Need your help fentanyl question!!

I really need some guidance here guys... I am going to have nose surgery this Friday in about 40 hours from now. The surgery is going to take like 4 hours and its pretty iextensive as far as nose surgerys go.

Any way the doctor has prescribed me Norco 10's for the pain and I used to take like 10 to 15 lorcets a day, so I just dont think the Norcos are gonna do much for me.

I had really stopped taking any opiates for a long time but for the last month or so I have been taking like 1 a day...

Long story short my friend at work gave me 5 Fentanyl 50mcg/hr Transdermal system patches to help with the pain...

Since I dont have the opiate tolarance that I once used to have, is it safe for me to use the patches short term for the pain starting Friday after my surgery?

Please advise me, Thanks.. Time is of importance...
 
Yes it's safe, but it depends on how you take them. If you just wear them, be sure to only do it one at a time, and don't try any advanced methods like putting heating patches on them. When wearing them it usually takes 3 to 4 hours to feel it, so don't goto sleep after putting one on in case it's too strong. When you start to feel effects, if it starts to feel strong don't be afraid to take it off.

The CNS depressant effects of fentanyl are very high compared to it's analgesic properties, that is what makes it so dangerous.

If you plan on using the patch any other way, you need to be very very careful. If you're using it for pain the only other way that would work really is to cut the patch into small pieces (or if it's the gel kind, suck tiny bits of gel out) and chew them for awhile. This will take an hour or so before you start to feel it, so remember not to re-dose until you know how it affects you.

Ok, sounds like a plan... I am not trying to get high off the patch I just really want the pain to be easy to handle... I have just read so much scary shit about them that I am now just scared and dont know what to think.

I know for sure that its not the gel type so cutting it would be safe correct?

I think if I cut them into four peices it should be pretty safe ha?
 
Cutting would be a safe way to dose, yes, but I recommended starting much lower than ingesting a fourth of the patch. Cutting it into only 4 pieces and taking one of those pieces could be waaaay too much. Start small, you can always take more. Like I said, fentanyl will help with pain, but it slows your breathing and heart way waaaay down very quickly, that's what makes it so dangerous.

I would recommend cutting it into at LEAST 8 pieces and starting with one of those, if not smaller.. 10 to 16 pieces would be ideal if you don't mind spending some time waiting to see how those little pieces affect you. Who knows, you could be sensitive to the stuff.

Remember, you can always take more.
 
Oh, I was not going to eat them.. I was going to cut into four and wear it as prescribed... Can that be done? Cut into fours and used as a patch?
 
I don't know about the rest of you but it scares me to much to here some1 trying to dose

themselves fentanyl with little to no opiate tolerance...I Know this isn't the simplest or the

safest thing to do but if you could easily trade those patches for percocet (NOT OXYCONTIN)

but just some 5/325s or 7.5/500. Or any other opiate around that same strength per pill.
 
Fentanyl is much more potent, yes. But it's prescribed in much smaller doses. It's the ratio of CNS Depression to Analgesia that makes it so dangerous..

And yes, now that I understand you meant you were going to wear the cut pieces, yes, that does sound much smarter.. Although I should have asked this a long time ago, how strong are your patches? 25, 50, 75, or 100?

If they're 100's, maybe cut it into 8 pieces and wear one of those for your first time. Just remember to be very very careful however you do it. It would be a good idea not to be alone as well, just in case.
 
They are the 50mcg, I just dont want to deal with this crazy ass pain coming my way in ohh about 15 hours... I figured I would cut them into 4s and stick one on to see what happens... What is everyones oppenion on that? Safe or not?
 
Cutting a 50 into quarters and using one sounds safe to me.. Just remember, you probably won't feel it for at least 3 or 4 hours.. So if you don't feel anything for awhile, do NOT start using more for a good 6 hours or so.

And very important, do not fall asleep with it on until you've started to feel the effects and you know it's not going to be too strong.

The amount your planning on trying should be pretty safe, but with fentanyl you can never be too careful.

Not to sound like the junkie here but a friend of mines father passed and there was three boxes of fentynal 2 generic and one brand name and sold them cheap 2 me and I put small amounts of the gel on tin foil and smoked it with a straw like Meth, it was opiate crack and very addictive but felt great, I don't find it fun other than that. It kills pain as I was given it IV in a hospital once but you can't urinate at all and scratch til you bleed. Be super careful like the other posters stated, I was younger and reckless with this, I probably almost died.

ive found myself runnin short of my 10 100mcg patches a month...a couple fell off...and i used the gel out of a few.......i have the gel kind and i cut 1 patch into 2 and sealed them very tightly..that way ii wont run out....does anyone have any ideas on this??
 
have to agree with pretty much all that was said ,I woulda asked the same thing ,how strong?and cut them into 4rs if there strong and cut in half if there not but you can always up so the smaller the better to start..
I was recomended to go on them for my pain but my stupid assed doc wouldnt do it ,no offence but damn foreners.
Seems these doce from ejipt dont wanna script anything more than T3s....no matter what yer pain is...
the patch is supposed to work great wish i could actually try it ,it would save me from eating a million pills a day ,,good luck with the sergury im almost ready to get my nose done as well lol.only been waiting to gain the curage for about 20 years lol herd that after sergury its hell on wheels for at least a month stayin inside no goin outside,so im told anyway ...
 
I made it through

Wow, the nose surgery was no fucking joke people.. I am just now getting back into the swinng of things... I had it done on the 8th and let me tell ya, that shit was soooo goddamn painful...

The doc had to rebreak my nose and reset it, he shaved down a small hump uptop shaved down the sides of my nose, decreased the tip and fixed my deviated septum.

Ill attach a after sergury pic so you can puke...

By the way, I checkened out of taking the patch. One of my boys came through with the 80mg Oxy's so I took those instead.. I hade to break them in 4s as well because they where the 80s...

Anyway now I have the patches on standby for something else....mail.jpg
