Opioids Dr is trying to get me off Oxy & switch to Suboxone

yes I have, the withdrawls were still really bad.

thats really weird....i wonder why I have absolutely zero withdrawals and you had such horible long lasting withdrawals. thats unfortunate for you.....im sry

Do you smoke weed? Give that a try it should help, and if your stressed out that can be making your migrains get worse then they already are.

Sorry the replies you have gotten about your oxy being switched have been so judgmental.
Each of us knows our own bodies and pain better than anyone else.

Seems to me the responders jumped on the "judgmental bandwagon" that I often read in this forum.

Hope you get the drugs you need and want. No one should be in pain.
From W/D or chronic pain.
hugs to you. <3

i am truly sorry. sometimes doctors can put us in situations where we experience worse pain than we ever could have without them. I hope that you receive the analgesics that you require to treat your condition.

i was recently in the hospital, and ended up requiring surgery. i was upfront with the doctors and told them i have a very high tolerance for pain meds. they were incredible accommodating. they put me on a PCA that would allow me to administer myself with 1.5mg of Dilaudid IV every 8 minutes. This really helped tremendously with my pain.

Upon being released the doctor wrote me Rx for 150 Oxy15mg IR and 120 8mg Dilaudid. I just ran out of my script, and finally need more, but anticipate he will help me again.

I am of the opinion it is better to overmedicate someone in pain, than to undermedicate someone and have them in agony. Some of the doctors out there these days would much better understand our situations, if for once THEY were the patients and required adequate pain relief. Fucking horrible people exist in this world...

Actually, thats what asking quesitons on BL is all about.....were supposed to judge the situation so we can give him/her the correct/best advice.......its pretty much what your asking for when you ask for advice on BL....you cant give advice without judging the situation the person is in.

if he wanted to just have people tell him how sorry they were that hic doctors switched his medication, or "hugs to you"...he should have gone to his mother. This is an advice forum.....not a "comfort forum"

No weed or any other stuff at all. I even quit drinking after beginning this medication. For some odd reason I don't like the taste of beer at all - and can only drink 1-3max ounces of mixed liquors max per sitting. Like 3 rum + cokes, or Oj + vodka ... then my body simply tells me no more. I get a headache & hangover b4 i even stop my last drink. Weird.

Plus my asthma is bad so no smoke at all.

Which pain meds are they "dispensing" to you?

...still the oxy??....or did they go to the suboxone???

Well thats good, atleast your still getting your oxy.

my experience with doctors is that if you call them on a business day, there assistant will take a message for you, and the doctor will not call back until atleast the end of the day when hes done seeing his patients....and soemtimes he/she waits until the end of the next day even. but after that, if they still havent called back....I would call again, or go in person....you know the doctors gonna be there....its his practice.

I didn't read this whole thread- sorry. Suboxone is an expensive drug but well worth it, imho. It helped me get through painful days plus worked me through an awful depression. The oxy are too addicting and I know people will say "you're replacing one for the other" Just try and see how it works for you. And I'm with James Brown on the weed thing because I never had a problem smoking weed, and went several years abstaining from it. I wanted to start it up again but it makes my head dizzy and I don't know why.

Apparently your doctor has an issue and thinking that you are overmedicating yourself. My doctor got all humpty with me when I ran out early- and I'm coming off the oxy and taking hydro 10/325. He had this big long talk with me and concerned I am possibly abusing my meds etc. Don't take this personally, they have to follow "protocol" and I don't see how they can make you come in each day. I mean people, normally have to go to work and take care of day to day things, and having a doctor visit daily should not be one of them. That's a bit shitty and I guess you need to show him that you're responsible enough to not take too much....

they actually CAN make you come in each day......but because this is the U.S. were talking about....that means that he CAN choose to go to another doctor if he doesnt like this ones' policies. Its the american way.
