Any vegans in the house?

What's really strange to me is how many Americans, who have access to so much.. who have this world of amazing foods at their fingertips... still eat at a the drive thru or out of a microwave... when many of them could afford to be eating an all organic, nutrient rich meal plan. Just because they are lazy and don't want to learn to prepare food.

It blows my mind...

not true. dont know where u live, but here organic food is really expensive. basically, most good plant food and any food you have to combine in order to get the most nutrients from, in a week time for me it becomes really really expensive. and i disagree with fast food being cheap and easy to get. its cans. cans are easiest, least expensive most accessible food.

canned food usually has to much salt imo. plus it is like years old. i would rather eat super healthy awesome food then spend money on anything else. eating well is my #1 personal priority because with out that nothing else in my life can function at optimum levels. interesting discussions btw

*chomps on a can* Yummy, I can feel the energy rushing through me!

On a more serious note.

What he brought up is many people can afford an all organic, nutrient dense diet... Given they probably give up one of their possessions. I bet a family of five could switch from a junk food diet to a plant based one by simply giving up their televisions. It's what, seventy extra dollars in your pocket every month. It'd be just enough to make the change.

I don't know. I'm sticking my grounds at least and saying the USA as a whole is a wee bit overexaggerative. Plant food is really all we need (my opinion only, I hope I don't get raged for a standoffish comment), everything else is extra fuel in the engine.

And hey, if you can your own foods, more power to you! I completely support anyone who cans or freezes food to keep for later.

I eat an almost completely raw AND organic diet and I work at a minimum wage job. What you've just said is exactly my point; its about priorities. People who make FAR MORE MONEY THAN ME think that good quality food is "too expensive" and would rather eat out of a can. I've seen friends who make over 20 dollars an hour eat like this. Bullshit they can't afford good food. They don't want to bother because they are lazy and it isn't a priority. Buying cool stuff is a priority. Having the newest Iphone is a priority. But not healthy organic food? The most fundamental building block of our bodies, the most important thing to a healthy life???

If I can afford good food on very little money, anyone can. I'm not talking super poor people in third world countries or homeless people who are starving here, obviously there are people who literally cannot afford food. I'm talking any working Americans who make decent money.

Yes, exactly! THANK GOD some other people out there get it. Sorry to go on a random rant, it just drives me crazy, you don't know how many friends I've seen who are like "I could never eat healthy, it's too expensive." While they are playing on their new video game, or wearing their expensive clothes. People's priorities in this world disturb me.

Food is expensive. And it should be the last, not the first, thing to be sacrificed from your budget. But hey, if people want to destroy their bodies that is their business. But it is something that disturbs me a lot about America.

Telling people doesn't work, they either get mad at you for trying to wake them up (I've actually had people cover their ears and go "NO! Blah blah blah blah" as not to listen when I try and tell them something about healthy foods) or they just say "Yeah I know" and then continue on as they were. So I think if we want to help change the world all we can do is be the best example we can be. I hope if I can attain glowing health, amazing stamina and strength, a clear mind that shows, etc people might stop and say "hey, I wonder what she's doing". :)

I found some cans of tuna and salmon that are preservative free, hopefully chemical free, and very low in sodium... Veganism can now bite my ass!

i drink fortified soymilk, it's got tons of b12 in it...the b12 argument is silly imho. also, basically anything like orange juice, wheat flake (Total) cereal, oatmeal, etc has been fortified and has b12 in it.

The most important nutrients for a vegan are vitamin B12(Methylcobalamin being my choice), as it is found nowhere in the plant kingdom.

And Vitamin D3(4000IU-5000IU per day for several months until blood tests yeild plasma levels of ~45nL for males) D3 intake can be reduced by 1000IU in the summer.

HOWEVER, before you go out and buy supplements make sure you get blood work to see if you actually need it(Although as a vegan I can pretty much gurantee you will need them)

Not until we know more (Source)

Getting a nice dose of B12 from MARMITE. Its a brewers yeast.

no shit people dont listen. being judgmental, criticizing people is just awful.
not everyone will enjoy what you eat. and besides many might feel so much better not spending so much on food (actually be happier) than spend on "healthy" food (oxymoron btw cuz food causes oxidation no matter what antioxidants you take so there is never healthy food or healthy air or healthy water). you naturally decay. i guess some people are not as obsessed as you are and some others who have addiction to live up 100 if possible and be "healthy". not completely true at all food influences so much your ability to live well. i know of many people accomplishing things in life based on eating cheap and not what you obsessive food addicts call "healthy food". simply because they have better genes. yes, it is mainly and most importantly based on genes. like some people do not even have certain enzymes to digest all types of plant food. anyway, i dont expect you stop criticizing, or just being judgmental of people. i guess your character is such. :/

asecin: So everything is "unhealthy" in your opinion? Do you live in America? Very strange view points you have....
