Hey guys
I have a question about alcohol, actually 2:-)
1. If i down/drink a 1.5 liter alcohol juice of 10 percent, would i get drunk?
2. If i down/drink a 1.5 liter 20 percent juice, would i get drunk?
Sorry 4 stupid question, but i just drink brandy and i wanted to know can i get drunk from what i mentioned. .
Thanks
:-)

Your height and weight are relevant factors here, without that we can't calculate anything. Also, what is the total duration of time during which you would be consuming said alcohol?

Good points, dok.

Since this is regarding dosing, its better suited for Basic Drug Discussion.

Unless the person is morbidly obese or something, intoxication would definitely occur.

The question, though, is how safe it would be. That amount of a 10% alcohol drink for a 150lb individual would result in a BAC of .282% versus .169% for a 250lb individual.

That amount of a 20% alcohol drink for a 150lb individual would result in a BAC of .563% (and a well-preserved corpse) versus .338% for a 250lb individual.

Here is a rough outline of effects of alcohol at various BAC levels (blatantly stolen from cane2theleft)

0.02-0.03 BAC: No loss of coordination, slight euphoria and loss of shyness. Depressant effects are not apparent. Mildly relaxed and maybe a little lightheaded.

0.04-0.06 BAC: Feeling of well-being, relaxation, lower inhibitions, sensation of warmth. Euphoria. Some minor impairment of reasoning and memory, lowering of caution. Your behavior may become exaggerated and emotions intensified (Good emotions are better, bad emotions are worse)

0.07-0.09 BAC: Slight impairment of balance, speech, vision, reaction time, and hearing. Euphoria. Judgment and self-control are reduced, and caution, reason and memory are impaired, .08 is legally impaired and it is illegal to drive at this level. You will probably believe that you are functioning better than you really are.

0.10-0.125 BAC: Significant impairment of motor coordination and loss of good judgment. Speech may be slurred; balance, vision, reaction time and hearing will be impaired. Euphoria.

0.13-0.15 BAC: Gross motor impairment and lack of physical control. Blurred vision and major loss of balance. Euphoria is reduced and dysphoria (anxiety, restlessness) is beginning to appear. Judgment and perception are severely impaired.

0.16-0.19 BAC: Dysphoria predominates, nausea may appear. The drinker has the appearance of a "sloppy drunk."

0.20 BAC: Felling dazed, confused or otherwise disoriented. May need help to stand or walk. If you injure yourself you may not feel the pain. Some people experience nausea and vomiting at this level. The gag reflex is impaired and you can choke if you do vomit. Blackouts are likely at this level so you may not remember what has happened.

0.25 BAC: All mental, physical and sensory functions are severely impaired. Increased risk of asphyxiation from choking on vomit and of seriously injuring yourself by falls or other accidents.

0.30 BAC: STUPOR. You have little comprehension of where you are. You may pass out suddenly and be difficult to awaken.

0.35 BAC: Coma is possible. This is the level of surgical anesthesia.

0.40 BAC and up: Onset of coma, and possible death due to
respiratory arrest.

I want to use the 10 percent tomorrow, im about 70 kg but im tall so i am very skinny. Im gonna down the 1.5 liter of 10 percent? And empty stomach

To the OP:
Drink it one glass at a time and see how it goes...

You sure about those numbers?

1.5 L is about 6 cups. At 10% (a little less than wine or a strong beer), thats only 6 glasses.

Doesn't seem like enough to make a 250 lbs person blow double the legal limit, but I haven't drank in a while.

So getting drunk on it wont be happening?

dunno, depends on your tolerance and how you metabolize alcohol.

But I would say for "average" people yes you would get drunk. I just don't think it would be super drunkeness as stated.

:-) thats good,
But then the 20 percent alcohol should do the trick..?

Yes. Approach alcohol like any other drug.

Consumption can lead to good things, but if you abuse it things go bad quickly.

I would encourage you to drink one at a time and judge the effects and dose yourself appropriately.

Seriously take it slow, that's a good amount of alcohol. You'll really regret if you get plastered and act like a moron.

If that chart is correct, that 10 percent is gona fuck me?

You know I don't really understand what you're getting at here. If you pace yourself, just as you should with anything, you should be fine. Unless you're trying to chug something, which would be incredibly stupid, you can easily tell when you're feeling it, and getting more drunk.

There are BAC calculators all over the internet, punch your height and weight into one and over what period of time you plan on drinking and it should spit you out an answer.

Myself, if I'm not near a computer and need to do a quick self check on how much I've been drinking I just convert into pints of beer.

Par exemple,

Your 1.5L of 10% abv. would roughly be equal to 3L of 5% abv. beer or 6 pints. (a decent amount.)

While your 1.5L of 20% abv. would roughly equal 6L of 5% abv. beer or 12 pints. (Drunk as fuck.)

Isn't this border line anti harm-reduction? I mean how the hell can we know for sure exactly how much you need to drink to get drunk? "Drunk" is a subjective term in the first place.. Drunk to me may be comatose to you.. Or vice versa.

Why can't you just pace yourself, and drink it one glass at a time, until you are sufficiently inebriated? If you need someone to hold you hand all the way to the bottom of your bottle you are either 16 or lacking the mental capacity to handle drinking in the first place.

Sorry for being harsh, this just sounds strange to me, and the last thing I want is for you to get hurt or something. You certainly have more than enough alcohol to get proper fucked at your disposal, so just go on a glass by glass basis and stop when you reach your definition of drunk.

DON'T JUST CHUG DOWN THE WHOLE FUCKING THING BASED ON SOME DOSAGE CALCULATOR OR ANECDOTAL REPORTS ON THE INTERNET. THIS ISN'T PLEDGE WEEK AT PHI KAPPA DELTA.
