Cured: A Cannabinoid Story

a cure for cancer and all the other ailments listed above seems pretty far fetched, however i also havent watched the movie in the link yet. Maybe itll enlighten me when i do get a chance to.

But i will say that having a treatment for cancer that gets you high would be way better than having the treatments for cancer that make you sick. Somehow sadly i think there would still be people who given the choice, would take the sickness route because "drugs are bad".

Did you have a question?

Studies on other animals aren't good indicators as to what a substance does to humans.

If you did a study on the effects of datura on dogs, you'd have no idea that it caused psychosis. This obviously isn't the case with humans. Humans often react differently to substances then animals do. Some things that are poisonous for some animals are healthy for others. Chocolate is another thing that comes to mind.

I think cannabis can probably decrease tumor size, but saying it's a cure for cancer is going pretty far. There is no cure for cancer, only treatments.

Do you guys remember that trial they did in the last couple of years where they gave a bunch of human volunteers a drug and they ended up looking like the elephant man? I think that's a good illustration of the limitations of preclinical data taken from experiments on animals.

Cannabis does have a place in medicine, but let's not jump the gun and get ahead of ourselves. Its an invaluable drug, but is certainly no panacea.

Yet drug testing on animals is our primary screening source.

We are far past the test on-animals-only phase when it comes to cannabis. Don't you think it's time we start testing more on humans? The legal system is preventing us from further testing.

I for one, have no health insurance and easy access to hash oil. Let's say I got skin cancer similar to what David Triplett had. Do you think I am going to immediately opt for the uninsured chemo therapy and/or surgery process before trying a completely harmless and affordable method?

^ A.E Oh for sure cause we never test drugs on mice to find the possible effects on humans. All those trials are false eh?

Great post OP, it doesn't have to be the cure-all cancer the fact is it has potential to help various ailments.. With it being illegal its hard to have freedom of testing the substance and applying it.

^ of course we do. I never said we don't. Animal studies are just as essential as human ones.

However, at some point along the process, human trials are needed before a drug gets to market and is decided to be safe enough for mainstream use in cancer treatment etc.

Animal studies alone however have severe limitations. If drugs were let on the maker on the basis of animal testing alone medicine would be a century behind the stage it's at today.

Perhaps you haven't read what I've said carefully.

I haven't watched vid but 1st I thought, what about bob Marley?? He def was a human canabanoid specimen. However I think there's more to it then big fat sensi spliffs... Seems intresting drug companies were trying to supress research on it! Y do they not conduct studies in Amsterdam?

I wish more people knew about the medicinal qualities of pot. I've suffered from IBS for the past eleven years, with constant stomach cramps and painful diarrhea up to 5-10 times a day. Since I've begun smoking weed regularily, my diarrhea has been reduced to twice or less a week. When the cramping begins, a small bowl or pinner will greatly reduce the pain in as little as five minutes.

Here is a study done on humans (in some ways) and mice.

"these results provide a strong preclinical evidence for the use of cannabinoid-based therapies for the management of ErbB2-positive breast cancer."
Nice source! I enjoyed reading that.

I found a really good read that has to do with humans (in some ways as well) and mice.

The referenced articles at the bottom of the page have recent and interesting reads as well on breast cancer, leukemia, ect...
