Detoxing with unwelcome help

Hello,

I have been using OXY off and on for the better part of 7 years. I have a script for them, usually do not exceed more than 120-160mg per day.

I decided with my full conviction that this last week of december 2010, I was going to quit, seek some counseling and never touch them again.

I've always used the thomas receipe for detoxing. I have all my vits and clonazapam ready to go.

This is nothing new for me, I've gotten off many times before, but stupidly relasped a few months later.

I got through days 1 and 2 without touching anything. A slept quite a bit which is kind of rare. I dont get withdrawals that leave me useless, I pull through I have will power.

Like most people say its easy to get off, just hard to stay off.

So here's the kicker. After waking up from a nap yesterday, I woke up and felt awesome. No leg aches, no sweats. I thought "Why is it so easy this time?"

Then I realized when I hopped in the bath that my sister who takes fentanyl for a serious car accident she had a few years back, placed a small patch on my back where I couldn't even feel it. It was 1/2 of a 50 mcg/h 72 hr patch.

As soon as I saw it, I immediately ripped it off and freaked at her.

She replied "I didn't want to see you suffer and my Doctor told me its better to use a little bit of fent when you go off the OXY.

Now her statement is bull if you ask me.

I told her she is jeopordizing my attempt here and did not appreciate her doing that. I told her to go home and she did.

Now I dont take fentanyl, except maybe once or twice.

My question is, would wearing 1/2 a patch for 5-10 hrs really set my detox clock back to zero?

Could it have possibly helped like a suboxine or dose of methadone?

Either way I will find out shortly.

Again, I used 120-180mg OXY for a 7 month period. DId none for 48hrs, and then had a dumb fent patch put on me for 5-10hrs/

THanks for your help in advance

^Yeah, won't work like Suboxone for sure. Similar to taking methadone during withdrawal: some degree of re-set. I would let my sister know this means she'll have to watch even MORE withdrawal. What you say she said her doctor said is really meaningless and overly simiplistic outside of the context in which it was originally said.

'Cept WHILE you're gettin' off haha! I tend to say that AFTERward. ;)

Oh my goodness! What I wouldn't give to have someone slip a fentypatch on my back hehe. Haha! WOOO! I'm a 10-15 year junky, never had that particular pleasure but always lusted after it. (Excuse the glamorization -- that was a literary satire written in "junky voice" -- I believe this totally unacceptable and totally support the OP's attempt to get clean. Good 4 u!)

Kiddding aside, I WOULD be pretty upset if someone did that to me without my knowledge! Very unfair, not letting you decide for yourself. Like u said, "she did not want to see..." -- she was protecting her feelings it sounds like, at least as much as yours! I'd have a serious talk with her, but you probly already did that.

I know nothing of the dosages of fentanyl, not having ever indulged, as I said.
On the one hand: Usually if you take full agonist opioids in withdrawal, then yeah, you set the clock WAAAY back. Not necessarily to day one -- but since you did that, er, she did that to you so early on in the withdrawal process, then yeah, I think there's a good chance you'll be starting over back near square one (maybe square two, three, or four -- there are 9 total ;) ).
On the other: it's a short-acting opioid, fentanyl, and you didn't get the full dose of the patch. So you may not have completely re-set the clock.
But I would guess you re-set it a noticeable distance. Withdrawal is weird, though. Sometimes you'll go right back into it, other times it will let you sail through a bit smoother. Sounds like your level of dependence/withdrawal wasn't TOO extreme at the moment (correct me if I'm mistaken).
So: As you say, you'll find out!

Thanks for your inputs folks.

I think having the Fent patch put on me those few hours, worked like a bit of a taper versus cold turkey.

I am sleeing well.

I am currently using the Thomas Recipe with a twist.

Klonopins
Zinc Suppliments
Pottasiun 50mg tabs
Magnium 250mg
B6 TABS
cyclobenzaprine (muscle relaxer)
a herbal produce called RESTFUL LEGS
a good MULTI VIT
Immodium (only if needed)
Naproxen (for pain)
Benadryl - Nightime
l-tyronsine in the morning with a B6
amitpiptyline at night

and a few joints here and there

SO far so good, I have until Tuesday before I go back to work. So I am hoping for the best

Wow that is kinda crazy huh. Someone putting a patch on you and wondering why your not getting sick. I would think just wearing the patch for a few hours would help a little and maybe not set you back to far. It could of been a blessing in disguise. Good luck.

peace.

One time I went like 4 days ct then I took like 12mg of diladud and it didnt really setmeback, just one day. Its not going to completely reset everything. ...
Yeah, it's funny like that. Sometimes it does set me back, sometimes not. There've even been times I was clean a month or two, then got high for a day, went right back into w/drawal! Another time, I was dropdeaddopesick, took a methadone 40mg, got well, and the w/d didn't return (til later when I got re-addicted). Always wondered why it can go either way like that...
