then it also gave a mention to the fact that purity of heroin had reduced since november ,excellent, see gears been my only drug really, apart from cannabis, never been into any thing else really, apart from the beer, never tried Es coz i just didnt see the point, and acid kind of scared me coz i got a bit of a freay head any way, i might do acid one of the days now coz im so bored with everything tho.

mds been back a year, and i dont think its become as popular so quickly as some people hedged there bets on, but there is still plenty of time

Naa, as much as I love MD, it's had it's time as numero uno in the club scene so we should stop thinking of club relevance. But now that it's been used and abused. Popularised, plagiarised, idolised and scrutinised, it's now time for it to take it's place amongst the rest of the all time greats. It won't die, I can't think of any drug that has. It will continue to wax and wane in popularity, but never reach that magic again, because it already has.

Having re-read the original report and everyone's opinion so far. Mine is the same. It's a load of bollocks...=D
