Just experienced my first robbery

I know how you feel I've got shit stole from me more than once. Strong armed robbery as well in prison which isn't fun.
One thing I've learned about getting robbed.

It CAN happen anywhere BUT it still tends to happen at certain places/towns/situations more often. If I'm parked in a nieghborhood I don't trust I will usually take my expensive things (i-pods, faceplate, gps) and either put them in the glove compartment, trunk, or under the seat.
If a robber is trying to steal stuff from your car (and not the car itself) they will almost always look inside first. So as a tip, don't leave expensive things that can be seen out when you're in an area you don't trust/know.
Also, my brother just got his gps stolen like a week ago as well as a cracked windshield. It was in a neighborhood I WOULD trust, so now I hide shit almost 80% of the places I go to. Its almost like a paranoid habit but its serving me better than not doing it.

I hope you can feel better soon and remember this doesn't have to make you an "asshole". You can surely adopt some "healthy paranoia" however and avoid situations like this in the future. G/luck!

Sorry about about the harshness of what I posted Lysis, I was drunk, it was late, and I was kinda rude [enough excuses :)]. I mentioned things happen for a reason and like user name mentioned maybe it will pull you closer to your b/f or soon to be re-b/f. Just to clarify though I am not a gangster, nor a criminal. In another time's forgotten space I was a dope fiend though.

peace.

I've got a crappy car and i got so sick of it being broken into now I just leave a note in the window saying 'door open, help yourself'. A year on and I've had no more issues.
Its horrible when you lose something of great sentimental value, but remember no one can steal your memories.

Sorry to hear about this lysis :( As others have mentioned though, at least it was only an ipod. Pretty inconsequential in the larger scheme of things though I can see how painful it must be with the attached sentimental value. *hugs*

I've heard of this working, and it makes sense. Leaving a window or door open is invitation. But the note makes a thief nervous, because he's either suspicious & afraid to be caught, or it induces a bit of guilt because it makes them think of their actions a little.
Then again, they just might take the sign's advice. :\

Nobody can steal dreams from us, but time does. That's why we naturally cling to things from lives & loves past. They're like memory save-points. :)
