^ Never gotten that one.

The other day, a friend's dad told me I reminded him of Hugh Grant, which I used to hear a lot, but haven't in a while. Made me feel young again!

I used to also get told I looked like James Spader, long ago. When Sex, Lies and Videotape came out, I had long hair, much like he did in that film:

n3o-- Yeah, I know. That guy's the ugliest mofo in hollywood. She was all giggly and flirty, and I swear that she meant it as a compliment. It was weird; especially after she had asked me all the blood donation screening questions.

jf- You don't look like Hugh Grant. My ex used to get Hugh Grant all the time.
You DO look like James Spader though! haha weird.

Dave, I agree with n3o- :) And I am sure she did mean it as a compliment. Post a photo for others to make a guess on you ;) I can't figure who I'd say you look like at the moment........

ocean-- I've heard everything from Juakin Phoenix (sp?) to Andre Agassi back when he had hair. I never really understood either.

<Edit>

Yeah, I raaaarely get told I look like anyone. I've gotten some randoms "in that picture you look like __________" before, but usually not one person constantly.

Help me please said:
I think you look a bit like John C McGinley of Scrubs. Not at all like Hugh Grant or James Spader.

I must mention that everyone who tells me I remind them of Hugh Grant is quick to add "it's more the mannerisms and the voice than the looks."

My mother was born and raised in Italy, and taught to speak English by British nurses in Displaced Person Camps (DPCs) after WWII, so she speaks with a very prominent Italian/British accent, and you can hear traces of it in my voice, too (along with being raised by a father with a thick Irish New York City accent), and being raised in NYC and Texas, I have a very unusual accent that a lot of people pick up on. :)

I like John C McGinley.... great character actor (though I hate Scrubs). Never understood why he never got any lead roles. Thanks, though! :)

^For the most part my accent is west coast but my mothers whole family is from New Jersey and I have words that come out thick NJ........ NY/NJ is already such a throw in of a bunch of accents, with most notable to me Irish/Italian. You can hear words pronounced in an Irish way or with an italian aspect to them........... The long a's and o's but not in a midwestern 'o' way. hhahah n/m this probably sounds crazy.
Anyway- I get it.

^I'm gonna say its the depth of the eyes.
I don't know shit about Mr. Phoenix but I know Dave has a wisdom about him derived from an ability to feel deeply without having to experience the events that lead to that feeling.

Dave should be much more famous than anyone named after a city

^I know Joaquin is not a city :D hahah
I was teasing OD......or trying to.
Sarcasm doesn't transfer well.

Phoenix was actually a chosen family name by his parents.
(I recently saw a biography show about him.)
He was the only of his siblings not named after nature...... (siblings:River, Summer,Rain)
For a time he wanted to be called, and went by Leaf Phoenix :)

Edit: I do not see the John Mayer thing.
Dave is a tough one.....I know there is SOMEONE but I can't place it.

According to some celeb face-matching thing (which I can't believe I just used-- ugh) I look 72% like Adam Ant. I think it's the hair. And now my face is now probably in some biometric database somewhere; next week I'll start getting face-optimized spam.
