Lets say you are dependent on opiates for chronic pain, rarely use so much that you nod, but do suffer from fatigue. If you can relate, what have you used to give you some extra energy?

Have you found provigil to be effective for fatigue? What about amphetamines, including legal prescribed ones?

Do you have any natural formulas, like a mixture of caffeine with other related xanthines, herbs or supplements?

Any RCs fairly benign as a low dose habit?....of course the vedict isnt out on these, but PERCEIVED relative safety?

ummmm If I just drink a cup of coffee it helps me out immensely, I'm usually pretty cautious about mixing chemical in my body though, unless it's just weed and beer. mostly on Opiates though it's coffee time something about it just goes together,. but then again I seem to enjoy opiates for energy anyway once the sedation sets in, I either go to bed or drink coffee.

I usually dont nod. I dont enjoy nodding and I really just use it for pain relief.

I have fatigue that is the result of the effects of inflammation that affected my nervous system, but opiates make it worse. I was prescribed provigil, which doesnt always work that well. Caffeine sort of helps, but not greatly. Its easy to get immune to caffeine.

It's also easy to raise caffeine dosage as well...;)

I have thought about asking for a weak short acting amphetamine, but Im not sure its a good idea.

Guarana must have more than caffeine....actually I know it has a different concentration of other xanthines at least....but it seems to work a little better than coffee.

Coffee has a limit. Once the adrenals are empty thats it. Caffeine works by causing the adrenals to contract.....an amphetamine on the other hand mimics adrenal hormones, so there is no upper limit (which can in fact be dangerous).

I also notice that coffee, besides hurting my stomach, can actually make me sleepy if I dont eat.

Any herbal supplement that I have found help in the past is called L-Tyrosine. It surprisingly gives you a nice energy boost.

I doubt anybody would prescribe you amphetamines for "opiate fatigue". Its reserved for narcolepsy, not fatigue. I don't think you'd need to go that far anyway.

I have underlying health conditions compounded by opiate use. I have MS and Crohns.

B-Vitamins are definitely a good one to remember.....Caffeine depletes B-vitamins, which is why the energy drinks with B-vitamins seem to work better....essential for fat metabolism too.

I just remembered chromium...keeping blood sugar level can help with energy, especially when you kill your apatite with caffeine.

L-Tyrosine isn't a vitamin, but it does work.

Stimulants can cause more chronic pain, amphetamines do something, forgot what it was, and most stims strain your body.

A tiny amount of PV is what I use if I have to work a long shift & need a boost. It is relatively safe as long as you keep dosages low.

I wouldnt want to make a habit out of this, and I would want to research safety, but it sounds like a fairly clean and cheap stimulant that is active in small doses....not crazy euphoric, but probably better for getting stuff done rather than stroking the furry walls. It almost sounds like it could be a prescription drug for fatigue.

I definitely want to explore natural alternatives to. Fewer dependencies is better.
