i have just got my hands on one of these and have never taken it before.....what is the best way to take it? My friend has taken it by snorting, plugging and by mouth and says she does not get any buzz at all! Any suggestions would be helpful!
 
60mg is a lot to take if you've never taken opiates before, have you taken oxycodone or other opiates before?

Does your friend have an opiate tolerance? There are currently a few versions of OxyContin floating around, the new abuse-resistant version with "OP" on the pills, and the older traditional version with "OC" on the pills.
 
Have you ever taken opiates or do you take them much?

If no than I wouldn't recommend anymore than a quarter of that 60mg. 15mg would be fine for an opiate naive person. Also, if the pills say "OP" on them then don't snort them, just take it orally. I would suggest you take it either way, OP or OC. It has a higher oral bioavilability.
 
oral is definitely the way to go as K'd-OUT said. if it says OC then take a 6th to a 4th of the pill and just take one chomp on it before you swallow, it should break pretty easily. if it is an OP then itll take a little more chewing, either way the point is to get the piece of pill into as many little parts as possible before swallowing. also be warned that both versions will try to stick in between your teeth or elsewhere in your mouth.
 
That should be placebo because its specifically designed so that the time release cannot be defeated and they do a good job of it. Out of the tons of ways people seem to say that it can be broken, putting in vinegar, letting it sit in coke, etc. I have never found one way that works.

The first time i tried oxycontin (oc 80) i chopped it up with a razor blade as fine as possible and then swallowed a quarter (20mg)

This was the perfect starting dose for me as i had no opiate tolerance,if you take more theres a good chance you will be sick.

and to the op. id do 20-30 mgs depending on your age/weight. i did 22.5 when i was 16/150 lbs and it was perfect.

also smoke some bud when you start feeling it pretty nice and it will amplify the effects sooo much.
 
10 mg oxycodone is a good dose for a full on opiate experience for an opiate-naive individual. Not right for everyone, but certainly was for me. Of course, that was in an immediate release formulation of oxycodone, not OxyContin. Certainly don't take the whole pill. How do the OP's even work? Do they say half the dose immediately, and half 6 hours after like I would assume? If others confirm they do, I would recommend you take a quater of the pill left in tact. 7.5 mg will be released right away, and another in 6 hours, but chances are you will still be feeling the 7.5 mg if you have no tolerance. That is the way the OP's work, right? That wouldn't be a bad dose for an opiate-naive individual. You don't have an opiate tolerance do you?

if thats true i would just pop the whole thing if i were op.. or use the guide i posted. thats if there op's of course.

if theyre oc's you can do anything with em
 
Do not pop that entire OxyContin if you have no opiate tolerance! My advice would be to cut it into quarters, and just pop ONE quarter whole. That is 15 mg which will be extended release. It will be pleasant if you have no opiate tolerance. Shouldn't people start with vikes, before jumping right to OxyContin? 8) Joke. But really they are easier to adjust to the right dose (a low one) for opiate-naive individuals, same with Percs, and all the other stuff with APAP. Something about those big pills just says yum to me. Seriously, though just keep the doses low! I wouldn't take more than a quarter.
 
Thanks to everyone for the advise! I do have somewhat of an opiate tolerance......... take percs and vicodin daily but have never done oxycontin before. This is an OP 60mg and seems impossible to break, crush etc.......when i chew (which is very hard to do) it just turns into a gel like substance which of course is then not able to be snorted. Guess orally is bout the only way to take these? do you still get a buzz even though they are time released?
 
Yes, you would still feel it. You do know that Percocet contains oxycodone, the same active ingredient in OxyContin, right?

Oh, if you take Percocet and Vicodin daily then you may need to take 1/2 (30mg). Just go by how much oxycodone your currently taking and take a little more (since its time release, it won't feel as potent). Hydrocodone will add to your tolerance.
 
Alex....i did not know that! So what makes oxycodone and oxyContin different? Is it just that perc doesn't come in that high of a dose? Am confused :-)
 
Percocet is oxycodone + acetominophen, and only comes in 5, 7.5, and 10mg doses. It is instant release.

Oxycontin is just plain oxycodone, but an extended release formulation. The new OP's are pretty much impossible to defeat the time release. With the old OC's, simply crushing it would work just fine.
