Hi everyone, I am a newbie to the forum and one of the Moderators said my question would be best answered here so here it goes. I got some pills for my sinus problem from the pharmacy and noticed that one of the ingredients is a stimulant (Phenylpropanolamine hydrochloride a.k.a norephedrine Hcl),the pills are called Sinuclear and contain 18 mg Phenylpropanolamine hydrochloride and 325 mg Paracetamol. The other day me and my friends had a LAN at my house so I drank 4 pills to see what effect it would have. It was awesome, my concentration was super and I had energy to LAN for 11 hours straight. With our next LAN I want to do it again but without the Paracetamol as I read it damages your liver. I also read that norephedrine Hcl is soluble in water and Paracetamol is not, can I do I simple cold water extraction to get rid of the Paracetamol?

This is probably unnecessary unless you're consuming over 4 grams of paracetamol per day, which would be over a dozen of those tablets. You should be more concerned about the phenylpropanolamine - it's been linked to increased risk of stroke, and so is not on the market in the US anymore...

Yeah, a CWE would do it, but you're nowhere near where you'd have reason to be concerned.

4 of those is 1300mg, ~= 2 and a half normal tylenol pills. Hardly a dangerous amount.

I'd be more concerned about the PPA too - it's a pretty dirty stimulant (unfavorable ratio of peripheral to central effects), and has been linked to stroke - though to keep in in context, note that in the US, it was approved as a diet pill - and as i recall, the dosage per pill was fairly high (30? 37.5? something like that i think). Generally speaking, the people who take diet pills, are, well, fat - and hence their cardiovascular systems are not in good shape, and they're thus more likely to have dangerous reactions to stimulants.

Thank you for the advice, when I researched PPA I read that it was taken off the market in the US but that's all I read and thought maybe it's because people abused it and used it for recreation and thus it's a good stimulant but it seems it's actually the opposite. I think I might be better off to leave it and try to get something else. I guess the people in charge of medicine in SA are a bit behind that's why we still get it here in OTC pills.

I imagine it's potential as an amphetamine precursor played a role in it's US ban as well. To be honest I sorta assumed that was the OP's true motivation to separate it from APAP.

If I had the equipment and the chemical know how I would probably make my own amphetamine, but I don't, that's why I wanted to get rid of the APAP so that I can use the pure PPA as a stimulant, but if there's a good chance it'll give me a stroke I'd rather not. I have never experienced a proper stimulant and want to try one but the only thing I seem to get on the street here is marijuana, which is not bad considering that I only pay about 8 US$ for a bankie of good weed but I still want to try a proper stimulant.
