Good Morning.

I am now on day 28 of heroin withdrawal and I'm still sore in my arms and calves.......especially at night.....I still have RLS and having trouble sleeping.

I was using heroin for three years and also using suboxone here and there between heroin scores. I withdrew like 2 years ago & it only lasted like 4-5 days and I was fine, just edgy.........But this time, 28 days and still sore? I'm not quite sure what gives.......I'm trying to decide if I'm also withrdawling from subox on top of the heroin.

Basically, I'm just ready to feel normal again and to sleep. I've read a lot about PAWS and understand it can last a long time.......I can deal with the mental boredom etc; but I'm just ready to stop hurting.

Does anyone have advice? I have been taking Hylands Restful legs and Xanax each night to be able to sleep. I also understand my potassium was probably zapped by the Heroin.......and i've been eating bananas, drinking OJ, and taking a vitamin with potassium in it.

Could it be that I'm just not able to bring my potassium levels back up?

Any help would be appreciated. I'm just frustrated at this point.

28 days is a long time. But everybody's differant to who knows how long it will take.
Have you tryed working out a bit? I'm sure it will help loads. It always did for my atleast.

It will get better thats for sure.
Keep up the good work!!

I haven't been able to exercise.....time-wise.....weather-wise, etc.

Basically, I'm close to normal during the day when I'm either working or focusing on something......But when i get home, I start getting sore again and still having RLS at night.......waking up sore.......then as soon as I get to work and focus on something, i'm cool again.

in the world of heroin withdrawl 28 days is nothing.

to the OP:

its completely normal, it would help to excercise. seeing as how you were a user for three years don't be surprised if you dont feel "normal" after the 60 day mark.

for the RLS there really isnt much you can do. exercise enough to where your body can literally no longer operate and it has no option but to shut down.

edit: also you may want to try taking a long hot bath right before bed, see how that works.

Thats right. But not feeling good for 28 days is a long time. Thats what i was saying.

i understand, and still imo its a long time but not abnormal at all. the first time i kicked cold turkey (from a $150 a day heroin habit) i went clear into the second month feeling like shit, headaches, moody as fuck, fucked up stomach and i was coming off a 2+ year habit

but i understand what you are saying. just didnt want the OP to think something was extremely wrong if he was still feeling a bit ill after 28 days.

Vitamins, working out, changing life cycle....

Worked for me after 10 years of H, of course i had to relocate, but it's very doable.
Good luck man

The RLS lasted over a month for me after withdrawal from opiates.....it can get kinda annoying when you are trying to sleep.

28 days later, excellent film.

I think every cluck is different. I have had horrible 2 week methadone clucks and quick 4 day gear clucks. I have had holidays where I have been so vallied up in the sun that I have got off gear without noticing and I have had in house detoxes on clonidine where time feels like it goes so slowly that one day seems like a week. No clucking symptoms at all but one of the worst experiences ever. I have also had a naltroxone detox (pills and implant) where the implant was fine but the pills made my legs shake for four weeks later. I don't really think I have had 2 the same and if you are suffering from too much energy in your body take up a sport like Taekwondo or Karate which is what I did last time as it will make you feel damn good about yourself, get you fit and use up a lot of that unspent adrenaline pumping round your legs.
The shaky legs and all the nervous clucking symptoms you get when withdrawing are due to your body producing too much adrenaline because it had stopped making it when you were on gear. Britlofex and Clonidine are drugs that suppress this excess adrenaline by reducing your blood pressure. Hot baths are also good as well as leg massages for your calf muscles.

OP, what is your dosage and the frequency of taking the xanax? If you are only taking it at night, being that it is a short-acting benzo you can be experiencing some withdrawal from that as well. Be careful not to get dependent of the benzos as well.

you should really do some physical activity. lift some weights, jog, or play a few hours of your favorite sport.

well; i'm back......on day 48 or 49 approximately......still sore, still RLS........does anyone really think it could be xanax.......i'm only taking 1 peach a night to sleep over the RLS.......I'm just ready for this to end........i find that if i'm busy or focused, even on the stupidest stuff, i'm fine and forget my symptoms. but as soon as I get home from work; it sets in again........like i wake sore and get sore a night mostly......i'm sooo sick of this and ready for it to just end........apart from that; my mind is racing......fleeting thoughts.......i'd rather sit around and do stupid sht all day than go to work or do classwork.......and on top of that; i've been getting into arguments.....like manic arguments with people......it's all kind of nuts.......i was more regular/normal on heroin.........now i feel absolutely insane......can anyone address these issues i'm having?

good call. i see what you are saying. i just never knew herion withdrawl lasted this long.......i've read that subox can last this long......but i guess i was uniformed. I feel like making a conscious decision to use again; just to be normal and not go through these insane manic/anxious episodes. it's almost like now that i'm sober and withdrawling; i've become BDP.....boderline......and we aint talking no madonna type sht.

thanks for responding.

its not the xanax, it is your brain kicking your ass because of the abscence of bliss. its normal, trust me, as i said in an earlier post i went clear into the 60 day mark feeling like shit. you just have to grit your teeth and go thru it.

i know its difficult man but there seriously isnt much you can do. just keep being a hardass and keep saying no. if people are having a problem with you being moody and shit then that is their problem, not yours. you have to remember that you are trying to improve YOUR value of life, not anyone else. this is for YOU. fuck what another say. for me, at the 50-60 day mark i acctually took pleasure in the chills and when i got aggressive and angry, to me it was a sign that i was "back to life" i wasnt a fucking junked out zombie oblivious to the world.

hang in there dude.

How much potassium a day are you taking? I used to take a lot of potassium when I was lifting in various other forms, it can cause your muscles to cramp up and contract which could help explain the RLS at this point. If that is in fact it then I know that drinking some salt water or something of the sort helped me bring my sodium levels up to help alter that feeling.

Either way tho, I really don't think you should be having these feelings at this point from heroin, yes it's a horrible drug, I detoxed off it in prison after a lengthy street habit was cut short by some friendly police officers. The first week was hell, the second not so bad, the third I was eating and sleeping normal, you're on your second month now and it's still bothering you?

Just seems odd to me, best of luck to ya either way

considering his dosage and length of use i dont find it odd at all that he feels like this.
