Trying to understand CBD....

OK.

So I am a bit confused on this. From my understanding thus far, CBD is a active ingredient in certain types of marijuana. It is non-pyscho active, meaning it doesn't get you high? Indica's are more CBD, while Sativa's are more THC. From my experience, Sativas are more clear headed, daytime high strain where you can still get things done, while Indicas seem to knock me on my ass night time high before going to sleep and where I am pretty stoney-balogny. But if CBD doesn't get you "high" how is it like a Indica? Usually Indicas get me really high. I guess you want you use CBD though because it is good for stopping cancers and if you use weed over long periods of time, CBD is good for not developing psychotic disorders later.

So I got some CBD weed and hash. The place I went to was recommending that you pack a bowl that is half CBD and half regular weed. Does this mean the weed I have, that is CBD, will not get me high? If you look at it though, it looks pretty frosty still. From my understanding it is good for your body though and you need it even though it doesn't get you high.

So is CBD, in general, like what O'douls non-alcoholic beer is but with weed? I definitely want to still get high, but still reap the benefits of goodness of weed, so should I be using CBD more often? Am I on the right track here or am I way off? Or does CBD get you high too?

its not psychoative alone, but it modifies the action of thc
if you consumed CBD it wouldn't get you high,

on the wikipedia page it states that it has shown to be a sedative in animals
and something about it showing to increase alertness,
ive heard it has antipsychoatic effects aswell

but i don't know enough about this shit to give you a proper answer
so i will link you here:P
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cannabidiol
read it:P

cbd is psychoactive, but not a euphoriant. its just a mild sedative. it came out on the news once that a dog was "stoned" after eating marijuana he found at a park. the thing is thc is only affective when heated, so basically the cbd "stoned" the dog:)

i just recently read a short article about cbd, im not sure how accurate it is though.

It was talking about a lab in oakland that tested weed for cannabinoid content and how cbd was turning out to be the most medically useful thing. Anyway it claimed that they had tested 12000 strains and that only 12 had significant quantities of cbd in them. It said that this was because cbd somehow counteracts THC and so breeders had been selectively growing to phase out all the cbd,

CBD can get you high if you smoke it it just doesn't have the psychoactive effect that THC has, I buy a strain called abatiol which is 0.45% THC and 15.58 % CBD it lowers my blood pressure and helps regulate my heart rate and helps panic attacks, people that say that CBD does not make you high please know that you're wrong, when CBD is smoked In bud form it can get you lit but won't make your eyes quite red like THC but it can make you couch locked, CBD gives you more of a body high rather than a head high and a real calming effect.

I think the problem is that the research has yet to be done to fully work out what all the constituents actually do and it may never be done owing to some fairly hefty ethical issues and the absence of any potential profit for big pharma who are the only people capable of doing it.
What we are left with is anecdote, guesswork and received wisdom. It is hard to accept but the reality is that we know extremely little about how our favorite herb actually works and the things we do know we have largely learnt through trial and error and our understanding of WHAT we have learnt is open to misinterpretation. For example cannabis contains dozens of chemicals whose natures are, at best, uncertain and because they are often present in trace quantities they have received little attention beyond a bit of speculation but then again just because there isn't much of something doesn't mean that it cant be very strong or play an important part in the process.
As far as I can see we are still at the 'alchemy' level of understanding, in time it might evolve into science but for now we are all stirring our bubbling cauldrons.
For what it is worth, my latest bit of 'trial and error' is being perplexed at the effects of edibles made with the leftovers after vaping: there was very little, if any, euphoria but it was relaxing and anxiolytic and 'nice' in a vaguely non-descript way. What was particularly odd though was that it was very 'sexual', I have always found cannabis tends to increase my libido but also that skunk tends not to as much as I think it should but here in the leftovers was all the increased libido I don't get whilst vaping. I have no real idea what to make of it but it doesn't seem too far-fetched to suspect that most, if not all, the THC had been vaped away leaving everything else and that the effects, such as they were, must be attributable to them. Maybe it is CBD doing it and maybe it isn't, I may never know. The other slightly odd aspect was the reduction in the urge to dose up with THC, you would imagine that a non-euphoric edible when you were hoping for a very euphoric edible would have me reaching for the weed to top up on the proper stuff but it didn't, I was actually quite content with the effects i already had. I am nearly ready for a second batch and am looking forward to a bit more alchemy.

Greyhounder follow my link to GW pharmaceuticals and you will see how much is actually being done... Cannabinoids for schizophrenia, type 2 diabetes, etc.
