Ayahuasca Taste?

Like a bunch of plants, roots, barks, etc. Boiled into a pot of water ?

What do oranges taste like?



Oranges..



Plus all brews will taste slightly different depending on the specific plants used, but i doubt there is anything you can equate the taste to regardless..
 
I've never tasted it but a friend of mine who enjoys how Ayahuasca tastes said how it tastes sort of burnt like Guinness does. Is this true?
 
When drinking Aya, most people brew two plants separately: the Aya vine (B. Caapi), and the admixture (Chacruna, Chaliponga, Jeruma)

Then though traditionally they are drank together, most westerners drink the Aya first, for MAO inhibition, followed by the admixture brew several minutes later.

They both taste horrible.. In my experience the first brew with the Caapi is much thicker, and sludgy. It is very bitter and the sediment in it makes it pretty hard to choke down.

But the admixture is the worst.. I've drank both Chacruna and Mimosa (Jeruma) brews.. And they both tasted similar, but Mimosa was much worse.. It's sooo bitter. It tastes like death. And the tannins in it dry up your tongue immediately.. Ya know how you get that kind of dry mouth thing after drinking red wine? That weird feeling on your tongue? It's like that, but much much stronger..

If you have trouble getting stuff like that down, you could try pharmauasca. Or you can just do what I do.. Reduce the amount of liquid down to 1.5 oz or less, and do it as a shot, and chase with orange juice. Though the taste is still horrible, the more I drink, the easier it gets. I don't vomit very often anymore, and the nausea is still there, but easily bearable. Dramamine and a few bites of toast beforehand also help greatly.
 
I think someone once said it tasted like "forest rot".

Best way round it is to take a 300mg tablet of moclobemide as the MAOI and freebase DMT as the DMT. No taste whatsoever.
 
that depends. If prepared traditionally like in the Santo Daime, I find the taste not too bad. A little fermented, but quite bearable. My own decoctions, on the other hand, taste like a putrid mix of soil, leafs and bugs inside a rotting buffalo stomach. I have a gag reflex just thinking of it. They are quite strong though! ;)
 
For me it has definitely gotten easier each time I've done it. I drank again last night and it was actually pretty easy getting it all down. I reduced both drinks to less than 1.5oz of liquid, drank them each in one quick shot, chased with orange juice. It was the easiest experience I've had yet.
 
Since I'd had experience with other drugs before, I could tell from the taste that there were alkaloids, it's a kind of bitter flavour and I noticed that the taste kind of runs through your hold body and becomes the high (or creates a psychological connection with the high) in the same way salvia and morning glory/hbwr do. Whenever I taste it now It reminds me of the whole experience, it's very intense.

My friend, when he tried it, said simply that it "tastes like god". Bad taste is just an illusion really, all taste is simply taste.

If the brew is thick you can feel particles in your mouth and streaking down your throat which can be pretty unpleasant, I end up licking the roof of my mouth a lot. Swirling and gargling water then spitting it out is a good way to get rid of it.

I only tried aya once and I made the mistake of keeping too much liquid. I was left with like 4 quarts total, 2 of the P Viridis and 2 of the Caapi. The next time I try ayahuasca I will definitely be leaving as little liquid as possible. :|

Haha.. Yeah, that would be quite a lot to swallow! IMO reducing makes it much easier to get down, but you have to remember that the more you reduce, the stronger the taste gets. If you have that much liquid left, yeah there's a lot to swallow, but the taste isn't as bad.. However, drinking and drinking that much liquid can't be easy.

Just leave the brews in a pot on the stove at a low simmer until you're left with an amount of liquid that suits you.

yes,like vomit!!! whats funny is when you vomit it back up it still taste the same lmao.the taste is horrible and acrid and if you have to chug a cup or more more power to you .when it hits your tounge your throat will close up unless you have some majical control over your reflexes. try to cook it down to a 3rd of a cup or less. if you cant stomach it like a hardcore shaman you can always put DMT and maoi alkaloids in capsules and i promise they taste way better than drinking the aya;)
