how much/often would i have to drink to get alcohol WD?

its hard to say..i would say at least a month or 2 of heavy drinking daily..once your body needs the alcohol to function...i think we can only assume..nobody starts and says they want to be an alcoholic...

This is one of the worst things I've read in all my time on Bluelight.

I am rarely this harsh to anyone on here so I apologise, but please, don't be fucking stupid.

Being an alcoholic is extremely unpleasant, if you are fully aware of all the consequences and what it takes to get there, you should not actively attempt to become that dependent on alcohol.

Seriously, don't do it.

This thread will likely be closed because it goes against everything that this site stands for, i.e. HARM REDUCTION.

I hope it doesn't get closed because I too am curious how much one must drink to become physically dependent. I've met lots of traveling/trainhopping kids who glorify alcoholism and say, "I need a beer or I'm gonna dt", or "I've got the shakes", but I always kind of doubt that they are truthful and just trying to sound cool (It is not cool to me, I know some serious alcoholics)

Bad hangovers are pretty much a mild version of alcohol withdrawals - that's where the whole "hair of the dog" thing came from.

Physical dependence on alcohol is more about regularity of drinking than amount - as with other drugs, your body can become used to small, regular doses and protest when they're withdrawn. Over time your tolerance will build and it will also take larger amounts of alcohol to achieve the same effect.

I do know someone who set out to become an alcoholic at age 23. He's 51 now and has been effectively homeless for years. He's literally dependent on the kindness of others to have a roof over his head and is incapable of basic daily living activities like showering and food preparation. His balance is severely affected by alcohol-caused brain damage as is his eyesight.

Realistically, he will be in a nursing home by the time he's 55 because no-one can stand living with him for any length of time. He showers only once every couple of months, he wets the bed, and he basically has only two or three conversations, all of which are about things which happened years ago.

I don't know a lot of alcoholics who drink more per day than the average person would drink on a binge, but income limits the ability of the ones I know to drink as much as they'd like. All of the ones I do know will have the shakes by mid-morning if they have no alcohol and several have had seizures or been hospitalised with the DTs at some time when they've been unable to obtain any alcohol.

tickle my pickle... u might be borderline retarded.... u gotta be kidding us???

U WANT to be an alcohalic to see how it is... why dont u just look at trophy wives who gold dig and live in a mansion...there lives suck, depression, shaking, trembling, beat red, fatigue, anger, no appitite, vommiting on daily basis, sweating likea pig, and did i mention, depression

have fun wit that lol :)

This is maybe the dumbest thing i have ever seen on bluelight! Being a alcoholic is hell and the withdrawal symptoms are very dangerous and life threatening. This is just a very stupid idea.

I assume you meant this as some sort of sick joke. But I'll tell ya, WDs from ANYTHING is no joking matter.

I truly hope you never have to experience them.

Best

Totally depends on the individual, but even more so on previous GABAergic dependencies and usage. If you want a ball park estimate I'd say 2-3 weeks of getting drunk every day is risky, over a month and you'll definitely feel cravings and anxiety. But I would bet there are people out there who have/could go over a month drinking daily and stop with very little issue besides boredom and wanting to drink (you would assume someone enjoys alcohol quite a lot to drink that much, so, they probably want to drink all the time anyways). Personally I can feel increased anxiety from just 3-4 days of drinking; I've been dependent on benzos, ghb and alcohol before though...
