Top 10 Essential Hip-Hop Albums

IMO, his sound brings nothing original to the table.

nothing is original

not only that but rap almost as a whole is far from original. it all depends on how you look at it really, but if originality is your absolute no. 1 importance, i doubt you'll be a rap fan for long.

to that end a large part of rap is just how well you do what you do. how original was biggie?

You can argue nothing is completely original. okay, sure, why not.

The point is, Lil Wayne sounds like a lot of other people out there. That is to say, a lot of people can put out music that sounds exactly like his. You can't say that about Biggie (although, nice try Shyne!)

I ain't feeling 2 well ATM cos i got the flu. i'm confident give or take a few Albums that this guy represents proper Hip Hop 2 the fullest so jus about anything he's down with so am i although we have varying opinions on Gangstarr;)

that's not what i'm arguing. i'm saying the vast majority of rap is bland and unoriginal.

"The point is, Lil Wayne sounds like a lot of other people out there."

be specific in your POV. are you saying that's why YOU don't like lil wayne? (assuming you don't like lil wayne and aren't playing devil's advocate)

btw everyone in rap is rapping like biggie/jay-z because that's what they grew up on. everyone is trying to sound like lil wayne because he set the standard. i don't see validity in ur point. what if i don't listen to everyone else and only know about lil wayne?

is that really why you don't like his music? i don't like music because it doesn't SOUND good.

At the end of the day, we're really debating about individual opinions, which vary widely from person to person. The hip-hop that I personally enjoy, is more like this or this. Now, how that differs from Lil Wayne and his ilk, I'll let you decide. Whether or not it's better than Lil Wayne, I will also let you decide.

It's all personal tastes at the end of the day, and I often forget that.

I don't mind Lil Wayne. He's pretty entertaining. I just don't think he's a great rapper.
