Opioids Can I preload rigs with dilaudid and "save them for later?"

I have a friend coming to spend the weekend at my place and obviously I won't be able to take the time to sit there and prepare shots in front of him!

If I prep the dilaudid (crushed pills) now and put the rigs in the fridge, will they be safe to shoot 48 hours later?

Thanks...

There is a potential that bacteria will grow in the shots no matter how clean your gear and set up process is, that is unless you use bacteriostatic water containing .9%benzyl alcohol.

Even in a fridge, i wouldn't risk it. Unless you wanna explain why you suddenly have a horrible case of cotton fever/an infection/abscess to this person. Just sniff or prepare them on the DL in the bathroom. Maybe having him over will force you to cut down a bit?

Either way, without the bacteriostatic water no. I wouldn't risk it.

Really, you are going to be fine for 2-3 days, because the (basically)-vacuum sealed container will be fine. but if it is for any longer than that you should use some manner of cleansing liquid described above. I have saved syringes for up to 4 days and they have been fine and i shared needles since then. Go for it, dude!

As if the crushed pills that have already been exposed to the air, bacteria and and other contaminants whilst he was crushing them is going to be any less hygenic then if he prepd it.

You might not understand that powder sitting in air is a very different concept than something sitting in water. Very different.

If he uses Distilled water and does everything clean and properly, is there less of a risk? Yes - but to say there is no risk is bad advice. Don't forget this website is here for harm reduction based information.

Edited my wording slightly to not come off as arrogant or whatever, apologies if i originally did.

I wasnt putting down your advice I was more expressing my view in regards to the Op who seems to be concerned with a 48 hour wait in the fridge, when handling I reckon crushing and exposing the pills is just as bad in my opinion.

If he really wanted to be safe he should just keep them in its original packaging right up until the last minute before he uses them.

Of course that would be the safest way to do it, however using a solution of .9%benzyl alcohol in water is just as safe. Regardless, its a silly thing to argue over. OP, just make sure your safe and do everything as clean as possible, again, if possible use distilled water rather than tap - and you should be fine. I only emphasize this because i have done this before without using bacteriostatic water and i got instant horrible "cotton fever" and an abscess.

I have done this but did not put them in the rig. I had a sealed sterile sodium water vial used to dilute many IV medications. I prepped the liquid, sterilized the vial again with Iodine, put the prepared liquid in and then capped it and microwaved it to make it sterile. Make sure to leave a needle in the top of the vial to let the any steam vent.

You will not have to refrigerate it and if you are worried, microwave it again before using. Then just insert you rig, draw up the amount needed and your good.

I hate preparing my stuff every time I use so I do this often without ever having a problem.

Well I've been in the habit of prepping a shot in advance every day to take to work, since the logistics of prepping in the bathroom at work for my afternoon "maintenance shot" just don't work.

So, for the last few months, I prepare a shot the night before, put the rig in the fridge then take it to work the next day in my briefcase. It's about a 12 hour lead time and so far there has been no issue. I was wondering if 24 to 48 hours would make a big difference.

Maybe I'll prepare a few shots for the next 24 hours and then do some prep at night for the next day.

I assume the less time that passes between prep and shoot, the better?

Short and simple, yes it is possible..... I would'nt see a problem.... I use to pre-make coke syringes so when I was driving it would be easier to inject (however coke goes fast, if I made 5 that would last around 4 hrs) I mean really???? why go through the process of sterlizing? the drug is going to go faster then the time for storage.... and diladid from what I remember was a 10 minute heroin tease, when I got a script for 35 6mg pills they where gone in 2 days (an injection every 30 minutes kept me good till I was out) but then again drugs effect us all in different ways) I had a heavy heroin habbit at the time..... Now I do no drugs (personal choice) But do what ya want its your life with the needle not mine lol

oh added note: sometimes when you prep them make sure to shake them prior to use nothing worst then what John_Burrows is metioning for the "Maintenance Shoot" at lunch time getting clogged... I would make them short on water (with heroin) and then draw up a little more water and shake well when ready to inject so it would reduce the chance of clogging after the drug was settled in the syringe

I've prepped a shot of roxicet with regular tap water, and just put it in my dresser drawer for about 15-20 hours and used it with no problem. There was a little settling of the solution, but I just pulled some air in and let the bubble run from one end of the rig to the next a few times to mix it back up.... it never even crossed my mind that bacteria might grow, huh... to think i coulda gotten an abcess or something... *shudders*

You need to take the time to prep. If you save shots for later bacteria will grow and you run the risk of infection.

From my understanding, if you filter well you really shouldn't have enough particulate matter to be clogging your rigs. Drugs like heroin and hydromorphone are readily soluble in water so whatever is 'settling' in your shots isn't shit you want to be shooting. I'd HIGHLY suggest investing in some micron filters or at very least improve your home filtering technique such as with syringes back-loaded with cotton to run your solution through.

On top of the problems you already mentioned, probably not a great idea shooting preparations with acetaminophen....

Yeah I agree if you've properly filtered there should NOT be enough particles in the syrimge to clog it. I think it's in anyones best interest to have very clear shots... Sometimes I'll let one a bit foggy pass, but not if I can actually see any particles. If that happens you should really shoot the mixture into a clean spoon and refilter/redraw. Yes, it's a pain, but a clear shot is a guilt-free shot :-)

Remember, those particles are going to get clogged up in your heart, best to take the time to keep them to a minimum. If you have to shake the syringe like a snow globe to keep it from getting clogged then you do NOT have a properly filtered shot.

Anyway, I take a lot of care to properly prepare shots, so I felt the risk of bacteria growing in a "pre-made" shot was low enough to risk it.

I ended up compromising and making an extra batch at night in my bedroom, so I used my pre-mades within 24 hours, not 48. I felt reasonably safe with that.

I know we're all better safe than sorry, but really, can anyone tell me that a well-prepared (i.e. clean) shot of dilaudid that has sat in a fridge for 24 hours actually poses a risk worth worrying about?

I know the chances of bacteria leading to infection or cotton fever aren't zero, but I think all of us are sometimes in positions where we have to deal with risk - its just a matter of educating ourselves to minimize the risk to the point where it's minimal.

Personally I can't and even if no one posts information that does, is absence of evidence actually evidence of absence?

I think you're PROBABLY right essentially, just wanted to point out that the logic of assuming you are because no one shows you are not is not sound.

Furthermore 'risk worth worrying about' is rather subjective and absent other criteria, unquantifiable.

Inactives can dissolve into a solution clear, especially talc.

I wouldn't keep a solution made from pills, that hasn't been micron filtered, sitting around for 24 hours.

I have absolutely ZERO experience shooting pills so I only know what I've read...

The whole discussion of acceptable risk and relative harm is just wildly speculative. We don't have clear documentation and formal studies showing that dilaudid that is cotton-filtered well and refrigerated is THIS harmful compared to micron-filtered dilaudid that has sat out THIS long and so forth.

The ONLY advice that can be given is to be as careful as possible and take as many precautions as possible. Of course you're going to get idiots saying "I intramuscularly shot unfiltered dilaudid pills that sat out for 6 days each every day for 16 years and I'm fine" but that doesn't mean these practices are safe especially when, as C.H mentioned, a lot of the worst problems associated with these practices are cumulative and may take time to fully present their damage.
