Valium / Diazepam - Onset of Withdrawal rate

I started taking diaz about a month ago.

since then i have taken around 300mg, but not in a daily basis. It's just been 10mg the odd day, then maybe 50mg, on another. Usually taking 2,3 or 4 days gaps between dosing.

Though it might be time to give it a break to avoid any tolerance/withdrawal. Haven't had any since last Sunday (when I had around 40mg over the day)

On the 4th day after stopping, which was yesterday, I was suprised to notice wat i can only presume is withdrawal anxiety. Its pretty mild, started yesterday afternoon, had a little struggle sleeping. But then I felt fine this morning. It started again this afternoon and is present now. This is only very mild anxiety, and feels as though it will pass with a couple of days.

My first q is, is this normal? For withdrawal anxiety, even if only mild, to kick in after such little time/quantity. Please note, I have never suffered anxiety before, I only started taking diaz for recreation/comedown management. So its not a return of pre-existing anxiety)

Secondly, I'm planning on taking stims tonight, and was going to dose say 10mg-20mg for the comedown. (Comedowns are the only time I ever normally exp anxiety. I can't usually get through one without freaking out) Will it be ok to do this? If it means that I'll get this couple day's worth of anxiety again next week, that's fine. But I don't want to be causing further troubles.

As far as I was aware, benzo withdrawal symptoms shouldn't kick in off so little in such a time-period.

So as for your second question, yeah I think it would be fine to do that. Maybe take another break after tonight and see if the anxiety returns next week.

Chances are you only suffered mild withdrawals is because you had only been taking the Diazepam for a month and on 2-4 gap breaks. The reason you didn't feel anything for 3-4 days is because Diazepam stays in your system for a long time. Because of this Diazepam is often given for withdrawals from benzodiazepines.

You won't suffer any withdrawals if you just take it one more day for the comedown of stimulants. 10-20mg Diazepam should be fine.

Just out of interest, what is a safe field way to use this benzo recreationally and for functional purposes without dicing with the dangers of withdrawal effects?

The OP stated he only used 300mg sporadically over a month and has noticed withdrawal? Is this really common? And if so what IS a safe limitation to place on use?

It is different for everybody. Not everyone is going to be able to tell you a certain amount that can be used in x period of time to avoid withdrawals. Although keeping use to no more than once a week may prevent dependence.

Is there a difference though in say taking 30mg on a specific day in a week, compared to taking 10mg on 3 different days of the week?

And I know you can't tell the exact amounts for different people. I was just looking for the general idea. As the OP said, he felt anxiety after stopping sporadic use of what surely wasn't a high dosing regime. Could this anxiety really have been caused by the valium?

I'd say the chances of dependence would be worse taking 10mg 3 times a week versus 30mg one day out of the week because your starting a routine by taking the smaller doses spread out.

Hard to tell if it was either pre-existing anxiety of anxiety caused from diazepam withdrawals. I guess the only way to know would be to compare the anxiety before and after taking the Valium. That's sort of hard to do but if it is similar than I guess it could just be pre-existing.
