Don't share any paraphernalia. Period.

listen to this man. One anecdote: I knew a girl who used vaporizer bags for whippits and this like gnarly balck fluid buildt up as condensation and other people would do whippits out of them and I was like no fuckin way, eh, and they all ended up getting some gnarly fungal lung infection that was like ultra rare or something. Fucking gnarly. Not to mention all the gils I knew (I went to a rich fucking school and am a lower class kid but was on scholarship) and they are like fuckin at least 25% Hep C/ HIV/Herpes positive shit is gnarly and noone really knows where they got it but I would say sharing coke straws is like a hug deal in this in reality especially at coke schools like where i went, and to some extent needles, although not as commonly.

^ Honestly I am scared to -death- to get tested, I know I have done permenant damage to my body somehow. When I was younger and knew nothing about drugs I used to take a lot of Vicodin and Percocet, well over the 4g a day guideline. Used to do more like....15g a day...amongst other things.
My liver proally looks like a block of Swiss Cheese

Guess it's better to know than not know, because eventually, you will know, one way or another. I just fear the worst. Ugh I hate to think of it even.

Your liver is extremely resilient, if it's been a while it would be completely fine.

That's why it's actually hard to die from liver failure due to alcohol use, you have to drink every single day for months if not years... (I hope that doesn't offend anyone, my grandpa died from liver failure from alcohol abuse)

im sorry to hear that, i really am.
my grandfather is drinking himself to death..
He drinks everyday from 2-6pm about 10beers and has been doing it for years (about 10) and he doesn't believe me that it is going to end up killing him, and no one else in my family will back me up to get him to stop drinking :( .. oh well, when life looks at you cross eyed kick it in the face i guess.

i think everyone is probably scaring the crap out of this kid... No, dont share ur straws, or anything else, but as someone else mentioned..... as long as ur SURE it was ur blood, u r likely fine. however, u most certainly can get hep that way. hpv though? of a genital nature? no. no i dont think so. unless right after u did ur line u touched yourself profusely. besides, most sexually active ppl have hpv, not all strains cause warts. they dont even test 4 it unless u have symtoms (abnormal pap, warts). u r most likely fine. i dont think ur past pill use fucked ur liver either. ur not very far down the rabbit hole! it is scary to get tested, but u need to do it anyways OR stay abstinent, it wouldnt be fair to inflict a disease on someone b/c of it.

I have had HPV for years (im a male) and i have never had ANY complications from it.. no warts, no rash type shit, nothing.. it is like i don't even have it. But i do unfortunately. I got it from my son and daughters mother either through sex or we did share snorting bills/straws/needles multiple times a day :\ .
She has Hep C and i don't, she contracted it after we split up. I'm just glad i got HPV from her instead of Hep C.

There are many different strains of HPV. Only some cause genital warts.

I agree with other posters that:

1) It is very unlikely that any lesions on your genitals are related to any infections you might have picked up from snorting anything. The likelihood that you picked up any virus in this way is very small.

In theory, if someone else infected with all the popular viruses bled onto the bill just before you ruptured your capillaries, then a virus could be transmitted. The likelihood of transmission depends on how much virus is in the blood. Typical values for an infected person are roughly:
HepB: 10,000,000 per ml
HepC: 1,000,000 per ml
HIV: 100,000 per ml
HPV: <100 per ml (rarely detectable at all)
Consequently, the transmission rates for a single needle stick with infected blood are in the range of
HepB: 30%
HepC: 3%
HIV: 0.3%
HPV: ?? probably < 0.0003%
You didn't get a needle stick, you probably didn't have any blood-to-blood contact and any blood you might have encountered probably didn't have any of these viruses, anyway. Thus the likelihood you picked up one of these viruses is much lower.
(There are also EBV and CMV, but you probably already have one or both of those). If transmission was very likely, you could take antiviral meds to prevent the infection from becoming "permanent". If it were me, I wouldn't even consider this for such a low-risk situation. I mention it so that you will know what to do when you wake up with a needle still in your arm in a room full of unconscious heroin addicts you don't recognize.

2) You should consider getting tested in a few months for Hep B (at least), and perhaps Hep C and HIV. The standard tests for these measure your antibodies to the viruses, so they would probably still be negative now. This might be worth doing just to be certain, even if the actual risk is quite low.

I don't totally agree with some posts that, among other things, dismiss HPV infection as completely inconsequential. So here's my 1.5 cents worth on that subject:

I) Something that looks like warts on your genitals most likely is warts on your genitals. Gonorrhea could also fit your description. If it doesn't hurt like hell (at some point), then it's definitely not herpes and probably not syphilis. If you would like a more professional evaluation than that, go see a doctor. You don't need to ask your doctor if the bumps came from snorting cocaine, 'cause they didn't. You might want to explain, or at least think about, what else you might have done to get them.

II) Warts on your genitals very well could be caused by some form of HPV. There are dozens of different subtypes, and most people are probably infected with at least one. If you do have HPV-induced genital warts, the virus probably got there through sexual contact. It may have been longer than a couple of weeks ago. It could also be spread through contact with skin or other...body surfaces. It is extremely unlikely that it got there through your bloodstream from anywhere else in your body.

III) If you have genital warts, you may spread HPV to sexual partners. Although there isn't much HPV in the blood, there can be quite a bit in semen and sometimes on genital skin. (Think soap & water.) If it is one of the "bad" subtypes, then whoever you give it to might get cancer from it 10 or 20 years from now. That would be cervical cancer, anal/rectal cancer depending on which side of the plate you're swinging from. Actually, the transmission rate in anal sex is probably much higher, but this hasn't been indisputably proven. Still, Farah Fawcett died from anorectal cancer, even though the guy who gave her HPV undoubtedly stuck it in other holes, too.

IV) There is now a vaccine for HPV. It has not been around for very long, and it is not currently recommended for men. The recommendation is purely politics; boys should be getting the vaccine, as well. If your unfortunate sexual partner who you infect with HPV subtype 16 has been vaccinated, she (or he) will not get cervical cancer. It might therefore be nice to warn future sexual partners that you could transmit the virus. Very few people actually do this. A simpler approach would be to convince her that she should be getting the vaccine anyway.

And finally, next time bring your own damn dollar bill (or pipe, needle, etc.).

BTW As you may have guessed, I am a virologist. I'm not licensed to practice medicine on Bluelight, though, so PLEASE don't send me any pictures of your penis.

lol..

CH there was a case here of a teenage girl who had the vaccine, (UK) she was not sexually active, but there was a round of vaccs in the schools. She *I think* died because of complications from it.

When I used to do coke, my SO made me little aluminium pipes at work..he must of made hundreds for the people we know that wanted them lol..just clean them out before each friday night and you're good to go.

There's nothing worse that sharing a note with about 10 other people and have it handed back with snot on it *I think I just puked in my mouth a little*

*edit*

I didn't see the bit about giving men the HPV vaccine., but in any case there is a stigma attatched to it here, for anyone because of what happened to that young girl.

Has the amount of alcohol needed to cause serious liver damage been quantified?

How do you know you have hpv? As far as I know, and I'm by no means an expert on hpv, there isn't a male test for it. So, to know you have it you'd have to show symptoms...

Where'd you get those numbers from? Only reason I ask is 'cause I have the impression that a needle stick with hep c would lead to infection in more than 3% of the cases.
Thank you for the very detailed post.

Can you tell me why there is "politics" behind not recommending men getting the HPV vaccine?
One of the vaccines is approved for men 26 and under.

Speaking of hpv, there have been a few recent articles about the supposed increase of oral type cancers due to hpv and oral sex... Just Google it if you're interested.

Hep C and Any Disease is Unlikely but Very Possible even with Microscopic Invisible To The Naked Eye Cuts/Blood Inside the Nostril before Or While Snorting.

U will not get hpv from sharing a straw or needle because hpv is not transmitted via blood, plain and simple.... u can however get hiv, hep c, and syphilis from either method. U would have to have an open lesion in your nose for it to enter your blood stream though

This is not true. You do not have to have an open lesion in your nose, your nose and nasal cavity are mucous membranes, and that IS all open for all kinds of bacteria and viruses to pass through. That's why some drugs hit you quicker taking them that way, there is no skin to block access to the blood vessels. You could also most certainly catch HPV this way. You catch it through oral, anal, and vaginal sex because, what do all three of these have in common? MUCOUS MEMBRANES. Not saying it is common, but it can happen.

Never understood why people used straws or especially filthy money to do drugs.

Just use your nose... Much better.

Anyway, yes, you can get all sorts of diseases. Get tested.
