Opioids can opiates permanently change your appearance

I have been using opiates since I was 16 and now have finally stopped at the age of 18, the whole time it has basically killed my sex drive. until now!

but my facial structure has kept a soft feminine structure and has barely changed I am wondering if this could be because of the lowered testosterone level my body has had for the past two years.

I am worried weather this could have permanently effected my appearance or will there be a rebound effect now I have quit and started working out while I have this peak of testosterone.
 
It could simply be the way you were genetically predisposed to look, but if you missed critical development periods as far as bone growth and structure are concerned, that isn't going to change :(.

As your testosterone levels return to normal, you will likely see a reduction in body fat and an increase in muscle so that is definitely something to look forward to.
 
At 24 I was 6'6 245 pounds of solid muscle, used to do competitive powerlifting. Then I broke my back. I am now over 300 pounds of horrible body fat. So yes, opiates do change your appearance, but not forever. If you stop taking them at your age you will be just fine. Your body doesn't stop growing until the age of 24. Most people peak at 20 or so but your body is still developing til around 24. You will be just fine man, enjoy the testosterone rush. Fuck mad 18 year old, goddamn...to be young again...

Gaining 55 pounds because you broke your back is hardly opiates changing your appearance.

I feel I wasn't very clear in my first post, I don't want to make it sound like things are never going to change from how you are now or anything like that.

You're still very young, in terms of height, some bone structure, etc (even some areas of sexual development) you still have growth left to do!! Be encouraged by that :)

The best thing you can do now is pursue a healthy lifestyle. You've come far already by getting off of opioids, but working out and eating a healthy diet will do absolute wonders for you at your age. It also wouldn't hurt to see a doctor and get labs done to find out where you are in terms of nutrition, hormone levels, etc. This can help get you back on track to health, and your doctor can also work with you to supplement testosterone if needed (although I doubt it will be.)

Opiates do effect testosterone production/regulation.

And Burroughs gained some notoriety for writing in junky something like "perhaps if a junky could maintain himself in a constant state of dope saturation he would live to some phenomenal age"...this was controversial but I seem to remember at least some doctors agreeing on the issue of age-retardation and opiates. Unlike uppers which make you seem to age faster.

I should of clarified things a bit. I still ate healthy and tried to stay as active as I possibly could, but the morphine and Lyrica for some reason I just kept putting on weight. I know that's a side effect of Lyrica, which I know isn't classified as an 'opiate', but why is it when I am in withdrawl I take my Lyrica and the withdrawl stops?
 
ya i stoped H like 6 months ago and my face is startin to look a hole hell of alot better. plus my sex drive is back in full force. =D
 
Drugs affect everyone differently....

Some people lose weight and some gain weight... Me personally i lost weight....and got anti-social a hell lot more.... I would rather just chill at my house smoking blunts and doing lines rather than go out and party or chasing pussy....

I used to be pretty fat, now i am 6'1 and about 155lbs
 
yeah I mean it does cause you to produce less/stop producing testosterone, but as far as actual bone development? I am not sure about that.
I know smoking cigarets during young development can cause you to not fully develop. But I have never heard the same with opiates. It very well could hamper it but as far as completely stopping it, I think you'll be fine.
Like someone else said you are very young and most males don't stop going through puberty until around 22-24. So the largest possiblity to me is just you are not done with puberty so you still might have the "baby cheeks". IE your muscle development hasn't fully taken place yet.
 
Look man, either way, you're 18 years old, you stopped doin drugs, good for you man, don't go down the path a lot of us have, ive been doin opiates for over 10 years straight and let me tell ya its a bleak existance.

You're gonna be just fine if you stop now, your body will recover and you will proally not have any real damage. I don't know exactly what kind of drugs you did so I can't really say you haven't done damage to your body, but if you stop and stay clean I am sure itll recover.

Stay clean man, be smart.
 
Opiates should only be used for pain but we eventually like the feeling too much & stay with it. Some people say its a dead end road but I say, it beats sticking a gun to your temple which is worse than living with an addiction.

As far as the appearance thing, im dating a young girl & shes been doing opiates for 3 years & it seems she gets prettier by the day. She doesnt do heroin or needles & only sticks with vicodin & oxys.

How you age & what kind of appearance you're showing could also be hereditary. My father is 72 & everyone tells him he doesnt look a day over 60. Im told I look 10 years younger than I am & my siblings also look way younger than they are. It is what it is.

I was also wondering about opiates and testosterone. I have been using IV heroin for around 6 months now and i have noticed that my facial hair still doesn't grow in. I know everyone is different and some people simply dont grow facial hair but all of my family does, my 16 year old brother grows a full beard and i grow little bits here and there but it isnt even close to what it should be. I'm 20 years old and i have been using opiates on and off since i was 15 or so, but only using heroin consistently for about 2 months now(by consistently i mean every day). I was wondering if anyone else has this same problem?

I didnt grow a full beard until I was in my late 20's & I didnt use opiates until my late 30's so I wouldnt blame opiates for not having a beard like your younger brother.
