Has weed helped you ?

why don't we go for an 18 mile run sometime? or maybe you could help me with my second year graduate studies in applied math?

This demonstrates nothing. I don't doubt that you can run for 18 miles after you've smoked or that you're a math genius. However, I do doubt that you're better at those tasks because you're high.

If you were sober you might be able to run 20 miles or have a better understanding of mathematics.

And don't brag about being a graduate student, such poor taste.

I feel like skateboarding wayyyyyy more if ive just blazed, same with reading.

I understand what you mean. Things seem more interesting when you're high. But, I think that if you were sober you would have more coordination while skateboarding and you would have a greater understanding of what you are reading.

Big time in the realm of curbing my drinking. Since I started smoking more I have been drinking alot less, its great not being hungover.

It boosts my motivation/mood and cures my ADHD/social anxiety, but it's not viable as medication for me because the effect is too short and smoking more than once a day to try and maintain it, I just feel foggy/out of it/stupid (like a stereotypical pothead caricature) and the clear-headedness, pro-social effects and ADHD relief disappear.

Good for one-off occasions where I might need a short-term boost in concentration/creativity/motivation/confidence (essays, social situations like parties etc) but for every day life or any situation where good physical coordination is required, it's just not practical.

In the long run, it's definitely been helpful.

cannabis is a beautiful drug in moderation. theres a time and a place for getting blazed. to me its after a long shift, gettin home in evening and tokin on a coupla bowls of nice homegrown weed. dont see anything wrong with that personally. also, see when am baked? i love nothing more than reading books and articles on the net about astronomy, astro physics and dead interesting stuff which i wouldnt really do when straight. i also believe that really good weed helps with studying. i dont think i would have passed my MCP, comptia exams without it.
white widow made me brainy :D fuck all common sense but academically pretty damned smart. helps me concentrate and really take in w3hat im studying.
thats just me tho ;)

all the best ppl!

overall it's been a pretty neutral influence. when i first started, i went through a typical honeymoon phase where i loosened up, made a lot of new friends and had those wonderful highs you can only get your first few months. then i went through an equally typical depression and social/scholastic withdrawal phase when i went to college. kind of sucked but i got over it and am stronger as a result.

i still smoke now (26) but feel like it has a lot less influence on my life. i'm a grad student making good grades (and working two jobs), have a great relationship with my girlfriend, and keep myself in really good shape. smoking pot helps me make breakthroughs with concepts in school (applied math) and DEFINITELY motivates me in terms of working out. it also drives me during the day to do the best i can, because i know when i come home and smoke i'll have to reflect and i'll be a lot happier if i feel proud of what i've accomplished.

so i'd say it's helped me with some things and hurt me with others. but overall i love the way it makes me feel and i live a life i'm very happy with, so i'd have to say it's worked out pretty well for me thus far.

Couldn't explain it better

i'm not "bragging" about being a grad student . . i'm letting an arrogant, presumptuous stranger know that, despite his assumptions about marijuana's effects on all kinds of people he's never met, some of us are doing quite well in our academic and athletic efforts.

and i've done plenty of comparisons of my athletic performance high, not high, and after extended periods of abstinence. i tend to start slightly faster when i'm not high, but overall times and mile paces are almost identical (i can do 20 miles. and 30 miles). i win races high. i win races sober. that's close enough to 100% for me. and i can't count the number of times i've struggled with math problems and had my post-study smoke give me the perspective i need to see the solution. i'm not really lacking for anything in terms of understanding.

i'm not saying there aren't other ways, but trying to tell me that i'm doing worse than i could be as a result of marijuana really glosses over a whole lot of things you have absolutely no idea about.

How does weed help chronically ill?

Hi everyone,
So I am chronically, well terminally ill.....
I have not had a problem with keeping weight on thus far, my question is:
How does weed help those that are ill aside from giving them an appetite?
Are there any types to help chronic neuropathy and abdominal pain?
Im trying to see if there are better optioms to manage my constat discomfort rather than taking hard core pain meds prescribed to me that do a number on me that is really not pleasant.
Suggestions?
Thanks!
Vixen :-)

Umm, I have to agree that weed can (in small enough doses!) be a performance enhancing drug. For example, I can run longer distances when I'm slightly high due to the the pain relieving effect.

I think weed being associated with laziness is a cultural phenomenon more than a pharmacological one.

Sorry for assuming you were a braggart. After reading this post I can see you are a very humble person. 8)

You're really amazing, maybe you could give me your autograph sometime, perhaps after your next gold metal? Or maybe after you win the nobel prize for math?

I thought weed was doing a lot for me over the years until I stopped smoking it. I realized that though it may be fun, I have more fun when I'm clear headed. All it has done for me is made me slower, more paranoid, and anxious. This is coming from one of those people who thought that you should smoke weed before every activity that you do because it enhances it whether that be eating, working out, going to school, going to work, etc.

I agree with what chitown said up there

Only difference is, the only thing I needed was a clear-head for situations... I.E to focus on getting schoolwork done or needed to get other work done, or physically being in class, its less work learning sober than when high...(Trying to recall stuff from class is a bitch when in a daze..)

Before bed or in the evening, out with friends, its a fuckin awesome time, and helps me get to sleep (Madd insomniac...) later on - rightnow its almost 2am, i gotta get up at 7am for work...

has it helped? Yes, I only wish I could handle it on a more frequent basis

Where else has it helped? I find my senses a bit more 'alert' so to say while im sober... ? I dunno, I just find myself feeling generally better after the effects have worn off than before I smoke or eat any hash...

Its great though, very easy a substance for me to take time off with...

Weed has help me in a lot of ways.
It helped me with some Anxiety i used to have in random situations.
It helped me socialize better.
It helped with th boring aseptic's in life.

Weed on the other hand has been a gateway for me i know its all about personal decisions..... And thats where it led me; No where.

Starts early Ends early should be the new term .:\

Weed makes the most amazing, beautiful music play inside my head. I can always make music in my head, but it's always some generic shit, unless I smoke some herb. Then I'm hearing music from 100 years into the future. %)

Yes, it's helped me a lot. And no-- weed does NOT make people lazy. Sorry, it's not a "fact"

YOU make you lazy. When I was in college I used to read medieval lit on weed.

Uncreative people get a high out of weed. Creative people get the means to turn down the noise of the outside world (as John Lennon said-- doesn't matter if it's weed or LSD, artists just want something to QUIET EVERYTHING ELSE, not make themselves more creative).

Half of my novel was written stoned. MOST of it was brainstormed stoned.

Brainstorming while stoned can be VERY helpful in coming up with ideas you didn't think of before-- as long as you have a voice recorder on hand :-)

Note- I didn't mean to sound like I was attacking people who aren't into creative pursuits, only that there is an added benefit for those who ARE. I love to smoke just to get high as much as the next guy.

But a lot of people are just plain IGNORANT. They take information, often without even thinking about it and reply it as if it were a rote fact.

You can use marijuana to lose weight. It seems counter intuitive, but if you CAN think outside the box (something pot smokers are **supposed** to be good at), you can see how it will work. How does it work? same as ankle weights for runners. Use the munchies to develop will power. If you can fight off the munchies while stoned then you'll be able to EASILY fight off some of the worse eating habits you have while sober.

Marijuana has the potential to be a great tool, or a fun hobby. There's no reason for people who like it as one of those to pick on people who use it for the other.

It's helped satisfy my obsession with it. If I didn't live, breathe and sleep all things cannabis related it would eat away at me, making me agitated and depressed. Even if I weren't able to smoke it ever, but were allowed to grow it, I'd still be quite happy.
