Hello all,

I work at a medical marijuana center in Denver, Colorado. I've worked here since Denver Relief was a delivery company.

Now I am the computer and graphics guy here and would like to start participating in the community in a more active way.

I would like to offer my knowledge to bluelight as a resource for people wondering how the mmj movement is going and for those who wish to know more details about what is going on in the industry not just what you see or hear in the news or at conventions.

I feel privileged to have seen this movement from the inside as it has grown in Denver. I've watched all the changes in legislation and regulation take place as the state began to see what was going on and had to intervene in a gold rush. That rush is over and the major players are set until a moratorium is lifted in July 2011.

I've seen what it takes to be successful in this business and though I can't offer anything really specific (I've been sworn to secrecy), I certainly have some tips and general guidelines about what has worked and what hasn't.

Glad to be part of the razor's edge. This is only the beginning.

Cheers!

hmmm, so how much does it seem to take for a legitimate start-up?

$100,000.00? $75,000.00? I can't see it even taking that much..... I am curious how the first year profit margin of biz a that takes off may compare to one which flounders?

thx

Thanks All. I do have a great job.

Denver Relief started with little more than a lb of great medicine and three owners with an ad in the local paper running a delivery service. Our start up was $100 bucks for the ad and a talented grower.

Now licenses to operate a MMC are into the tens of thousands of dollars, not to mention that all growing must be done in a warehouse that meets many specific requirements for safety, electrical (no more rigged systems), plumbing etc. That definitely puts you into the hundreds of thousands now. 2 years ago was a different story.

Not to mention that there is a moratorium on new centers until July of this year.

Some of our competitors started with large amounts of liquid capital into the millions, but I like to think that they don't have the edge we have because they haven't been challenged to stretch every dollar.

This year, our profit is $0, but that is how every new business is, or at least should be in it first few years. Every $ we make goes right back in to making us better. Next year, we'll see.

I am really looking forward to 2011 in Colorado. 2012 could see a big push for full legalization here. I for one am ready.

Haha I love the story of the startup- sounds like its straight outta half-baked! Welcome to bluelight. Rep the 303
