Hellooooo There!!
Hi Everyone
I hope everyone’s doing well.
I’m heading back home in a few days and feel damn good about it. I’ve figured out what I want to do with my life and all; I’m going to find a place in the country and start up a classic car restoration/motorcycle/small engines shop. I figured it’s stuff that’s innate in me and I’ve always wanted to do this but I’ve always found official, secure and subordinate jobs got in my way. If done well I can make this into something good. I’ll also be doing odd jobs on the side because I’m sure at first I’m going to need to supplement it before business picks up.
It seems I got what I needed out of traveling for the time being, and I would feel kind of sad for not going to my sister’s for Christmas so I’m heading up in the next few days.
Oh, and I seriously miss winter. It feels like something’s missing, like the balance of the seasons is off-kilter and my body clock needs the 4 seasons cycle.
It feels good to have direction again. Once new years come I’m going to find an old truck and trailer, find a place with a garage for me and my friend to rent and then get it started.
To be honest the break from BL has been good; I was spending too much time on here and when that happens I tend to get caught up and sedentary and put less energy into other life pursuits. I love all you guys, and I’ll come around but I think that spell of having to log on every time I open my computer (and spend many hours here) to be broken.
Oh and thanks to Delsyd and Roger for getting me into the awesome American craft beer thing. I’ve been indulging for the last while (starts to be an expensive hobby). My knowledge of all the different kind of beer has gone up quite a bit. I wish we had more craft breweries at home. We have some but it’s not quite the same scene here with it all on the shelf. At home in Ontario the official name of the store chain where you buy beer is “The Beer Store” and they have all the beer bottles of kinds they carry on the wall and you tell them what you want and then it gets wheeled down a converyor-type thing from in the back. Most of the beers available are from big corporations and there’s not much in the way of craft brewers except for a couple of the big types like the size of Dogfish head or Stone. I’m going to miss all this variety. (and the price)
Our government imposes a “minimum legal price” to ensure they get a high return on the percentage of tax they charge. Damn mediocre socialized health care. A 24 case at home of the cheapest stuff comes just shy of $30, and what really grinds my gears is that Canadian beer down here… Well.. If you travel 1500 miles south of where Canadian beer is made you can get it for half the price or less! Grrr….
That, among other reasons is why I’m going to start home brewing
Oh, and no, there is nowhere to buy Export A gold smokes down here but thanks to Delsyd I found the American equivalent; Marlboro blend 27. It’s a bit stronger than Export gold but it’s a good tasting smooth smoke, bringing home a carton for sure.
