Sorry if this is not in the right discussion forum but I just had a dream or nightmare where someone was chasing me, caught me, and started beating me down and it seemed I felt every bit of it because when I woke up my jaw was somewhat sore and I had some body aches. I woke up, fell back to sleep but this time I was in a car chase being chased by 2 cars. They got on each side of me and the one on the right pulled out a gun and shot me in the head and I felt my head just fall without my control and I felt something in my brain I guess brain zap? I dont know but before I opened my eyes I thought my brains were splattered everywhere and I didnt want to open them until I realized I was crazy and that I didnt go out the night before. And these kind of dreams have been happening constantly ever since I stopped everything. Any input on this? All I do is smoke weed, drink alcohol, and do E.I havent smoked weed in 3 months, havent drank alcohol in over a week, and I havent done E in over 4 months now.

Ive had dreams that seemed very real. Onre i get alot is what we call the old hag here. Your paralysed, it seems like your wide awake and it seems like theres someone else in the room just out of view. Granted some people do see something during these dreams. It's scary as shit and it terrifying.

If it get's bad enough where you start to become afraid to fall asleep, go back to sleep or you get insomnia id suggest seing a doctor about it.

Ive had those kinds of dreams before also. My computer desk is infront of my bed so one night I thought someone was sitting on my office chair with their legs crossed going back and fourth as if they were watching me sleep and I didnt want to move or I guess I couldnt move at the time. So like 2 or 3 minutes later of thinking who the hell can that be and finally I got the courage to put in my mind that im gonna turn on the light and whoever it is im going to beat their ass lol. So I went 1 , 2...,3! Flew off my bed and went for the light switch and no one was there.. weird lol.

You are talking about Sleep Paralysis (here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sleep_paralysis) and it is indeed very scary. Sometimes I do feel like there is a weird presence in the room and I can't move. It happens mostly when you are sleeping on your back and coming down from psychotropic drugs like Ecstasy.

To the OP, I think weird dreams like that happen during a stressful time. Were you stressed. And you weren't taking anythin at all? Dreams are weird sometimes but even the bad ones amaze me. They are harmless though unless what you experienced is an actual sign of something going wrong with your brain chemistry.

I MEANT TO QUOTE PARANOID ANDROID.

Well I guess I have some symptoms of stress because I've been unemployed for the past 3 months and I have been in denial that its taken a toll on me. I started sleeping less and less as time went on and I always said to myself that its just me coming off the drugs but its been months like I said before since Ive done anything major. Also, my hair got very thin too to the point where you can see my scalp and I dont even style it anymore I just cut all one size now. I recently got hired though at this job Ive been trying to get to hopefully this will heal up as I work more and more.

Oh and no I wasnt taking anything. Mainly because I dont want to get depended on anything to make me sleep. I took some xanax last Tuesday, the whole bar so I could get some good sleep before my interview on Wednesday morning because I've been sleeping at 5-6am or later now a days.

They are both talking about sleep paralysis actually :)
I suffer from sleep paralysis very frequently. It goes in phases, but on average I get it about once a month, and more or less frequently depending on what drugs I've had recently.

OnePageMemory, nightmares and vivid dreams like those can be very disturbing, I go through phases of having crazy dreams like that too. But the most important thing to remember is that they are just dreams and they cannot actually do you any harm.
Often nightmares are the manifestation of some kind of stress we are trying to subconsciously deal with in our waking life. You haven't mentioned how much pot or alcohol you had previously been taking but the nightmares could be occurring as a result of being sober. Your brain gets used to be numbed by depressants such as pot and alcohol, and when it doesn't have those substances it can kinda go in to overdrive for a while, until it readjusts.

Have you got some underlying thoughts or issues which could be causing you subconscious stress? If so, I think it would really help to go and see a counsellor for a few sessions to talk things through. Even just venting your thoughts can really help to clear your mind and sort things out in your head.

If you're actually having trouble sleeping, I would highly recommend some kind of herbal sleep remedy, mainly valerian root extract. It really does work, and it's not addictive. You can get it from a health food store or pharmacy.

Good luck, and let us know how you're going <3

^ good stuff and if valerian doesn't work out to well for you 3 or 5 mg melatonin tabs. Also ZMA can be useful.

Ugh! Nightmares suck. Mine always seem much too real, man.

I had a really horrible dream last night that I can't shake from my head. In my dream, I woke up at my friend's house I've been staying with, and no one was home. It was freezing cold and eerily dark. I went outside to see if my friend might be out smoking a cig, and the world was on fire. Everything smelled like gas vapors, and there were green lights in the sky. I started wandering down the street, calling out for someone to help me. These two grayish-white humanoid things came out from the neighbors side-yard. They had these large, black, empty eyes.. these soul-less unhuman voids. They looked my direction and let out a scream with no sound.. but I could sense the frequencies, and they were in binary code. I could feel my energy melting away. :O

I had those dreams before i got into pschotropic drugs. I remember having it when i was really young. But i have had it made worse by certain psych meds mainly anti-depressant. Some psych meds can make it better and are even prescribed to help sleep paralyses and night terrors. Anything like MDMA, alcohol, any stype of stimulant and psychedelics fuck with your sleep paternes as well.

If your on any drugs your arent prescribed try to atleast cut down on them or if you can quit them entirely. That way you might know if it's drug induced or not.

Yeah me too man. It's a very confusing experience for children!! It explains why I'm still to this day scared of the dark, because of all the realistic/vivid sleep paralysis episodes I had as a child.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. Im gonna try that valerian root extract soon before I start working on Nov 29th and let you guys know how it goes. I was a daily pot smoker for a little over 2 years then start smoking less and less until I completely stopped a couple of months ago since I knew I was going to take a drug test for this job. I only drank alcohol on weekends but this past summer my friends and I would drink for like a week straight or our max days we would go without drinking would be like 2 or 3 days max but now I only drink once a week or I try to not drink at all because I dont enjoy like I use to since all this stress started. With E, I was a monthly user a little over 3 years ago for a year then spaced out my rolls every 2-3 months and ive done it 2 nights in a row 3 times and now I havent done it in 4 months. Thats my history with substances lol.

Cool, yeah that does give a bit better insight to your situation :)
I personally suspect that your nightmares are caused by stress. Stress can manifest in the strangest ways, and nightmares/other sleep disorders can be one of the symptoms of stress.

Is there any particular source of stress which you can cut out, or try to minimise?
As an example of how one can do this: I have exams coming up for uni in 2 weeks time, and I had also committed myself to running in a half-marathon with my siblings, which is in 3 weeks time. I was trying to fit in enough study, plus sufficient marathon training, plus work, plus a bit of socialising to maintain sanity. I could feel the stress slowly building and building, until last Friday I spent pretty much the whole day on the couch with horrendous stomach cramps!! I was like what the hell is going on here?! A few people suggested it was probably due to stress. So strange because that has never happened to me before, then again I've never been under this much stress :D
So the next day I emailed my brother and sisters and told them that I was pulling out of the half-marathon, and my stomach pains went away and I immediately felt better about everything, less overwhelmed, because I'd completely cut out a major stressor in my current situation.

Is there something like that which you can try and cut out, or delegate to someone else, or ask someone for help with?

there you will find a dream dictionary and a really active forum with great people.

Check it out man. ur lucky you even remember your dreams. most ppl dont. dreams are a very powerful thing.

when being chased in your dream you should try to turn around and confront the people/things chasing you and demand to know why they are chasing you. i understand it is really hard to realize you are dreaming cuz it seems so real. but you can get into lucid dreaming and learn to know when your in a dream, not to mention u can get to the point where you can control your dream completely and do whatever you want :)

Im no dream guru, but the dream dictionary has been so dead on so many times that i cannot deny it. its so cool dude.
also lucid dreaming is neat, but i havent been training myself. it happens sometimes randomly bu im not the lucid dreaming every night like some people out there.
one of these days... haha

congrats on your break from drugs and alco... if it wasnt because shits dry!!! haha

You wake up if you do that because you set the brain in a situation where it cannot improvise fast enough. At least I do.

yea i do wake up as well. it takes a lot of practice it seems. theres a whole thing about how to get into it. the dream cycle happens every 1:30 hrs and you can set ur a larm to wake u up every 1:30 hrs and you remember EVERY dream you have through out the night. u keep a notebook so everytime you wake up u can write it down. thats extreme though. but thats how you do it and you learn to know when your dreaming. there are more simple ways as well. simple stuff.

i just love the dream dictionary honestly.

you look at the site?

Speaking of chasing things as a kid I had this reoccurring dream, following it usually was mild sleep paralysis without hallucinations (but still scary as a 8 year old). I was running real fast from this huge round boulder/rock as if i didn't run I would get crushed. But then every time I would see this diamond or some shiny thing that I for some reason had to pick up and since I stopped the rock would crush me. No pain or anything, but after that I would wake up unable to move for 20-30 sec.

Nothing compared to some of your guys' nightmares but that was really weird, and scary as a kid. Now most of the time even when I drink I have really positive dreams. I tried to induce vivid dreaming for a period of time and I guess that helped. I guess my brain treats dreams as movies now, I just go with the flow.
