The Deep thread

tyrant sound system next weekend too are playing in leeds MDMAhead - they're playing with modeselektor at Modern Amusement, get yourself over there it's a great night.

I did see that night, but I'm really not sure I can make it :(

- Lee Burridge is my favourite DJ, and I have gone to some ridiculous lengths to see him in the past, but next Saturday might prove problematic :(

- I wish he'd play in Manchester (it's been almost 18 months since his last Manchester appearance), and preferably on a Friday night :)

Out of this world:

Xiasou - White Window

8o This track just blows my mind. Deep, dark and psychedelic. You just know that people who listen to this kind of music use drugs. =D

That was amazing!!!! Reminded me a bit of Four Tet - Plastic People, except with a house beat. It had a simplicity to it in that the whole track was based around 1 riff, but as with all the best deep music, the detail and the quality of the production are what make the track so good. Excellent stuff!!!!

this sounds like if Aliens landed on earth for first official meeting and then somebody made documentary about it and that tune would play in background, thats how it feels :D

I absolutely love it!!! - possibly my favourite track of 2010 (although I only heard it for the first time yesterday). It's got that contrast between the sci-fi synths and the dirty breakbeat. Such a simple track, but it really pushes all the right buttons for me =D<3%)

Yeah that is a pretty cool track. :)

One other really cool track is Long Circuit by Milton Jackson vs Droido. Unfortunately it's not on Youtube and not one junodownload either. I did find it via the file sharing feature of this Russian social networking site, but you have to be a member to stream from there. ;)

I might just upload it to Youtube sometime soon!

I feel it's my duty to post this here (as well as in the 'minimal' thread):

Alex Smoke - Random As

- this was Alex Smoke's first ever release (from 2002). It's got an evil techno rhythm (that sounds a lot like 'Spastik' by Plastikman); an evil techno bassline; and a beautiful deep synth melody. This is exactly the kind of stuff Slam used to play in their sets when I saw them at Fabric around 2002/03.

- within 2 years, Smoke got signed by Soma Records, and became one of the superstars of the 'minimal' genre :)
