Okay I have been snorting 60 mg of Oxycodone once a week. Sooo usually what happens is I snort portions of 7.5 mg or 10mg at one time over the course of 3 days from say idk friday until sunday night than I will not snort anymore Oxycodone until next monday. I have managed to keep this up for about 2 months or so. I recently just got a lot of money before I could not do it. I was just wondering if this is a good idea? Or will my tolerance slowly creep up on me same with physical dependence or should I be good?

Your tolerance will go up, that's for sure. As far as dependence goes, some people are able to do to the weekend thing, some are not. Just be warned that the longer you do the weekend thing, the harder it is going to be to just do it on the weekends.

Does this mean you want an answer if you upped your dose as you would get more money and you would want to spend it on oxycodone?

Either way it's not healthy to take an opioid on weekend for 3 days and then make a very short break. You've been doing it for 2 months now (so 8 weekends), I imagine you will start to have mild withdrawal effects if you continue doing this. And if you make your doses higher, it will become apparent even faster.

This way you're on the road to physical addiction (psychologically you're already addicted, I hope you're aware of that).

Ight well how often should I do it without having to worry about any physical addiction at all.

I posted a similar thread a couple years ago. Almost identical, actually.

At the time I was making six figures and thought I was invincible.

Now I'm an unemployed full blown oxy addict! It started with Codeine, then DHC, then Hydro, now Oxy.

Yay.

But that's just me... Your mileage may vary. But I doubt it.

So many BLers will tell u this but it all starts with weekend thing, then almost always ends in addiction. the drug itself really isn't worth all the bad side effects it has. It's such a psychological mind fuck I think that even once a month you will still see ur self thinking of the next time u can get high.

Just my 2c.... I went codeine-hydro-oxy-oxymorph and still spend every extra money I make on it, sometimes not even "extra money"

Tolerance will increase, but if you actually keep it at one time (one dose) per month, you won't be physically addicted.

this is classic addiction progression. any opiate addict will tell you they started out the same way. first its a social thing, then you move on to weekends and notice you are doing it by yourself. after that your tolerance will go up which result in you seeking more powerful and cheaper high.

if you have family members (specifically parents) that are addicts or recovering addicts that is a strong warning sign that you are vulnerable to addiction. there is a large amount of warnings a doctor will notice and often advise you that you are in the danger zone of becoming an addict.

almost every opiate addict will tell you they also progressed to stronger opaites. like a lot of posters said it starts at a less potent opiate (hydrocodone/codiene) and progresses to stronger more dangerous chemicals.

hydrocodone/codiene->oxycodone->morphine->dilaudid->heroin

as your addiction progresses you will also resort to more harmful ways to get high such as insulflation and IV use. some people are quite capable of being a "weekend warrior" these are people that have little to no exposure to the "gene" that seems to result in addiction. addiction is pretty much a persons inability to cease using a chemical in abundance and inability to take long breaks from a certain chemical.

having no knowledge of your background it is quite possible you are a type of person who can put it down and leave it for long periods by using self control and discipline. most likely, i am sorry to say, anyone who picks up an opiate wether is be for social or whatever reason leads to a habit and then finally an addiction. use all the will power and discipline you have and take a long break from opiates (im talking a month or two) let your mind clear up and reevaluate what yo uare going through and examine why you use the drug.

The easiest way to prevent addiction is to keep a level head. Making schedules like "oh I'm going to use on the 5th of every month" usually end up failing. Rather, find other joys in life, and once in a while indulge in opiates, easiest way to do that is to ensure that its somewhat of a pain in the ass to obtain. If your dealer lives 10 min drive away, make yourself ride a bike or walk to get there so that you have to actually commit some effort.

Secondly, recognize when you have a draw to a substance. After using every weekend you develop a habit (different from addiction) and it becomes tough to enjoy your weekend without it, which is why I believe opiate use should be rather spontaneous and unpatterned to avoid the habit. Make it just another thing in this world that brings you some happiness, like a particular favourite food.

Asking how often you can use without developing a physical addiction is dangerous territory, because sooner or later you'll slip when you're vulnerable and weak.

I was using codeine every day for almost three years, now I'm down to once a week. Working full-time helps keep the use down to that, and also makes it better; when I'm exhausted at the end of the week, there is nothing better then some morphine or codeine to take all the stress away. :)

It took the addiction though to make me realize the importance of being careful with these substances. Or, more accurately, how dangerous they could be to me.

One of the most eloquent things I've read in a while. J-Wash D.C.

Scroll down and look at the active members in OD ...90% of rec users will tell you they wish they would have quit while there ahead.
Probably 90% of lurkers reading this would tell u the same thing.

I lurked for 2 years in OD before finally becoming social lmao :) all the while progressing up the ladder.

Not to be a debbie downer to the OP but this is harm reduction, knowing what I know now would have greatly reduced my harm :) lol :)

No wonder people get addicted. You gave me absolutely NO HELP TO ANSWER MY question and you actually gave me the WORSE possible advice anyone could give telling me to use spontaneous and unpatterned like wtf?

Your question had already been answered with "No. Of course not. If you continue to use that way, your tolerance will rise, and sooner or later, you will become addicted."

He was offering you advice beyond that on how to control your use to prevent that from happening. From where you are now, that may not seem necessary, but as many above posters either stated or implied, a lot of people here wish that someone would have given them that advice when they were in your position or a similar one, and that they would have heeded it.

I never meant to say the OP would end up with an addiction, but I started out doing the weekend thing with hydrocodone, then moved to oxycodone, morphine, and hydromorphone. It's now basically a daily thing and it is an addiction. All this took a little under five years (all my undergrad college career and then some) I took a few months break in between but once I got back into opiates I couldn't get out.

Thomas29, no hard feelings man, I didn't mean to throw the D.A.R.E. class shock story at you so quickly. I don't think the other posters did either. Just don't think you're invincible because you're not. I come from Irish/Welsh stock with a little Scandinavian in there as well, and I have addiction in my family tree. So maybe my situation is different. I'm sorry if I offended you or freaked you out.

And, to littlebaggies, that's one of the nicest things people have said about what I've said on BL, oatmealcookie's replies are up there as well. Sorry this has gotten long-winded, I just took Dexedrine. :D

Samesy's on getting into it slightly my freshman year of college an thinking I was invincible. Now my senior year of college, I am a full blown addict who's a slave to the pill using daily 40mg oxyMorphone who has to work 40+hrs a week plus school just to afford my habit...at 6'4 275lbs I was invincible, now I feel a little girl could beat me up if I didn't have my fix yet.
Truer words could never be spoken NT :)

But to the OP - sorry this thread got so "the dark sideish" but I think everyone here sees a lil bit of themselves in you.
