new Anti terrorism law allows police to Enter house without a warrant.

I admire your passion TripppAR, your rants are a good read. I'm sure many people on here agree with the principles but are less enthusiastic about it. Also most of us don't know what to do about it other than continue our passive protests by using drugs ;)

Excellent point... I was once asked by my cousin what all my knowledge has achieved and I was dumbstruck because I didn't have an answer... call me somewhat of a defeatist but I have almost resigned myself to that of a spectator slowly watching our freedoms deteriorate.

Most states already allow the police the right to enter a house without a warrant. In Queensland, police can search your house on "reasonable grounds" and then seek a warrant after the fact. They can do this if they believe that evidence might be destroyed, or if there are guns or drugs on the premises.

We have already lost significant freedoms due to drug laws a long time ago.

For the people in Queensland check out this guide to police powers and shudder in horror at the many different ways police can search you without a warrant or your consent: Police Powers: Your Rights (pdf)

I always speak about these issues with friends, drug reform, freedoms being taken away, privacy, removing state governments, why toy BB guns are considered 'guns' under law even thou they shoot plastic balls etc.. but half dont care, but I keep on preeching, you just gotta keep on trying.

Its just hard when you talk to people about how were losing our freedom like CCTV cameras everywhere, but they say "well if your not doing anything wrong, why care?" Its only when you say "Ok well can I put one in your house?" that they are all up in arms...

I am sick of governement involved in everyday life.. even telling us we cant smoke at bus stops or in our cars... its a fucking legal substance... second hand smoke causing cancer is NOT PROVEN, look it up and read about it, but its widely believed....

we need a revolution in this country. How about giving us a CHOICE in laws the government pass like USA, no referendums ever!

Ok I better stop now I get way to worked up on these issues... all I can say is discuss these with your friends, get debate going... I just wish the media would debate some of these issues!

This thread is not here for you to discuss fluoride in drinking water or second hand smoke. I have unapproved several posts and will also remove busty's very informative post later this evening.

Keep it on topic my friends :)

This isn't the united states. Police have always been able to search you and enter your dwelling for bullshit reasons.

When i'm walking home late at night, and a cop pulls up and says "There have been some burglaries in the area, would you mind if we searched your bag?"
I know they have absolutely no reason or right to search me, and i'm sure there's always burglaries in any area, or maybe there aren't, but the point is, Australian cops have always been able to search dwellings and people with bullshit excuses.

They've just come up with a new bullshit reason, not that they needed it.

Police like to ask questions in the tone of a statement.
Like instead of "Do you mind if I search you for drugs and weapons? As you have been going in and out of that carpark and you have a armband for the rave around the corner."

they say it like "We've seen you go in and out of that carpark mate all night and your at that rave, We want to search you OK" that OK never sounds like a question, they m ake iot a statement so you think you have to do what they say. Ofcourse if you try to outsmart them they'll probably just say we smell pot anyway. And search you.

as fortehlulz had said if you are in the situation of about to be searched when they have no grounds to stand on, take out your phone start recording and then have the conversation. It may seem sus, but it's not enough for them be able to do something about it and they're not gonna risk their careers on someone over a small amount of drugs if the conversation is recorded. If they said they smelled cannabis but you have something entirely different on you then you could get it dismissed provided it's all recorded.

But thats gone now with the search people for "weapons" law that has been passed. Entering a house without a warrant bothers me just as much though, my home is my private place and I should have the RIGHT to choose who can and can't enter. Warrants were a way that we kept that right, it's the exact reason warrants were made in the first place to ensure that we still have our privacy and that our home is OUR home.

Police will seize the phone for drug activity if they say they have grounds to search you for drug use and delete the sample.
I think all cops should have hidden cameras with microphones in their hats..

But only when theyre breaking the law.. not us :P

POLICE WIN

YOU LOSE

PERIOD

SO GET THE FUCK USED TO IT OR CHANGE SOMETHING

NO ONES GONNA TAKE ME ALIVE

Aren't the passing of laws like this exactly what terrorists wanted? Is our government so self interested that can't see this obvious flaw in their plan?

Terrorists supposedly are anti-Western culture, and there's plenty to dislike quite frankly. Instead of improving the flawed which it is their job to do, they take what is good about it: the freedom to privacy and personal rights and then abolish it in the name of anti-terror. The break down of those laws, is the destruction of what is good in our culture and breaking that culture apart is exactly what the intention of terrorism is.

So very true :) Thats how it works, the laws were passed due to terrorism.. we lost out %) And thats how our government works here also !
