I wanted to hear everyone's opinion about why they call it 'rolling'.

The reason I ask is because I had an amazing roll and every time I closed my eyes I would see circles, wheels, and other things 'rolling'. It is not unusual for me to have closed eyes visuals while rolling. Now when I was feeling less good I would see squares triangles etc.... I could look around the rave with my eyes closed and 'see' who was rolling/having a good time/had good vibes. They would all blend together and start to spin. Now the others not having fun would look like squares to me and they needed one things to fix that :)

My theory is square + <3 = rolling Whether it be love for the music, the people, whatever

What do you guys think? Am I nuts or what?

Please share your opinions on why they call it rolling.

Yup.....you sounds nuts. I guess you must really like geometry. When I think of rolling, I actually think of my thoughts rolling.....unwinding......no circles, rectangles, triangles, pentagons, hexagons.........Every once in a while, I might see pi (you know? 3.14) flash in my thoughts every now and then......

hmm i think it's called rolling because your thoughts are all over the place, and your body feels so good

Because pills were called rolls due to their circular shape..

Because they make you "just roll with it"..

Because they cause your eyes to roll into the back of your head..

i think it has to do with the fact that mdma facts peoples eyes roll in the back of their head.like rickolasnice said

^ I actually think it started more due to the 2nd reason: It causes you to "just roll with it".. I remember reading it in a book called: "This is ecstasy" years ago. But no one can be certain..

It's probably ALL the reasons people are gonna list :p

Well then, why they call it rolling aside can anyone relate to this kind of experience?

I have been using this drug for a while so I am not that surprised but I often badly want to believe there is some substance to the things I pick up on...

The prospect that the drug is like a window and not just something fake.

Sometimes I can swear the music is speaking to me, like directly to me. In languages I can understand. Giving me direction....

Again I would like to think there is substance to any of these things or if it is all an illusion with no specific value.

Sure I can make of it what I want but I don't really like the idea of living in la-la land with no real basis.

My heart is telling me it's real but my brain isn't so sure ;)

Shulgin wanted to nickname the drug window when he first started using, i'm sure you've heard that before but it just adds to your window analogy.
But for me it has to do with the way it comes is waves like foxy said

This ^

Afterglow wrote "Yes. It feels like waves of euphoria rolling over you."

And this ^

When someone tells me they're rolling really hard, it tells me they're experiencing intense body euphoria, empathy and positive thoughts racing (or rolling) through their body. Also, it usually means their eyes are rolling back in their head pretty hard.

I've heard two different explanations.

1) Your high goes up and down, like waves of euphoria. So you're 'rolling' up and down, or whatever.

2) The pill itself is called a roll because a bunch of stuff is rolled up in it, or because the pill is round and shit.

Because your high hits you in waves. You think it might be just evening out, then ahhhh, yes, there it is again. Up and down like a wheel rolling :)

It's due to the waves of energy and euphoria that come and go, like rolling hills / waves.

I always thought it was because your consciousness is rolling smoothly. Consciousness transitions from dancing to loving to talking back to dancing without thought. Atleast thats how i feel when rolling.

I think all of the descriptions are accurate. It's simply about perspective. Everyone's experience may be a little different, or the way they explain it <3

I experience the "rolling" like a roller coaster. There's the come-up where you feel anxious and your stomach is full of butterflies. Then you reach that first peak and all that anxiety vanishes, there's no turning back, and suddenly and you're left with this intense energy as you go into the first big drop. Then as the high continues it goes through peaks, winding curves, thrilling dips and less intense moments but all the while you're just having the time of your life.

Or maybe I just love roller coasters more than normal people should...

The first few times i did it i felt like i was on a roller coaster.. and heard of a few first timers but i think rolling defines that term where your just geeked on a pill and are rollin of a good one =]
